great tromaaa movie
hahahaha…this movie is great. funny and gorie. good film for both the troma vet or the newcomer
This ranks up there with one of the most screwed up movies out there. PNOTCD is Definitely worth watching.
ugh. in a good way.
Clucking Awesome!
This has to be one of the wildest, most fu__ed movies I have ever see. If you haven’t seen this, do anything you can to find it. One of the strangest, goriest and bloodiest of all time.
One of the greatest movies from Troma.lots of bloody and weird scenes.
if you havent seen it yet go get it
Other than the first Toxic Avenger film, i’m not really a troma fan. But this may change my mind a little. Not great in the horror dept. But super funny and offensive. Right up my alley.
people criticized this movie for its mediocre acting, bad production, and everything else they could think of. well, remember, the cast and crew were not paid at all. they did this for the pure fun of it, and i think that makes this all the more better. lloyd kaufman, the founder of troma, had been trying for years to get troma on the map, and could have, but many bootleg copies were put out prior to its release, and poor troma didnt make as much as planned. truly, i think it is a great horror comedy. only question i have, is what is tromas obsession with putting ron freakin jeremy in all its films? he adds nothing.
This movie has all the over the top gore offensive scenes and nudity you could want from a troma film this is in my opinion the best movie of 08
“Just like my old Grand Pappy used to say, get over here with them matches, this cross ain’t gonna burn itself!”
One word Amazing
When I first saw this film advertised in 2007, I thought that looked like another low budget piece of shit. Then when I saw that it got a lot of positive reviews, I respected its success, but I still did not want to see. Then, I really had the urge to see it because it looked like a film that takes a completely serious approach… to being completely ridiculous. Then, I finally bought it, saw it, and was completely satisfied with what I saw. It’s outrageously funny, gory, and over the top. The only thing I did not like about the film was the numerous musical numbers. Number one: they were only in the beginning, so I questioned why they stopped all of a sudden. Number two: they got to be annoying as fuck. But, other than that, I’m really glad I had a change of heart and gave this film a chance. Now I really want to see Terror Firmer and The Toxic Avenger.
Now I grew up watching Troma films and ya they sucked ass but they were fun too watch like The Toxic Avenger and Nukem High. But this movie was fuckin awesome. Loads of humor and gore to keep everyone satisfied. The songs were also really funny. A surprisingly good film. Trust me you are gonna want to check this out.
Watching Poultreygeist is like eating a turd for $500 – you think it will be worthwhile at first, but once you actually start, you kind of regret agreeing to it in the first place. As a fan of the old Troma films (namely ‘The Toxic Avenger’), I went in to this film with high hopes for some nasty and gory entertainment, but I felt shortchanged by the end.
I should start out by saying that the plot is nonexistent. Of course, that’s not much of a complaint for a Troma film. Anyway, my other complaint is that the nude scenes in Poultrygeist aren’t very good (as in the girls aren’t hot). Nudity is a staple of Troma Entertainment, so I was disappointed, to say the least.
There are many positive aspects of this movie, though. The grossness is ramped up (the bathroom scene is barf-worthy), and the gore is fine, but not as overdone as it could have been. The social commentary is smart, which I appreciated, but overall the film seemed a bit lackluster, and not in the good, Troma sense. It’s worth watching, though, particularly for Troma fans, but it’s not the best thing since sliced bread, like ‘The Toxic Avenger’ was.
A good troma but after a while i was tired of the singing….
I want my time back. This has got to be the one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The combination of amateur acting, terrible script, and irritating musical numbers make this film a collosal waste of time and money. Though it is a very low budget film, the money could have been better spent on absolutely anything. The only enjoyable part of the movie is that the female lead is cute and takes her shirt off a lot.
Blood, guts, feathers, musical numbers, zombies and lesbians-this is what bad movies are all about.. I went into this movie expecting a low-budget Troma flick, good for some laughs and groans, but this was better then I thought.. I was laughing the whole time, this film holds nothing back and mocks everyone you can think of at least once. The make-up, gore and effects were better then I expected, and the song lyrics were hilarious. Credit must be given to Kaufman, this is why he has made it this far making his kind of films- because he knows what bad movies are all about.. The characters are likable, the script is quite well written and the dialogue is quotable. All in all, a great helping of nudity, blood, and trash from the guys at Troma
This is the movie that launched me into loving Troma and I have to give this movie a lot of respect for doing that. This movie has it all, hilariuos gross out jokes, alot of gore and blood, and lesbians
. IF you are new to Troma and have never seen one then watch this because this is a great Troma film and Lloyd Kaufman is a f***ing genius. If you don’t like this movie you either don’t get it or have no real sense of humor, if anyone ever f***ing compares this to sh**, then they are f***ing retarded. This movie is great, WATCH IT, BUY TROMA!!!! 9/10
The most disgusting, tasteless, vile, unprofessional pile of crap I’ve seen all year! It seems like they tried so hard to make us laugh and gross us out that they threw all of their class out the window. I don’t mind raunchy comedies if it’s done right but this was brainless, it only grossed me out than making me laugh, maybe if I was stoned I would of laughed until it hurts but I know stupidity, borderline sex film when I see it. I gave it one extra star because it kind of has it’s so bad it’s good quality to it and there wasn’t a dull moment in this movie but it wasn’t smart or funny enough for me, just nasty crap that you want to take a shower after watching it, maybe that’s what they were going for. Not recommended!
MattSlash is obviously a retard; don’t listen to him.
I, along with many others, am in love with this movie. Grade A Troma right here, easily one of Lloyd’s best. Extreme gore and extreme nudity make this movie amazing, and the gore effects and the makeup are all done beautifully. Shot on gorgeous 35mm, and it looks GREAT. Just one complaint; it being a musical
this movie was so ridiculous i had to create an account on here just to chime in on this discussion haha. i agree with YoungHorror, the musical numbers were really dumb. i think there was 3 or 4 of them just in the first 35 minutes! ugghh… although one of them contained several half naked girls so i’ll bite my tongue on that complaint. overall the movie was hilarious with some of the most outrageous gore i’ve seen. peter jackson would be proud! highly recommended!
Has its moments, but it never really caught on for me. I enjoyed the old school gore effects, though. Very creative.
i thought that it was alrigth, but alittle to silly in my taste, like when the worker fucked the chicken when was that needed. it was weird but you know worth a watch
Not a huge fan of this movie…a good attempt at humor, but in the end an epic fail occurs.
Garbage.
This is a messed up film. It’s nasty and cheap, and politically incorrect. But it’s also pretty funny! And there is a bunch of gore in this too. Fans of cheesy troma films will love this.
I will never understand peoples infatuation with Troma releases, sure there have been a few good ones, but this one most definitely was not, maybe if I was still 13.
I haven’t laughed so much in ages. Lloyd Kaufman is a bona fide genius! XD
A true Troma classic. Its everything you want in a Troma movie. So good see Uncle Lloyd’s still got it!
Gross, sick, woefully politically incorrect..and a clucking good time! A manic horror-comedy-musical that showcases the Troma style and sense of humor. If your not into Troma this probably won’t change your mind but for fans it’s divine.
I’m not a huge fan of Troma but I liked some of them including Class of nuke’em high, so I heard this was good and gave it a shot. I didn’t even make it through the whole movie. Awesome gore and gross-out effects, but it was never very funny and I just didn’t get into it. It really is a true Troma film, but unfortunetly it’s one I just didn’t enjoy that much.
By all means I should not like this movie… but I do lol. I would even give it a 10 if it wasnt for the super annoying musical / dance sequences.
I was waiting for a movie like this to come along. “Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead” is a miracle, if miracles come in the form of sleazy, violent exploitation horror-musicals. It is a satire of so many things; but the film’s main focus and target is the fast-food industry. The satire is tasteless, potentially offensive, disgusting, violent, and yes, also quite funny. I tried to enjoy the film as much as I could; and with myself not being the biggest fan of exploitation films (or films directed by Troma’s leading man, Lloyd Kaufman), it’s perhaps more brave than I thought to like a movie like this one.
But it’s good at what it does; and it will deliver to anyone looking for a wild, shamelessly funny ride. I guess the film needs a certain audience to appreciate it, and Kaufman is essentially playing with fire when he crafts his film with that specific kind of appeal, but I admire his efforts. And I also admire “Poultrygeist”, for some odd, unexplainable reason. It’s the kind of movie that you’re almost embarrassed to say you enjoyed, but it’s not possible for a guy like me to lie.
“Poultrygeist” is a tale of love, passion, and mutant chicken-eggs that create poultry-zombies out of the living human beings of this earth. When a fast-food restraint specializing in fried chicken opens up to much protesters (who pretty much stand outside of the building for more than the first half of the film), things go wrong almost immediately. Apparently, and I’m spoiling a major twist here, the Native Americans are striking back against the, well, Americans; and all because of a sinister past-plot involving some hilarious Nazi/Holocaust symbolism and…chickens.
So there are characters; two high school sweethearts, an elderly and wiser version of the male partner, and the staff of the joint. The male gets a job there because his girl is outside with all the other protesters (against the slaughter of poultry). However, it all goes to waste when the chicken turns out to be the infected result of the “revenge”, and it turns out that all who eat it start dying in ridiculously violent ways.
I didn’t care about the plot of “Poultrygeist”. I didn’t care about the characters either. What I cared about was what Kaufman was trying to do with his movie, and I eventually accepted the flick for what it was. “Poultrygeist” is pure exploitation. It is filthy, rotten, vile, sometimes offensively unfunny, but for the most part, it’s tasteless fun. But that’s all dependent on what you think is “fun”.
The death scenes are hilarious and well-staged. There is one scene where a dangerously obese man eats one of the infected chicken eggs, has to run to the nearest restroom, and takes an absurdly obnoxious and loud dump. He dies, and then a thinner version of himself comes out of his prison-like-belly. If you’re ready for content like this, then you’re ready for “Poultrygeist”.
Another thing I liked was the many song-and-dance sequences throughout the film. It creates a half-musical out of the movie, which is always nice, especially when the songs are campy and, best of all, fun. It takes craft to make a movie as stupid as this good; but Kaufman did it. I don’t recommend “Poultrygeist” to those who can’t find humor in violence or the exploitation of ANYTHING; but sometimes we all need juvenile, immature, childish fun. And for me, “Poultrygeist” fit the bill just right.
lol holy crap! I mean, seriously! This movie has me at loss for words. I gotta say the opening scene had me instantly hooked. It was silly, hilarious, and totally gross.
It became a roller-coaster ride mix of horror, comedy, gore, and song. Some parts were great, others not so much. I gotta say I hated and also loved this movie. Actually, I feel like I SHOULD hate this movie, but instead I rather liked it…
