I.M.O. one of the best remakes ever. Almost a shot for shot remake, but managed to create a much darker feel.

crappy. Was there really a need to make this movie other than the date June 6th, 2006? You can tell they tried, and stayed true to the creepier parts of the original. The only thing I really liked was creepy Mia Farrow.

“A re-make of the original horror classic of 1976, this film offers nothing more than the original film has already given us, besides some admittedly impressive death scenes. This re-make is far below the standard set by the original film. The acting is stiff and stilted, with Liev Schreiber (as Robert Thorne) giving a thoroughly one-noted performance which proved to be quite frustrating to watch for over two hours. Even when he finds out about the incredibly terrible events that consistently occur throughout the film, Schreiber keeps an indifferent expression on his face. This undoubtedly makes many problems arise; how can the audience get involved in a movie if the actors are unconvincing in their roles? Julia Stiles does well, but she doesn’t work in her role as Robert Thorne’s wife, but Mia Farrow as Mrs. Baylock gives the film a bit of a spark in an otherwise dull film. The main thing is, is it scary? Damien is creepy enough, and there are some OK dream sequences that offer a couple of good jump scares. But this is all it offers in scares. The film is basically just a re-shooting of the original scenes, except they lack the energy and tension. There is no sense of foreboding, and it’s almost as if the film makers and actors were just bored and wanting to get it over and done with; it’s as if they hardly cared about making a good film. What was meant to be a gripping, horrific and intense viewing experience right up to the stunning climax becomes a boring and plodding time, and you just about lose interest in the whole story, and the characters. Overall, a very disappointing re-make, which begs the question: Why did they re-make it in the first place?” –David Duncan, imdb.com

pretty much the same as the original, i feel the boy in the original is more creepier than the one here, there is some nice scenes in this movie that has better elements than the original, but when you replicate almost identically a movie that has been made before, that doesnt mean it’s going to be better just because there is new modern cgi and other things to use to one’s aid, the film ultimatly is nothing new or different from the original.

“666 is the sign of the devil” quoted by The omen. I thought this was a decent remake with some nice gore effects. The whole film was creepy and showed that if you have a good story, great gory effects, and a twisted ending you have yourself a winner. This is not a guilty pleasure. It’s simply a great remake. This film made me jump a lot and I was highly entertained. The omen was a pretty good movie and is something you should watch if you are in the mood for something scary and gory.

I hated this movie.Liev Shreiber was the only decent acting in this hack remake.Damian was more funny than creepy looking. He looked like a pouting child after he realizes he’s not getting his way.The cheap jump scenes were pointless to the plot. This was a letdown like the psycho remake. If you like this over the original than your easily entertained.

Definitely not as good as it could be, but it still had its creepy moments. Not that great of a remake.

I wasn’t a massive fan of the original, but I liked this remake better. I know, I know. But really, The Omen is a great, powerful story of a possessed child. This isn’t your average horror movie, it’s more of a chilling thriller, with a great story. But, what makes my score so low is that the possessed child doesn’t look scary. The kid looks hilarious when he’s “trying” to be scary. I also felt the movie was a tad bit boring, it dragged on a bit and when there was a bit of action, there wasn’t much of it. But, the sound track was great, and the acting was solid, but that just isn’t enough to make me like it as much as I should.

    6/10

Ok, I took this movie for what it was. It turns out that it’s a pile of crap! It’s almost the exact same thing as the original, but it’s the cheap and rushed version! Music sucks, acting sucks, and the kid is just a big joke! This kid was not convincing or scary AT ALL! I can’t believe some people actually preffer this over the original! If you want to watch THE OMEN, I suggest you watch the original, and forget that this remake exists! 1/10

You can look at the BD one-sheet for this and know what you’re getting from the book cover. A very well shot, picturesque film that is missing the color that made the original so good. Maybe it was the 70′s factor, or Gregory peck in the lead, and Jerry Goldsmith’s score. The little things. The original was of course better. But The Omen remake is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. Its a very good shot for shot project, modernized slightly. But Julia Stiles leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and Liev is just a little too overstoic to put much intricacy into the character he is playing, but Farrow is awesome and the child – meh. Not great at all, but The Omen remake isnt bad either. Get off your remake hate horses. Youre right about the majority of what you mentioned, but try not to see the lot of remakes with shit colored glasses. There are some crystals (if not diamonds) in the rough.

This was actually one of the better horror remakes I’ve seen. Stylishly filmed and genuinely scary at times.

For me this is one of the better horror remakes in the 21st century since The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. I really like this film so far and I did enjoy it. I watched the original as well although I prefer this one over the original. This movie had the same feel just like the original only that the film is darker and scarier than the original. What I like about this film is that the new changes are really nice and there are a couple of great things about this film. The great things about this remake is that the movie is incredibly stylish and intense while the original focused on suspense and scares the remake also did the same thing only that the remake also has the creepy atmosphere which the original never had and I did prefer this one alot over the original. The kid looks really scary and creepy at the same time and the kills are scary and bloody at most moments. The best kill scene in this film is the decapitation scene when the photographer gets his head chopped off when the hammer slides and falls on the nail causing it to move down and slicing the guy’s head that was way more frightening than most horror death scenes nowadays that death scene is just the same to the original only that it is done in a different technique. This movie also has the creepy red demon which is shown in most parts of the film and it was shown in Julia Stiles dream sequences of every part in the movie and that red demon creeped me out also it was also shown running in the back of the priest before the spear from the church impales him. The music was also effective so far. The acting is great all the casts from the film did a good job with their performances in the entire movie. Director John Moore captured the brilliance of the 2006 remake of the 1976 classic and he did a good job with his directing in the film. Overall this remake of the 1976 classic is atmospheric and suspenceful at the same time.

This movie was a terrible pile of mess. It completely insults the orginal film! Julia’s acting was the only good thing, but didn’t make this crap any better. The little emo Damien wannabe was more annoying than scary!

This remake is not really scary, had a moment or two, but that was it really. Havenâe(TM)t seen the original but am planning on it (It will happen), the movie has dull directories and a pointless & boring plot, the acting is melodramatic the only good performance out of this movie was Pete Postlethwaite and the boy who played Damien Thorn, I think was only pick because he looked evil & creepy which should be enough but wasnâe(TM)t with his bad performances. The Films utterly boring, but will give it credits for the head off and for Julia Stiles character failing (that was beautiful filmed).

This movie was just a shot by shot remake of the original, which in other words means a waste of film and time. Really though if your gonna remake the movie do that, don’t make the exact same film 30 years later. I guess when you remake an iconic movie like this your setting your self up for failure. Oh, and the new Damien sucked, just sayin. Stick to the original trust me.
