Thirty-two years ago, one of the most grisly chapters in the history of American crime came to an end with the arrest of infamous serial killer John Wayne Gacy. But the story didn’t end with Gacy’s conviction and eventual execution. Anchor Bay Entertainment presents Dear Mr. Gacy, premiering on Blu-ray and DVD December 14th, based on the shocking true story and best-selling book “The Last Victim” by Jason Moss, with Jeffrey Kottler, M.D. Starring William Forsythe (Rob Zombie’s Halloween, 88 Minutes, The Devil’s Rejects) as John Wayne Gacy, with Jesse Moss (The Uninvited, Final Destination 3, “Stephen King’s The Dead Zone”), and Emma Lahana (Girlfriend Experience), Dear Mr. Gacy was produced by Tom Berry, Clark Peterson, producer of the Academy-Award® winning film Monster, and Kellie Madison. SRP for the DVD is $26.98, and $29.99 for the Blu-ray. (more…) READ MORE
It’s been reported that Elizabeth Banks (SLiTHER, The Uninvited – to me always the cheeseburger girl from Wet Hot American Summer) is said to be in talks to play the female lead opposite Bradley Cooper in director Neil Burger’s Dark Fields, reports Comingsoon. The story follows a down-and-out writer (Cooper) who gets his hands on a top-secret pharmaceutical drug that makes one smarter. He experiences sudden financial and social success but soon discovers that the drug has lethal and lasting side effects, including “trip-switching,” a phenomenon in which time moves with a stop-motion quality. Before long, mysterious antagonists are pursuing him. The thriller is said to be in the vein of Fight Club and The Game. (more…) READ MORE
There was a juicy morsel of news hiding within the Paranormal Activity 2 announcement as it revealed that writer Michael R. Perry’s spec feature script, The Voices, landed in the third slot on the 2009 Black List (the best unproduced scripts around town). Voices is now set up with Doug Davison and Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment (Quarantine, The Uninvited, The Ring, The Grudge) with Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo) developing. Here’s the logline: Jerry, a schizophrenic worker at a bathtub factory, accidentally kills an attractive woman from accounting. While trying to cover his bloody tracks, Jerry starts taking advice from his talking (and foul-mouthed) cat and dog(!). (more…) READ MORE
Before any footage from a film is seen, typically a teaser or full one sheet is released by a studio. This is an incredibly important, even detrimental process as it is the first thing the consumers will see and identify with a movie. If the poster stinks, the consumer might write it off all together, while a good poster could lead to them checking out the official website, trailer and best case scenario, hanging it from their wall (the most personal relationship any of us have with a movie). To say the least, posters are damn important. As part of our year end coverage, we present to you the year’s worst theatrical posters. (more…) READ MORE

This evening we’ve added David Harley’s review of DreamWorks’ The Uninvited, their remake of A TALE OF TWO SISTERS that’s now in theaters everywhere. “UNINVITED isn’t as complex or involving as A TALE OF TWO SISTERS, but it’s a decent time waster that will be more appreciated on cable during a lazy Sunday afternoon than in the theatre.” Click the title for the full review and don’t forget to write your own review to tell other B-D readers what you think. Your review will be displayed on the top right of the front page for all to see! In addition, for those of you trying to decide if this movie is for you, Yahoo! has posted the six minutes of the film for you to check out. (more…) READ MORE
