great.
If they would stop putting out all of those PG-13 remakes and start releasing horror movies like “Dark Ride” horror fans would be a lot better off. This isn’t the greatest story, but then again it doesn’t have to be (just different). More importantly, horror movies have to be Rated R (boobs and blood are very, very important). This is a quality 80′s style horror movie, which made me enjoy it even more.
Boring, not scary, stupid….Bad movie.
good
it’s certainly not the best horror flick out there but it’s not the worst either. It’s good to watch if you are into carnivals and what not.
I actually liked this movie.
I thought it was pretty dull, despite one good death and some decent acting.
If your looking for a good carnival movie, then try tobe hooper’s The Funhouse, which was more original, scary and overall just a better picture, dark ride fails in plot and acting.
Was it as good as it could have been? No. But was it better than a lot of horror films that stay in theaters for a couple months, get big box office numbers, but are too awful to look at? Yes. A lot better! Even though it can get a little boring at times and since almost every character acts the same way, so it’s hard to make a special connection with at least one, Dark Ride is actually very enjoyable. The gore is awesome and the film itself is deeply disturbing. Overall, the film is pretty good, and I’d rather watch it 50 times in a row than watch crap “horror” films like the Prom Night and When A Stranger Calls remakes once.
Very dull indeed Jonah could of been a great horror killer but he was hardly in it! The last 15mins of the film is th eonly good bit when Jonah kills the kids. The ending was supposed to be a twist but please leave the twists to saw this made the film more confusing! One good death scene a good opening which is the only reason I kept watching NEED MORE CHASING KILLING!!! Like Jason movies or Michael Myers movies not all this boring sitting down talking crap!

Not the best but not the worst
what did everyone expect. most of the eight films to die for suck, and this is no exception. not horrible, but tolerable. don’t raise your expectations.
A group of college kids on spring break find a flyer in a toilet for the grand re-opening of a small towns “Dark Ride”. They soon realise the horrors that took place there over twenty years ago. As the body count begins the screaming begins.
Dark Ride was part of the After Dark Horrorfest in 2006 so I ws expecting it to at least be watchable. It was predictable in the end as at leats an hour before the end we figured who the killer was. It made me so bored just sitting there doing nothing wathcing this film.
The acting was not performed to the standard of what a horror film needs to be performed because acting sheer terror would be hard to do and this cast wasn’t assembled well. When purchasing this DVD I saw all the 2006 “horrorfest” DVD’s on the shelf and the cover just drew me. Turn to the back of the DVD and it looked by far the best one. I was wrong.
The plot was something that could have been great but with twists and turns I saw coming it didn’t live up to my expectations. It wasn’t exactly original as i felt that some scenes i’d seen before.
Overall Dark Ride is predictable but will scare you if you don’t see scenes coming. My rating is 2.5/5 .
Wow I can’t believe I spent 20.00$ on this movie. It was really boring, I expectet to see some good chase scenes, kills and scares but noo what we see is like 3 good deaths and boobs thats it.
coulda been good but no.
This was actually pretty enjoyable to me, it was very predictable, I knew who the killer was within the first 20 minutes. Overall though, it was better than wicked little things, penny dreadful, and unrest. It was just a fun movie, it was like the lake dead of the first batch, but i liked lake dead more. I know, most horror fans thought lake dead was the worst out of all the horrorfest movies, but I really enjoyed it, this wasnt to good, but the concept was cool.

Personally I thought this film was pretty fun. Boring HELL YES, but in the end it picks up and becomes worthwile. Nothing great but fun.
Not the worst horror movie I’ve seen by far but nothing really makes it stand out. The killer was cool and, at time, genuinely creepy but the kids were all annoying and the twist was lame and didn’t really have any impact on the outcome of the film.
i just dont understand why the little brother did what he did in the first place…otherwise it was good, but lacking a lot of umph!
i was extremely disappointed with this film. out of all the films in the first after dark horror fest, this was the one i was really looking forward. it’s completely boring, it’s mostly the characters just sitting around talking. there was really only one cool death, and the rest were boring. the acting was alright, but not good enough to save this film. such as shame too, because the killer was awesome and so was his mask, but not cool enough to save this film.
not tottaly bad, but not that good
I thought this was an alright movie. for what it was, it was pretty good.
A LOOOT of people hate this movie. I don’t know why, it’s not that bad. It’s got some scary parts, good gore, and I thought it was a pretty fun movie. Don’t care about ya’ll , I loved it. It’s not the best, but I loved it.
it was one of those movies that fallowed Halloween in some sense where a maniac escaped mental clinic then returned to where the story began. I thought it failed by giving the same old thing seen time and time again…I hear theres suppost to be a sequal. Totally not good.
Aside from the decapelatio bit and a fright here and there, Dark Ride has very little to show for it.
My favorite AfterDark horror film to date and the first one I watched. This is such a good slasher flick. Ya the acting is amazing but the killer is cool and it takes place in a haunted attraction. Very awesome film.
i liked this movie i think its one of the best films from afterdark and i was actually scared watching this movie. it was great and nice to see the catcher form the sandlot in it lol
This movie is one that definetly makes you feel a little crazy at the end. It is unexplainable really, you just have to see it for yourself.
I really wanted to love this movie but I wasn’t fully able to. The setting is great, the killer is awesome and the kills are absolutely enjoyable (and, btw, it’s similar to Tobe Hooper masterpiece The Funhouse). Unfortunately the movie is often very boring, the actors are dull and it’s just too redundant with lousy clichés.
This IS the worst horror movie that was ever concieved. It sucked because the killer was so slow a turtle could pass him. The acting was horrible and the gore was even low grade. Just a modern Failure.
I saw this movie on sci-fi and I had mixed feelings about it. The acting was horrible, but some of the killings in the movie made up for it. The ending was kind of a bust for me ’cause it was a little obvious who was doing it all. I would never buy this movie, but I do watch it every time it comes on television.
Let’s face it, it’s is VERY difficult to make a film that everyone has made, or redone, or…well you get the picture. I for one enjoyed Dark Ride. The one problem it had is there was way too much dead time in the middle before they enter the ride. I loved the gas station scene, the acutal “ride” itself. There were lots of neat moments like when she tries to grab for the hatchet. Too bad there weren’t more of them. Overall I liked it better than most horror flicks out in today’s world.
I THink it was a great film! love it! if you like slasher films you should def watch this one
I HAVE TO SAY IT WAS GOOD AND I ENJOYED WATCHING IT BUT IT WASENT MY FAVRIOT
Completely sub par. Bad acting, thin plot, weak cinematography. Skip this.
This is yet another movie with an incredibly HORRIBLE ENDING! The rest of the movie is just average. A stereotypical story about some stereotypical “college” kids who just want to have sex and fun. Which of course leads them all to being murdered. But the ending is just ridiculous…after running around screaming for an hour and a half while her friends are killed, Jamie-Lynn’s just allowed to walk out and leave?! C’mon!
BONUS POINT: If you ever enjoyed the hilarious spoof boy band 2Gether from MTV, then you should watch this just to see the blonde guy from that band getting some great “head”…that, at least, was funny.
This movie is boring and it seems that it almost ends very quickly. It has way too many running scenes, but it still has a great twist at the ending.
My favorite scene would have to be:
- Decapitation during fellatio
- The ending
- The murderer’s death
I didn’t enjoy this movie, but I was a little entertained.
A decent slasher that doesn’t get stale in the kills department!
I liked it
Didn’t like the plot holes
An effective, enjoyable if somewhat generic slasher with a couple stellar kills. One of the better horrorfest entries.
Well I Loved This Movie Closest To The Funhouse Remake we will probably never get :/ Well Theres always hope
This is a slasher flick, pure and simple, however, I really think this movie could have been better with a better script and more character development. The dialogue was rather cheesy and seemed forced for the most part, and the blonde hitchhiker left me staring at my television screen in wide-eye disbelief. Loved the kills, personally I think the killer saved the movie from total cheesiness, for which I was grateful. As I watched the movie I was rooting for it not to diasppoint me, and for the most part, it didn’t. Overall, a solid entry into the slasher genre.
