I was excited to go see the Eye as soon as it came out! One because Jessica Alba was in it and, 2 because It was a remake! One thing you all need to know about me is I love remakes! This movie started off good and, was scary for a pg-13 rated movie. But, by the middle all the ghosts were gone and they went to Mexico. Once alba wanted to know who donated the eyes the movie got pretty boring until the end. all in all this movie was all right. Could have been better but, i still liked it.
No Bueno
At last a very decent PG-13 remake that is actually good.
Without watch Jian Gui before, this Lionsgate stand is suspenseful and has its scary parts.
Worth watching.
And good for Jessica!!!
Probably one of the best pg-13 horror films ever made.
When i was watching one missed call i said well the eye and shutter well be the same so by watch them. But i decided to watch them and let mke tell you the eye is one of the best remakes ive seen in the past years(including the ring)because it haves scares other ghost japanese remakes dont have,a very good ending, some blood and gore and the exploding cars scene was great so i totally recomend you to watch this one.
I loved the original and went in with pretty low expectations — but this is a damn good movie. One of the best remakes I can think of and I highly recommend this to any fan of subtle horror.
It reminded me a little too much of The Ring–as in, they ripped it off in structure–but overall it was okay. Nothing amazing, but a lot more quality than almost any other PG-13 horror movie I’ve seen. At least they showed the chick hanging herself, you know. Most other PG-13 horror movies would have cut off at that point, but this wasn’t that cheap.
They avoided all the obvious clichés I was sure they would use, which made me happy. They also focused more on daily life things than on the overdone horror elements. I think both these facts made it a lot more unnerving and mildly scary.
I’m just glad it was made with quality. It really was not bad at all.
Perfect in every way even with the happy ending
PERFECT IN EVERY SINGLE WAY I COULDNT STOP JUMPING FROM MY SEAT THIS HAVES TO BE THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER.
This was a very solid film from begininng to end. The suspense was good, the acting very solid and very atmospheric so that you almost felt like you were part of the film. Very well made for a PG-13 flick. If you haven’t bought this one I highly recommend it on Blu-Ray!
This movie deserves a 10 because it had good acting, a good storyline, it was scary, and it was awesome
Probably the best pg-13 horror behind the ring and the others
The eye is about Sydney (Jessica Alba), a blind violinist getting a transplant and she can see again. Unfortunately she encounters ghosts and spirits that are trying to tell her something. I’m actually surprised at the remake of ‘The eye’. It actually was scary in a few parts and was a step up in Jessica Alba’s acting direction. Although there are some parts I didn’t like in ‘The eye’. The only really main issue with ‘The eye’ is that it’s not scary but at the same time it’s interesting and actually works as a remake and a film.
It’s not as bad as you may expect it to be.
There were a few cool scenes, but the ending ruined it for me.
Well produced, well acted little movie that sadly just doesn’t deliver the goods. This is possibly Alba’s most grown up role yet, but she has to act in a deep sea of muck that just gets more and more dull as it goes along at a snail’s pace. There’s a few decent scares here and there and a small amount of suspense, but it can’t compare to its source material.
The Eye is a decent remake and people who haven’t seen the original might enjoy this.
the film is freaky, tense & jumpy. jessica alba is getting better. an enjoyable horror that your girlfriend can enjoy
Surprisingly fun to watch remake… or was it simply because Jessica Alba’s in it?
Not very good, I didnt like it much at all it is really hard to get into. I think it way too much like other movies. They should have strayed from the crowd of “seeing the dead” movies I think this is for people into movies like “The Ring”. Not a good horror movie at all.
this movie was crap it felt like every other bad j horror remake
This could have been a lot better. Had a good storyline, but just didn’t come out very well. Thumbs up for Jessica Alba doing a horror movie, but should have picked a rated R horror movie instead. PG-13 horror movies are getting to the point of being horrible no matter what it is.
I dont know if I was really tired while watching this movie, but it put me straight to sleep. The movie, in my opinion, was the worst remake ever (not counting the Vince Vaughn remake of Psycho)and possibly one of the worst movies of 2008. It got decent reviews across the board, but I honestly cant see why, every reviewer must have been a 13 year old girl who came out of the movie screaming “This was the best movie EVARRRRR” (which, every single piece of garbage that doesnt even deserve to be called a film, is usually their favorite, and amazing classics are either “booooooring” or “What the hell was that crap?”.
The only reason why I watched The Eye all the way through was because I thought Jessica Alba’s acting was hilariously bad, and as most men agree, she is really nice EYE candy (pun may be intended)
Overall, even though The Eye wasn’t the worst movie I have seen, its pretty close to the bottom of the barrel. Jessica, While you are a good actor in my eye’s, please dont attempt another horror movie.
Luckily, I got the DVD for free from Blockbusters buy 2 get 1 free deal, so I really cant complain, but if I knew it was going to be this horrid, I would have chose another.
I would give this movie a 1.5 out of 10, but I cant, so The Eye gets a 1 out of 10.
well i liked it and that all what matters to me.!
The Eye is yet another foreign remake that wasn’t brilliant, but also wasn’t disastrious. It had some fine key moments that will make you question things but most of the film is sheer thrill material.
Jessica Alba stars in a role that i think could have been better portayed by maybe Angelina Jolee but she made a effort. Her perfomence is somewhat believable and i think that she should lay low on the Horror genre.
Another remake that again un-like the original was unscary. The start was appealing but then when the film progressed i fell it lacked the big shocks. The plot was simple and appealed but i think it really lacked the shock factor which i thought was going to burst.
Overall it’s a unscary thriller thats worth a watch as there’s a few scees that will be memorable.
My rating is 2.5/5
Nothing special, but for me it was entertaining. I kind off liked it.
This joins “The Grudge (1 and 2)” and “The Ring” as one of the best PG-13 remakes of asian horror films. And to be honest, the original was terrible.
Forget about this tedious remake and rent the original one instead which was fantastic compared to this one.
Despite the occasional Boo! and Wow! this remake is one of those that could’ve stayed on paper.
this was very boring and dull. it dissapointed me
OMG this fuckin made me jump loads very good J-Horror Remake dont know why ppl dont like it?
Just…awful.
I could rant for days about my intense hatred for all things Jessica Alba, this film topping the list.
Not the best remake, but it’s still entertaining. Find the original instead though, it just feels more realistic in every way. Jessica Alba does a fine job, but the changes to story and locations almost ruin the movie. Interesting story if looking for a LIGHT ghost thriller…but the original is better, as usual.
I have not seen the original version, but the remake was not a complete waste of time.
Jessica Alba was not the strongest lead for this, but the story seemed to carry her along. The scares were minimal, but I found the story and the effects for the ghosts to be the strongest element keeping this movie afloat.
Also, I love Parker Posey, but WHY was she even in this?
very bad
I hated this movie, it wasn’t scary and just plain out stupid. I hated this movie, oh and by the way Grime you have shit poor taste in horror movies.
pretty good some parts were slow but it was an half decent movie:)
See “Jian Gui” instead. Go on, it won’t hurt a bit. “Jian Gui” is REALLY good. This one doesn’t measure up.
One of the best American/J-horror movies out there. I hate J-horror but this I think was above average. I liked the story a lot and man oh man Jessica Alba is great to look at. Not too bad of a movie but not all that great either.
This movie does not cause me nothing, not even scare a minimum, nothing absolutely nothing. Jessica Alba goes completely unnoticed, it is obvious that this type of paper is not for her.
It’s boring, very bad.
I have not seen the original, but I had a chance to watch this. I really liked the intense trailers and I LOVE remakes. (Yeah, so what?) I love the originals, but I dig remakes a LOT more.
I really liked it. It was suspensful, creepy, very atmospheric and intense.
Great acting, cinematography, score and cast!
good enough to watch, not good enough to remember.
This movie deserves a 10 because it had good acting, a good storyline, it was scary, and it was awesome.
