Best & Worst ’10: MR. DISGUSTING’S TOP 10 OF 2010

I’ve been pretty fortunate over the years as I’ve been able to attend many film festivals, and see a hefty amount of flicks before they receive distribution. If we’re to continue to be the #1 source for horror, we need to stay ahead of the curve. While the best & worst lists of Bloody Disgusting contributors mainly focus on films already released in theaters/DVD/Blu-ray/VOD, my list carries quite a few titles you’ve yet to see. Keeping constant to my previous lists, inside you’ll find my top 10 films that I saw in a theater this year. Based on my picks, I can’t pretend that I’m not concerned about the state of our genre. With the exception of Overture Films, the studios came up extremely short this year. Sigh. (more…) READ MORE

M. Night Shyamalan Thinks It’s ‘Happening’ Over At Fox

M. Night Shyamalan never started on a good foot if you ask me, I’ve always felt he was overrated and after his last two pics (The Village, Lady in the Water) I thought the suits in the studios finally had their eyes opened. Apparently some have as Shyamalan is moving on to yet another studio – 20th Century Fox has pledged a green light for The Happening, a spec script thriller that Shyamalan wrote and will direct in Philadelphia this August. Read on for details. (more…) READ MORE

The Trailer Park: Final Look at Shyamalan’s ‘Lady in the Water’

If you head on over to Apple.com you can watch the final trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s Lady in the Water, which hits theaters July 21st. In “Lady in the Water,” a story originally conceived by Shyamalan for his children, a modest building manager named Cleveland Heep (Paul Giamatti) rescues a mysterious young woman (Bryce Dallas Howard) from danger and discovers she is actually a narf, a character from a bedtime story who is trying to make the treacherous journey from our world back to hers. Cleveland and his fellow tenants start to realize that they are also characters in this bedtime story. As Cleveland falls deeper and deeper in love with the woman, he works together with the tenants to protect his new fragile friend from the deadly creatures that reside in this fable and are determined to prevent her from returning home. Giamatti Shares Voice in Zombie’s ‘Superbeasto’

Paul Giamatti (Lady in the Water) will headline the voice cast of Rob Zombie Presents the Haunted World of El Superbeasto, in production at IDT Entertainment’s Burbank studio, according to the Hollywood Reporter. He will play Dr. Satan, the film’s villain (from House of 1000 Corpses?). The 2-D animated comedy, based on the Spookshow International comic book “The Haunted World of El Superbeasto” created by Zombie, follows the exploits of a washed-up Mexican wrestler, El Superbeasto, in the mythic world of Monsterland. El Superbeasto will be voiced by Tom Papa, his sister Susie X will be voiced by Sheri Moon Zombie and the robot Murray will be voiced by Brian Posehn. The film will be produced by Tom Klein, with Rob Zombie serving as exec producer. IDT Entertainment Sales is handling international distribution. Oddly enough this confirms reports that Giamatti is a horror fan, maybe he will join the Bubba Ho-tep sequel? (more…) READ MORE
