I grew up on this movie…well…it at least got me into “horror”. This movie is leaked from the horror genre on to thriller and drama.

Overall falls short of being anything worth remembering, considering the cast of harrison ford and michelle pfieffer, and the direction of robert zemeckis who has made some outstanding great great films in his career, i was expecting more, but it’s a pretty average thriller, better than his contact movie, but along with that one, these are the worst robert zemeckis films, yes worse than used cars, i loved that one!

Loved it! Back when this movie came out it was new with the whole ending. Now I would have expected it but Michelle Pfeiffer gives damn near the best performance of her career and Ford’s good too.Very jumpy in theaters and lots of suspense. One of my favorite ghost thrillers! A great ending!!

A little bit of an overhyped hollywood thriller. It has some good moments and some cheaper scares and the performances are good and surprising. But overall it’s not ground breaking.

Love the Hitchcock feel to this. I like pretty much everything about this movie; acting, story, cinematography…just a great thriller, good stuff!

Great original thriller, good actors, and a rewarding ending that may surprise you. (Sure surprised me) Definitely has that ‘Hitchcock’ atmosphere to it which helped in giving the story more depth! I love these types of thrillers, and this one is full of mystery! A must watch for any horror/thriller fan

LOVE this movie! Great plot, good scares, great acting, awesome build-up, only downside was when I saw it in theaters, my friend almost made my arm bleed with her nail digging. Damn, she had a hard grip when she got scared.

Michelle Pfeiffer plays a woman who is haunted. But is she haunted by the ghost of a murdered woman… or the un-reconciled fragmented memories before her car accident … or both? There is constant tension, no shortage of jump scares, and a riveting storyline to entertain most horror fans – minus the gore hounds. Highly recommended.

I’ve always had a soft spot for this film. Growing up, I would go camping every weekend throughout the summer in Vermont (the state in which I grew up) and one summer come to find out, this campground was now the set of WHAT LIES BENEATH, being my first experience with a film set (the neighbors house was actually built around a small brick cabin- like structure) I was very intrigued. Not to mention Harrison Fords kindness to all patrons of said campground, some of the crew actually gave us some leftover steaks to take back for dinner. Wow, I just went off on a tangent! The movie itself still holds up to what it was back then. Great suspense, and some creepy scenes (the Ouja board scared the shit out of me as a kid!) all in all a memorable film with A+ acting and direction.

Official Score: 3.5 / 5
