Comic Series ‘Big Trouble in Little China: Old Man Jack’ Co-Written by Carpenter!

The year is 2020, and hell is literally on Earth.

Via Screen Rant, it was just announced that BOOM! Studios is taking a page out of the Wolverine playbook with upcoming comic series Big Trouble in Little China: Old Man Jack, set to tell the tale of Jack Burton’s final ride in the Pork-Chop Express!

Written by John Carpenter and Anthony Burch (Borderlands 2), the four-issue series will be kicking off in September.

In Old Man Jack

The year is 2020, and hell is literally on Earth. Ching Dai, sick of relying on screw-ups like Lo Pan to do his bidding, has broken the barriers between Earth and the infinite hells, and declared himself ruler of all.

Sixty-year-old Jack Burton is alone in a tiny corner of Florida with only his broken radio to talk to, until one day it manages to pick up a message. Someone is out there in the hellscape, and they know a way to stop Ching Dai.

Check out the main cover for #Issue 1 below, which will have multiple variants!

Because I’m a huge fan of Big Trouble (Enough to at one point have had the license plate D LOPAN), to this I say, “Fuck yes”. And also, because I’m a huge fan of Big Trouble, to this I also say, “Wait, what are you doing? Don’t touch that. Don’t add potentially lame shit to the canon! No! Stop it! Fuck off!!”

This just about sums up the last 20 years of entertainment for me. Everything I love added to or changed, a majority of it straight up garbage. So I’m initially excited, and then immediately worried. It’s a vicious cycle.

I guess it can’t be any worse than the other BTiLC comics.

Can’t wait have loved the comic series but I wish the Escape from New York crossover was a little stronger

Then a movie, then a series just like Ash vs Evil Dead, then a game… if it’s well done, all in favor!

A video game would work brilliantly. If we had one for The Thing in spite of it being a flop then why not this? Or a TV series. He should take a page out of Raimi or George Miller.

No doubt. And I even liked the Ps2 era THE THING game, at least they tried to come up with a trust/blood test system to enhance the experience…
