I have to say rather enjoyable….kudo’s to Ron Perlman for a great performance….
Beheadings, a kick ass monster, and decent gore made this last Saturday one to remember.
i thought it was decent. probably one of the best looking monsters i’ve seen in awhile.
If you’re a creature feature fan you surely won’t be disappointed!Loved the concept and the creature is just superb!Probably one of the most entertaining flicks I’ve seen in ages!Simply awesome!
This was a very entertaining film I would of went to the movie house for this one and it would of been worth every penny. the love story was a little too forced and way too long. sould of made her more of a warrior than a damsel. Ron perlman should of been more of a central part of the plot, it would made more of a kick ass film. I give this film a B- overall.
After watching this film, I have to say it was one of the best sci-fi/fantasy films I had seen in a long time. It’s too bad the Weinsteins didn’t give the film a wider release. Jim Caviezel did a fantastic job as the protagonist. Everyone else did a great job as well. Outlander is also a great monster movie. I like monsters that are visually interesting to look at and the Moorwen is one of those monsters.
Great movie, fantastic special effects and action sequences and some good tongue in cheek performances by all save Mr Caviezel (Perlman was excellent!) who had more wood than Sherwood Forest.(and that was not a “nob” joke).
…a “buyer” for sure.
Liked the story line for it, but felt it fell a little too short. Did think the creature was cool looking although maybe a little too fake, but what the hell. I like the idea of sci-fi in older times, just seems cool. Hope someone else can make a decent picture with this kind of idea.
Somewhere between the 8th and 11th century, the ultimate collaboration bore fruit in the form of a little poem that I like to call Beowulf. Back then, this poem was epic. The only problem was that the people of Earth didn’t know about outer space, so Beowulf was missing some key elements: space, space ships, a space man, space gadgets, and vengeful space aliens. Now, thousands of years later, someone has finally corrected the problem, and thus Outlander is born! Awesome! I will now complete this review in the original Nordic: Vad heter du? Jag heter Outlander! Who green lit this project? I want to have a drunken shield dance-off with you!
Enjoyable story and not just because the setting is different than the norm. Worth checking out.
A very good film. It’s got an interesting concept and the monster is pretty awesome.
Outlander was a mixed bag. It had very good set peices, the CGI landscapes and such were well created and it was always entertaining. The creatures were well designed, but that was offset by the poorly rendered CGI models of them in the film. They are interesting in design but they don’t look to good. The script was also poorly executed. Should you pass on this film or hunt it down? I say neither. It is one of those films that you watch to kill time. Don’t get me wrong, it’s entertaining throughout but the poor script and CGI creatures take it down a couple notches. Still worth checking out at least.
Score: 6.5
This was simply awesome!Great story, acting, gore, and for most part incredible creature effects. This should of been a mainstream theatrical released film.Highly recommend.
Wow, this movie was simply awesome!
I just expected some lame Predator rip-off, but instead I got a great movie with a great story, great actors, great gore and one hell of a awesome creature. The Moorwen became quickly one of my favourite monsters ever. It was also a nice touch that they even explained, via ‘origin’ story, why the Moorwen kills.
The village attack scenes were also nicely done and were full of suspense, because you just have to love every single character in this movie. If you like Alien, Beowulf or Predator this movie is definetely a must-see.
Highly Recommended!
