10 Horror Directors Who Appeared in Movies They Didn’t Direct

Zombie began his career as a musical performer, so it isn’t a stretch to think that he would still want to perform. The irony, of course, is that he has been in very famous films, but he is never actually on-screen. A friendship with director James Gunn led to a series of voice cameos in nearly every one of Gunn’s films. He is the voice of Dr. Karl over the phone in 2006’s Slither, and appears as the voice of God in Gunn’s bizarre but delightful Super, seen here:

Possibly Zombie’s most famous role is the voice of the Ravager Navigator in Guardians of the Galaxy, a role he is returning to for the sequel. He is mentioned in this video about GOTG Easter Eggs:
