Dark Waters is a great film. This is highly recommended if you are into Dario Argentos work in Suspiria and Inferno, as to there are a great mix of colors, darks and lights, that give this movie a truly dreamlike feel at times.
The story is decent, as it follows a girl trying to unveil the truths behind a cult/religion that her deceased mother was once a part of. The movie has its share of blood, violent murders, and a demon-like creature.
The filming is very creepy at times, with an intensely creepy score, which is what I believe really helps the movie live, without it, this film might not have a great effect.
The effects/gore are moderate, but all scenes which involve it are filmed well. If you are strong fan of Argentos work in Suspiria, I would not hesitate to check this film out. A very dark and sinister film overall.
One of my favourite euro horror films, might as well had been named “Cthulhu Monastery”.
You don
This is in my top ten horror movies of all times. A lot of comparisons to Suspiria. Suspiria is boring. Dark Waters creeped me out in a big way. What horror movies should be.
just took too long to actually get going. in trying to make all this creepy atmosphere it made the first hour of the movie slow and uninteresting. i think the idea is awesome, but in the end it’s not very good. one more thing, the score is absolutely awful.
It tries to be like Suspiria or The Beyond – but the final product falls short of these by a mile. The director definitely put a lot of effort into this film with atmosphere and camera work. The premise is original and captivating and there was so much potential. But the movie somehow became a turd before my eyes and I lost interest and wanted it to end halfway through. Instead of being scared – I was annoyed and disappointed.
