the only movie so far from the director of the Grudge movies that i like. this movie has a david lynch feel to it, so if your into david lynch and movies like that then you should enjoy this.

I like the direction the plot was heading before he found the girl better than after. It ended up having the same plot as Little Shop Of Horrors minus the plant. But still a great movie, definitely worth seeing.

This is a prime example of why Asian horror is far superior to American horror. It makes you feel damn uncomfortable. The creepy imagery and unpredictable plot beg you not to look away even though your fears tell you otherwise.

All he wants to see is true terror…

Impressive surreal/psychological J-horror from Takashi Shimizu, back in the days when he was still good. Dark and disturbing, eerie and suspenseful, with a tremendously interesting story, brilliant actors, terrific atmosphere, great camera work and fascinating monologue/dialogue. Highly underrated, a must-see for everyone who likes intelligent and thought-provoking horror.

“Takashi Shimizu shot the film in just eight days…” Yeah and it shows. This was a turd in my opinion. Confusing, boring, and nothing scary about it. A good premise with the subterranean Tokyo netherworld and all … but the film turned to crap in a hurry.

Official Score: 4 / 5
