Check Out Robert Kurtzman’s Creature Corps Working On the ‘Late Phases’ Werewolves!! (Exclusive)

Robert Kurtzman’s Creature Corps sends everyone Howling holiday wishes with some exclusive behind-the-scenes images from one of their latest projects, Late Phases (review), out now on VOD and select theaters.

The film was picked as one of Patrick Cooper’s favorite films of 2014, and features some absolutely astounding practical effects work.

Take a look below at Kurtzman and his team work with director Adrian Garcia Bogliano on the werewolf movie that stars Stake Land‘s Nick Damici, Ethan Embry, Lance Guest, Erin Cummings, Rutanya Alda, Tina Louise, Caitlin O’Heaney, Karen Lynn Gorney, Dana Ashbrook, and the great Tom Noonan.

“Crescent Bay is not the ideal place to spend one’s golden years, especially since the once-idyllic retirement community has been beset by a series of deadly animal attacks from the ominous forest surrounding it. When grizzled war veteran Ambrose McKinley (Nick Damici) is forced into moving there by his yuppie son Will (Ethan Embry), the residents immediately take offense to Ambrose’s abrasive personality. But that take-no-prisoners attitude may be just what Ambrose needs to survive as it becomes clear that the attacks are being caused by creatures that are neither animal nor man, and that the tight-knit community of Crescent Bay is hiding something truly sinister in its midst…”

i was very excited for this movie but it was sadly one of the worst films i’ve seen this year. while i definitely appreciate the work that went into the practical fx, the end result was abysmal. not only is the werewolf design awful but the way it’s filmed/shot/edited (in action) it comes across like a high school film class made it/filmed it. i’ve seen GOOSEBUMP eps that had more menace and quality in it’s creatures than what was in LATE PHASES. such a huge disappointment.
