This movie is prolly one of my most favorite horror movies of all time. I love in almost all of Tobe Hoopers movies he has a creature or thing that is disformed and has been there forever waiting for someone. Thats how it goes pretty much in this movie with that crazed messed up looking hotel owner that kills people with power tools and shit lol. Ya some of the acting and special effects were bad but overall I loved this movie. It had a very claustrophobic and messed up feel to it. Not to mention I loved the slasher in this I thought he was so messed up looking.

When Nell (Angela Bettis) and Steven (Brent Roam) Barrows move into the historic Lusman building, things start going terribly wrong in Tobe Hoopers remake of “Toolbox Murders”. Nell finds a box in her apartment with some human teeth in it, her noisy neighbor Saffron (Sara Downing) gets suddenly very quiet, and her new friend and fellow tenant Julia (Juliet Landau) suddenly disappears.

Nell, who spends her days all alone while her husband works as a resident doctor at the local hospital, is plagued with these and all sorts of mysteries throughout the movie. As things get weirder, and the tenants of the Lusman began vanishing, Nell goes on a quest to learn the history of the Lusman in an attempt to sort out the odd occurrences surrounding her. Of course, she ends up with way more than she bargained for.

Bettis (as usual) is great in her role. She holds the film together, but she can’t save it. Too many plot twists, not enough explanation, and a confusing third act make the whole movie tough to follow. However, “Toolbox Murders” has a lot going for it as well.

It’s stylish, it’s creepy, and at times it’s just downright fun. I jumped through a couple scenes, and was on edge for several other. The principle photography and atmosphere of the film are very pleasing. There is also some pretty good death sequences, which really do take you back to the classic slasher films of the 70′s and 80′s.

I enjoyed “Toolbox Murders”. Not Tobe’s best work, but I can see what he was going for and I believe he achieved it. Horror movies rarely come full circle (in one film), and usually leave us wanting and needing more. “Toolbox Murders” is certainly no exception, but it does deliver a solid performance (Bettis), reasonable and sufficient gore, and a few good screams & laughs for the genuine horror fans out there.

Good, creepy movie with some good kills. Definitely worth watching more than once. Where’s part two?

This is better than the 3 skull review BD gave it. It had several nice kills and enough blood for us gore hounds.

Nowhere near as good as it’s potential.
The kills were entertaining, but the acting seemed far too forced and Angela Bettis is bloody annoying.

Skip it if there’s something better that you’d like to see first.

this movie just wasn’t good to me…It seemed okay at first but it just wasn’t interesting to watch and was just stupid. the only part i enjoyed was the beginning with Sherri Moon.

Umm different from the original but entertaing none the less. I like Sheri Moon in this her part was tiny but I love her to death she’s just cool. But that said this movie lacked alot of things that make a scary movie scary … like let me see oh ya a good script and good directing. Don’t get me wrong it’s a watchable movie but not the best movie ever made. I’ll give it… 5 out of 10.

I picked up this movie not knowing what to expect because nothing else sounded good at the video store. I ended up pleasantly surprised with they way this movie played out. Although the graphics are not the best, I felt the plot was intriguing enough to make up for it. I would definitely recommend this movie.

I haven’t seen the original, but thought this movie had more potential. For me, the slower parts dragged, the misdirection was too abundant, and the overall story wasn’t as filled out as it could have been.

Still liked it though. Good location and filming, plenty of gore, really fun characters, and each jump scene earned its place. Coffin Baby is awesome too, invincible and well beyond twisted like any proper psycho killer. Glad I finally watched it, glad I bought it, and glad I only paid five bucks for it.

I picked this up after reading the review from this site. I have to admit i was expecting more but hey sometimes you get a hit and sometimes you get a miss. It starts off promising with Sherri mooon being killed, sorry for the spoiler. The ending was just rushed and had tons of questions. The movie is suppose to havfe a supernatural presence but nothing is explained

The title is as simple as most of the movie…and about as boring, too. Some of the tools are put to good use in some violent kills, but that doesn’t make up for the rest of the snooze-fest. For most of his appearances, the killer is dressed like he is going to knock-off some 7Elevens, which isn’t very menacing. The characters are the usual kill set-ups, but are more annoying and sillier then most in this genre. It may have been worth the $5 I spent on it, but wasn’t worth the hour and 1/2 I spent watching it instead of something else.

Got this movie at the nearest flea market for 2 dollars on VHS and I can say I got my $$ worth.
The whole story of a killer lurking between the walls was creepy. Loved every minute of it!
