Vin Diesel Could Star as ‘Bloodshot’ In R-rated Valiant Comic Adaptation!

Valiant is finally going to see one of their comics adapted to the big screen.

Vin Diesel, who is the franchise star of the Fast and the Furious films, is in talks to star in Sony Pictures’ Bloodshot, reports TheWrap.

“Bloodshot” is about a mortally wounded soldier resurrected with cutting-edge nanotechnology and tasked with rounding up superpowered outcasts known as “harbingers.”

Dave Wilson, who is Deadpool director Tim Miller’s partner at Blur Studios, is attached to direct. Oscar-nominated screenwriter Eric Heisserer (Arrival, Final Destination 5, The Thing, A Nightmare On Elm Street) is writing the screenplay.

The studio is planning an entire five-film shared universe around Diesel that will:

“Follow in the footsteps of the recent success of Logan and Deadpool with an R-rated take on the comic adaptation.”

Adds the site:

Bloodshot will be tonally and aesthetically influenced by high-concept, sci-fi blockbusters of the late ’80s including Robocop, Terminator, and Total Recall.

Diesel would star as Angelo Mortalli, a ruthless killer for the mob who is set up by the family and framed for a murder. He instead goes into Witness Protection but is betrayed by an FBI agent guarding him, kidnapped and forcibly subjected to an experimental program in which his body is injected with microscopic computers called nanites. They erase his brain and rebuild it and his body to be a weapon with superhuman strength and healing powers. The character was created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin, and Bob Layton in 1992.

The film will also reunite Diesel with Fast and the Furious mega-producer Neal Moritz, who is producing alongside Valiant’s Dinesh Shamdasani.
