If only Nacho Libre had gore and crude sexual content . . .

That would be this movie. And as Mr. Disgusting said: this movie is far from perfect, but it is perfect for people like me (and him). The quirky action sequences, the primary colors, the so-simple-it’s-genius script . . . it’s unlike any live-action movie ever made. Period. But don’t expect a gorefest–every trick in the book is used to make sure there isn’t much blood on screen at one time. (The black-and-white sequences literally turning the blood into water are the biggest example.)

If you like the style, I cannot suggest to you enough that you must play Killer 7 (PS2) and No More Heroes (Wii), which follow the same style, but are much more over-the-top and disturbing with it. But for a live-action movie, this is easily one of the best followers of the punk over-the-top style.

When I first heard of this movie, it was in theaters after a trailer for Kill Bill Vol. 2. The trailer had me so hooked that I had to checked it out, and I’ve watched it many times since. Not only is the action great, but the acting and speech are also perfect. Unless you are like my brother, who thinks this movie is overrated, this is one of the perfect action movies.

Well this sure aint horror, but the name of the site IS Bloody-disgusting. And the goriest part of the film had to be in Black and White to get an R rating…. Still what a fucking sweet movie. Dont forget what a cliffhanger this was in the theaters, i was so pissed that i had to wait 6+ months to find out what happened.

Great movie. Can’t really say if it’s better than Volume 2 or not. Two totally different movies.

The music and the cinematography are what make this movie. Oh and the humor. How could I forget? “The price you pay for bringing up either my Chinese or American heritage as a negative is… I collect your fucking head.”

I really wasn’t sure if I was going to like this or not, since that I don’t really like martial arts films or stuff similar to that, but it turned out that I bloody loved it! What is there not to like? Uma Thurman played the role absolutely brillaintly and the style of the whole thing is amazing, I cannot reccomend this film enough. Had a lot of blood, the way it sprayed out was just part of its appeal and it really worked! I love revenge stories and Uma Thurman is just one big killing machine! The ending just left you begging for more! Now I just can’t wait to see the second one and hopefully she will kill bill!

The only complaint I would have would be that all the really gory bits were in black and white! But thats it really.

Kill Bill Vol 1. was easily my second favorite Tarantino film until the recently released Inglorious Basterds. I love nearly every single moment of this film (the only negative being the close up on Thurman’s hideous feet for way too long). The blend of styles and genres works amazingly well here and makes the movie a blast from start to finish.

For anyone who has an all-region DVD player, you should try and track down the unrated version from Japan. It’s really good and shows the House of Blue Leaves scene not only uncut, but in full color. Not to mention a few other cool bits I won’t mention here.

my thrid favourite Tarantino film (the first being ‘Pulp Fiction’ and the second being ‘Inglourious Basterds’).

Quentin Tarantino could not have made a better movie

Absolute rubbish. This was the film that confirmed that Tarantinos’ talent had run dry. A boring plot, characters you don’t care about and unoriginal fight scenes. It’s amazing that Uma Thurman was in this, i’ve never seen her act so bad and i was desperatly hoping that she’d kick the bucket so that the film would end. The only good thing about the entire affair was the soundtrack, and i’d have been happier to just listen to that. Seriously, ignore the hype and avoid.

Belasco, i respect your opinion but i think you’re nuts. KB1 was AMAZING and showed that Tarantino created a masterpiece! i don’t even know what movie you watched but it wasn’t KB1 (or 2 which was equally amazing!). Uma was spot on perfect as were ALL the players in this. i’d love to know what you consider a “good” film. KB1 & 2 get 10 out of 10 stars.

One of Tarantino’s best films, I know it was kinda unoriginal in some aspects but I look at it as a homage to old kung fu movies, so it didn’t bother me at all. Way better than the second one in my opinion. I mean you gotta love the pussy wagon lol. And the fight scenes towards the end were kick ass.

not a horror, what’s this doing here?

  20. Posted By Liam P. Woods on October 2, 2011 @ 11:20 am

Another is it a horror film? and again the answer is yes. If it were a book it would automatically fall into the horror category, due to the level of violence and the fact revenge killings tend to be on par with serial killers in the literary sense.
As for the film itself. As long as one looks at it as an homage then it is brilliant. If you were too hope that it was something original then I am sorry the movie should score rather poorly as it is Shurayukihime with other films mixed in for good measure even telling the story out of order is from Shurayukihime. However as homage it is just brilliant it takes the aspect of each of these films and blends them into a harmony that just should not be. Overall the film is excellent, but will become dated in another ten years.

Kill Bill is my personal favorite Quentin Tarantino film. The action scenes in Volume 1 were brilliant. The best part is when the scene gets to the House of Blue Leaves fight. The Bride really kicks some ass there!

Official Score: 5 / 5
