With ‘Aquaman’ Wrapped, Jason Momoa Prepares for ‘The Crow Reborn’

“Game of Thrones” star Jason Momoa, who just wrapped production on James Wan’s Aquaman for Warner Bros. and DC, is currently prepping for his role in the reboot of The Crow.

In development hell for years now, Momoa and director Corin Hardy (The Nun) continue to tease that The Crow Reborn will finally take flight in 2018 (see below).

“The Crow” comic book creator James O’Barr is actively involved in the reboot, which is described as a more faithful adaptation of the original graphic novel.

The Crow follows Eric Draven (who would be played by Momoa), who returns from the dead to track down his killers and avenge his murdered fiancé with the help of a mystical bird.

Samuel Hadida’s Davis Films, Highland Film Group and Electric Shadow previously acquired the rights to finance, produce and distribute the film.

I’ve been waiting for sooooo long. @corinhardy let’s do this brother aloha j

    This needs an R rating.

If it really is anything like the comics…

  • Simon Allen

Perfect casting in my eyes .

  • Stiler Orion

He’s a bit bulky, hopefully he’ll trim down a bit for the role. Going to be hard to get anywhere near the first Crow movie.

I’m so excited to see this! Jason Momoa is a rather bold casting choice but the result could be amazing. Since it’s closer to the graphic novel, I hope the film’s style will reflect that, too. Would be great as black and white film, for instance.

    • MeeGhoulz

”Would be great as black and white film, for instance.” Hadn’t occurred to me, but ,hell yeah! The first Sin City proved it’s possible…

  • MrX13

I like Mamoa but he already looks menacing to mess with. Lee was perfect because he wasn’t intimating and looked vulnerable, that’s why it worked. Mamoa on the other hand looks like someone you don’t want to mess with, he’s tall and bulky and looks menacing so I don’t know.

I really love the original and hope with this one, will do justice but we shall see

    • Chrissie-Watkins

I can’t believe I am saying this, because to me more Jason Momoa in movies I want to see is definitely a good thing, but I actually agree.

      • MrX13

I’m sure Mamoa will do good in the movie

    • theundead

Well too bad they chose him

  • Need to see some footage to have an opinion. I like the artwork and casting.

  • sliceanddice

Doesn’t seem like the right casting to me as a fan of the comic but then again it can be so hard to separate lee from the role, considering he literally personified it.

  • Nia Snacks

This might catch me some heat but I feel like if Brandon Lee didn’t die while filming, this movie would not been nearly as memorable. I thought it was a terrible. This movie in my opinion became iconic based on the what happened to Brandon Lee.

    • Saturn

Gotta disagree, even though the ghost of Brandon Lee will forever haunt the original movie, it was pretty damn good.

      • Nia Snacks

Hey it’s an acquired taste. I can see why some people may like it, but i’m not one of them.

        • Captain Killjoy McGiggles Von

That’s how I feel about Heath Ledger’s joker. He was an amazing actor who played an outstanding psychopath….. but one of the worst Jokers I’ve ever seen. Look up Super Power Beatdown Deadpool Vs Joker. THAT’S an adaptation. Brandon Lee did a solid Crow though. Everyone has their own opinion, but you definitely seem to be in the minority, although i get where you’re coming from.

          • Captain Killjoy McGiggles Von

Huh…. google cut the rest of my name “Shivshank IV”, ashats

  • Travis_Bickle

    The Crow: The Redemption
    The Crow: Fury Road
    The Crow vs Predator
    The Crow: The Beginning
    The Crow: People Don’t Care

Please stop making Crow sequels. I understand the character is compelling but ONLY because of the first film.

    • Saturn

So you’re not looking forward to The Crow : Venom Origins?

      • Travis_Bickle

(Joan Crawford voice) No more crow movies ever!!!!

        • Saturn

    • MeeGhoulz

I’ll only cut them some slack cuz this is not a sequel, but an attempt to bring the comics to a literal adaptation… and Momoa deserves the love.

    • Professor Fartsparkles

No, not until we get The Crow 2: Electric Buggaloo.

      • Travis_Bickle

Turbo and Ozone throwing knives and wearing long black coats while dancing on the ceiling.

Yes, I know alot about the Breakin movies…sorry…

        Great name, BTW

  • *deep, sad sigh*

  • Grimphantom

He looks too big for the Crow, i can see him more as the main villain.

    • theundead

Well too bad hes playing the crow deal with it or don’t watch it

  • Geno1987

“We need someone special for the Crow. Someone who looks slim, unassuming, and can slip into the character easily. I know, lets get the guy who looks like a cross between The Undertaker and Maui from Disney’s Moana. Perfect.”

    • theundead

      Shut the hell up

  • Evan Kiesler

If it was a separate story that’s one thing , but retelling the 1st crow with a guy in his 30’s playing a 21 year old , is just WRONG & a total injustice too the crow !!! nuff said

    • theundead

It’s following the comic book and your acting like Jason is 50 years old

  • Drew
  • Evan3

Does anyone really think Mamoa can carry a film? He was pretty cool in his small role on Game of Thrones, but that hardly required much range. So far, the Justice League trailer portrays Aquaman as a bellowing pro wrestler. I just don’t see him becoming a bankable lead.

    • theundead

      I can definitely see him

  • Christopher Nickerson

Am i the only one that wants to see him as Conan again?
