‘Diamond Dead’ Still in Romero’s Future?

Remember that movie Romero was working on BEFORE Land of the Dead got greenlit? Yeah, the one about the rockin’ zombies that was supposed to star Marilyn Manson, Gwen Stefani and more mega rock stars. Well apparently Romero is still interested in doing Diamond Dead, according to a scooper at AICN. Romero tells the scooper that “there’s costume designs and everything, but they just don’t have the money to do it yet.” As you might know I was working pretty close to the project when it was initially in the works, and they lost the financing when Romero went off to do Land, but maybe him expressing interest will get these investors back. The Official Word on Romero’s ‘Dead Reckoning’

Jen over at Rue Morgue got the official word on this rumor floating around the web about the fourth romero flick, “Both Night of the Living Dead: Dead Reckoning and Diamond Dead (based on a script by Brian Cooper) have not yet been officially greenlit but Romero says, on the record, that they are very close to making a deal with Fox and Scott Free on the two films respectively. George Romero’s Journal Updated!

Over at Diamond Dead.com, George Romero updated his journal with a huge entry, here’s a taste, “Actually, I’ve been very busy. In addition to Diamond Dead, I’ve been working on Dracula, an MOW for TV, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, a Steve King novel which Steve trusted me to adapt for the “Big Screen”, and I’ve been doing some revisions on the script for my fourth zombie flick, Dead Reckoning. I’ve also been working on a novel called Alligator Point. I’ve tried novels before, never getting past page ninety or so before losing faith in the material (and in myself).
