A feature length adaptation of Hack/Slash has been in the making for a long time, and it looks like we might get some closure pretty soon. Last time we heard anything, the live-action film was set up at Relativity with Steven Susco writing the script (a lot of people have probably taken a look at the script written by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli from 2007 as well), but it looks like Halo-8 is in production on a different illustrated feature that mixes comic book sequential art with 3D CGI and rotoscoped animation of live-action performances. Bloody Disgusting has learned exclusively that “Hack/Slash” creator Tim Seeley is hard at work on a new comic franchise, moving him from slashers into the world of uber-violent werewolves. While the comic has yet to be released, Underground Films and Daniel Alter are teaming up to produce a live-action big screen version of Wild Game with Kevin Seamus Fahey (“The Forgotten”, “Battlestar Galactica”) penning the adaptation. Described as 30 Days of Night with werewolves, the plot sounds simply incredible. You can get more info and dig on some early art by reading on. (more…) READ MORE
It has been one long road to getting Cassie Hack on the big screen, but hey, we’re getting close! With Fredrik Bond attached to direct, Relativity has tapped Stephen Susco to pen the latest draft of the live-action adaptation of Hack/Slash, a film that should kick off a brand new franchise. The comic centers on Cassie Hack, a woman who symbolizes the lone girl who survives at the end of every horror movie. Hack not only survived, she has become a killer of killers and travels to small towns across the country hunting slashers in the vein of Halloween‘s Michael Myers, Friday the 13th‘s Jason Voorhees and A Nightmare on Elm Street‘s Freddy Krueger. She is partnered on her journey with Vlad, a hulking companion who serves as her protector. Susco is also writing The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D for Twisted Pictures and The Butcherhouse Chronicles for Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes. (more…) READ MORE

Where are you already?! THE STRANGERS was a huge success, now Rogue Pictures should be giving the thumbs up to the highly anticipated Hack/Slash, the adaptation of the popular comic book that sends Cassie Hack, a woman who travels to small towns across the country, off hunting slashers (like Jason Voorhees, Chucky, Freddy Krueger etc). Thomas Beers, Original Prods., and comicbook publisher Devil’s Due are moving forward with Chopper Zombie, about a motorcycle builder who refuses to sell his formula for a new superfuel to a dangerous corporation. When a team of thugs drowns him in his own toxic creation, he rises from the dead with a score to settle. Todd Livingston (“The Black Forest,” “The Wicked West”) will pen the graphic novel, with Scott Keating (“Death and the Man Who Could Not Die,” “Elk’s Run”) handling the art. Devil’s Due will launch the book at next week’s Comic-Con in San Diego alongside a custom zombie chopper assembled by “Monster Garage’s” creators. Un-freakin-believable! This weekend horror took a huge step forward by taking on not only INDIANA JONES IV, but the highly anticipated SEX AND THE CITY in a three way box office battle. Obviously Rogue Pictures’ The Strangers (review) took the number three slot, but to pull in $20 million opening weekend against two giant blockbusters in the middle of summer is such a wonderful sign. Hopefully this will light a fire under Rogue’s ass to greenlight Hack/Slash, which is now near the top of my list as most anticipated horror films in the works. Hurray for horror! (more…) READ MORE
It looks like Rogue finally found their balls as they’ve begun to (finally) move forward on what could be one of the coolest new slasher franchises in horror. Music video director Todd Lincoln is on board to helm the project, which is being produced by Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter. “Hack/Slash,” created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli, centers on Cassie Hack, a woman who travels to small towns across the country hunting slashers in the vein of “Halloween’s” Michael Myers, “Friday the 13th’s” Jason Voorhees and “A Nightmare on Elm Street’s” Freddy Krueger. She is partnered on her journey with Vlad, a hulking companion who serves as her protector. Lincoln wrote the initial draft with Martin Schenk. Ben Magid also worked on the script. (more…) READ MORE
