If you can handle the word “drama” in with your horror, I think you might get behind Julie Delpy’s period piece The Countess, which tells the true story of the legendary Elizabeth Bathory, who inspired many a vampire myth with sadistic rituals that included bathing in the blood of virgins. Beyond the break you can check out the first trailer that looks pretty interesting as it goes from romantic to haunting (I think the shot of her at the fireplace at the end says it all), along with a long synopsis.

Elizabeth Bathory, the most infamous serial killer in Hungarian and Slovak history, is one of Bloody-Disgusting’s fav historical characters as her story is pretty interesting (yes, she bathed in blood). You had a taste of her in Eli Roth’s Hostel: Part II (can you imagine an entire movie filled with sequences like the one featuring Heather Matarazzo strung upside down), now there are not one, but two new films coming that tell the story of the horrific killer.
