Have any of you had a chance to read Joe Hill’s graphic novel “Locke & Key” yet? If not, go and pick it up as it’s an engaging Lovecraftian story that really shows what the son of Stephen King can do. With that already being adapted for the big screen, Mandalay Pictures has optioned the film rights to Hill’s upcoming novel Horns, about a man who wakes up one morning sprouting horns on top of his head. It’s pretty crazy that just yesterday one of my friends was telling me about a graphic novel entitled Locke & Key, a graphic novel written by Joe Hill, son of the great Stephen King. He told me it’s a must read and I need to get it ASAP. Apparently he was on to something as Dimension Films acquired rights to adapt the potential franchise to the big screen. Read on for the skinny. Neil Jordan will rewrite and direct Heart-Shaped Box, an adaptation of the horror novel by Joe Hill, for Warner Bros. Pictures. Akiva Goldsman is producing, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The book, published in February, centers on a rock star obsessed with the occult who buys a suit advertised at an online auction site as haunted by its dead owner’s ghost. He ultimately is forced to confront the ghost and the demons of his own past. Tom Pabst wrote the original draft. Hill is the son of Stephen King, who chose his pen name out of a desire to succeed based on his own merits. After achieving some success — among the awards he has collected are the Bram Stoker Award for best fiction collection — he revealed his identity. (more…) READ MORE
