A hilarious, fun and faithful to the original’s gory violence, ’2001 Maniacs’ is one of the funnest gore films seen in some time.

This movie was another fun one. It had plenty of B rated horror, humor, and gore to keep most fans interested. Much like the original, but this movie for a modern day flick was good. I would recommend this to people who enjoy gore and nonesense in their horror movies and even if you didn’t this movie would be hard to dissappoint.

Hated every second of this insult to the horror genre. “Camp” does not belong in horror, save it for the drag shows.

While there are some good performances, perhaps the best by Lin Shaye and genre favorite Robert Englund, there’s not much else to be found here. The young actors, while good-looking (especially the ladies!) can’t act their way out of a paper bag, and the rest of the aspects (gore effects, cinematography) are just awful. However, there was a certain quality about this that wouldn’t let me hate it, and for that I’ll give it 2 and a half skulls.

Let’s see. A group of teenagers get lost in the wrong part of town and end up in the hands of deranged, merciless killers. Hmmm… This has potential if you like to watch Kathy Bates wash her feet.

I had the pleasure of sitting through this film only to forget that it was playing in order to discuss the ramifications of a world without butter. No, seriously. Robert Englund has not been relevant for a while now, and he is utterly terrible in this film, kind of a Freddy Krueger meets Colonel Sanders.

This is a fun film to watch and one i loved, ok a group of teenagers get lost in the woods blah blah blah, but hey i laughed grimaced and enjoyed myself watching it. the acting is solid the FX and bloody gore count is pretty good and storyline had me wanting to see it to the end so all in all to me a thumbs up.

I caught this on Showtime one evening and couldn’t turn it off. I knew it was ridiculous and low budget but was content with the idea of a movie that wasn’t trying to lie about it. The gore is fun (pig roast: boys beware) and Robert Englund has added another character to his long list of horror movie creeps.

great film. cheesey effects, cheesey acting, and robert englund. whats not to like? gets pretty gory, too, which is always good. robert englund gives one of his most outrageous preformances as the confederate flag eyepatched leader of the town of redneck cannibals. i was impressed by the unique kills as well. fun.

I enjoyed this movie. Yes it is a B-rated movie there is no doubt about it. But it is extremely amusing. You will either love it or hate it. The acting is not bad although some of the actors clearly got their parts because that had to have known someone or they called in a favor, which is not surprising, since the writers hit on every cliché in the book so to speak…. redneck zombies, a lot of blood & sex, girl on girl action, guy on guy action etc …
Lots of blood and guts and interesting ways to off the characters, which I have to give the director credit for. At the very least if you have Netflix I would say it’s worth renting. Personally, I own the movie as I enjoyed it and found it fun to watch.

Acting: Cheesy and awesome at the same time. 10/10

Special Effects: Top notch gory b-grade violence……..SWEET! 10/10

    Best Scene: The ending 10/10

Ending: The ending is awesome, I love movies where no one survives. 10/10

Im not going to lie to you this movie is a terrible movie the script is terrible. This movie has got a ton of gore. Allot of nudity and creative deaths. It goes through every negative steriotype of the confederate south. Originally I hated this movie but after I watched it I couldnt stop thinking about it now I am in love with this movie. With Robert Englund as the star of this movie who could loose. This movie stuffed the envolope in shock cinema as far as Im concerned. It is so refreshing to see a horror movie were no one makes it out alive. This movie had some wonderfull deaths in it I could not beleave the amount sleaze this movie had a under the radar classic to say the least.

This movie is just a a whole lotta fun. The film is not very well written or performed. But it’s really well executed. Has tons of great death scenes, really hot guys and a really clever and unique take on the genre. The film has some disturbing moments but over all it’s just a really great time. everyone is having tons of fun making it and Tim Sullivan is one of the most promising new director sin the genre. he knows his audience and he knows how to have a great time with it. Enjoy!

Well plot wise there’s not much. A couple annoying city-folk wander into the wrong southern town. Why’s it the wrong town? Because this town only appears every 100 years & the inhabitants are dying to eat them, um I mean meet them. Pretty high gore quotient, some real nice southern sweeties & Robert Englund, well doing what he does!

Every now and again your brain does need to relax.

This is a remake of the Two Thousand Maniacs and it surprisingly better than the original, which isn’t much to go on. It follows 8 college students who are travelling to Florida for Spring Break when they stumble across a remote town in Georgia with the inhabitants wanting to avenge their deaths by the hands of Union Troops in the Civil War, almost 100 years earlier.

There’s nothing much to this movie, it’s a shameless movie with little substance but do you really care when it comes to something like this? It’s a B-Movie in all its glory. Gore, guts and sex. Freddy Kruger stars, I’m sorry Robert Englund stars, as the mayor and he does a good job as the sadistic leader, who also should at least make it into some people’s top horror villains lists. It’s definitely a horror/comedy film, there’s no disputing this fact and with so many disappointments with this crossover of genres it’s nice to see something that works quite perfectly together. Obviously there are clichés, they follow a detour sign, but what B-Movie is complete without a few clichés. Some of the deaths scenes are too gruesome but it’s your prerogative if you watch this. It’s not for the faint-hearted and not for people who like a sophisticated horror movie; it’s just a fun no-brainer with nothing to it and a few winks to “Deliverance”.

    6.0/10

Shameless and wicked little movie that does improve over the original but it’s still nothing special. A definite worthwhile see for horror fans, those looking for substance and decent acting steer clear.

Picked up this gem for 4 dollars at my local dvd store. I wasn’t really expecting much due to the fact I have seen the orignal and well that was a bit of a bore to be honest but boy was I wrong. Sure this movie isnt ground breaking and the actting Is poor, but what it lacks in substence it makes up for in shear gorey fun this movie isnt ment to be taken seriously at all. And if all else fails just look at Christa Campbell. haha

Well, I can honestly say that the guys in this film who stumbled upon Pleasant Valley did not have very much fun getting killed and hacked up in various gruesome ways, but I sure had fun watching them not have fun. Teehee.

Tim Sullivan(Driftwood, 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams) does a fantastic job bringing this film to screen with the utmost amount of fun, with everything else taking second place. His direction is top notch, and his camera work and execution really sell this film to the viewer. The pacing is great, which I credit to his awesome direction and the very cool elements written into this film. We get excellent performances by many of the actors in this watch, with the crown going to the ever awesome Robert Englund as Mayor Buckman. The level of fun Englund has with this role is obvious, and it plays very well into selling his fantastic performance. We also get Lin Shayye as the female ringleader, Granny Boone, as well as Guiseppe Andrews(Cabin Fever, Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever) portraying Harper Andrews, one of my favorite characters to watch. To make things EVEN cooler, we get Eli Roth(who I am not the biggest fan of, but still) playing the same hitchhiker character he played in his debut film, Cabin Fever. Fans of the original film remember the awesome kills we were given, and are probably asking how the kills are in this re-imaging, right? Well, let’s just say that they are just as enjoyable as the ones we get in the original. The gore reigns high in this one, and we get some truly gruesome and fun kills to laugh at and enjoy.

Story-wise this film follows the original for the most part, adding a few things and leaving a few things out. The dialogue for the Pleasant Valley characters was terrific, and I applaud writers Tim Sullivan and Chris Kobin for adding even more fun to this watch with such dialogue. The revenge element we get in the first film is not very present in this flick until very late in the film, but nonetheless revenge is revenge and I am glad they kept in in the film. Our main protagonists provide a fair amount of fun as well, with a fair selection of characters from different walks of life. I must admit though that these characters’ best purpose was being killed by the residents of Pleasant Valley, who were the real stars of this film. Heh.

Overall, this is a fun and awesome remake of the 1964 classic Two Thousand Maniacs! that comes with buckets of gore, insanely awesome kills, an awesome Robert Englund performance, and lots of southern charm and all the other fixins that make the south so great. Definitely recommended.
