Being that i was a huge Hostel 1 and Hostel 2 fan i was excited when i heard about this third installment coming out. The fact that Scott Spiegel directed this one instead of Eli Roth had me quite unsure of how it would turn out. Im not going to say this was a great movie cause it wasn’t but there were definitely things that made it worth the rental. The twist at the beginning of the film helped set the tone for what i could expect throughout the rest of the film. The acting was sub par but the story itself made the bad acting bearable. (again i really liked the twists they threw in.) The kills seemed a little pg13 as most of the time the camera cut away which really makes me wonder if the budget was that low. All in all if you have seen the first two you might as well see this one too. Just go into it expecting nothing more than a mediocre B movie and you’ll be fine.
Awful. Why didn’t Eli Roth do this? Part 1 and 2 were awesome but this was awful.
This movie would’ve been good if they didn’t call it as part of the hostel franchise. It had some good hostel elements to it but in the end it didn’t really seem like a genuinely hostel movie judging by the first 2.
Bad movie. I sat through it pretty much just waiting for the appearance of the latex torture chick who killed the gimpy kid. I did like the gambling hall twist they added to the otherewise now-stale formula of the Bloodhound Gang, same for the not-quite-naked chicks who walked around serving drinks, but yeah… nothing to see here, people. Wasted opportunity considering the Las Vegas setting.
i enjoyed. had everything a Hostel movie has chicks, crazy kills, and dumb fun. wasnt a fan of the jungle chick or her kill but overall pretty cool. good to see ol Matty again outside of Nip/tuck. wasnt expecting what i thought was the ending, then wasnt expecting the real ending.
There’s only one scene in the entire movie that remembered me that I was watching a movie of the Hostel franchise in a, otherwise, very flat movie. I’m still thinking about what happened in that moment. Perhaps they were recording the movie and someone thought: “Sh*t! It’s a Hostel movie, so it must have some gore. Let’s introduce it here in this non-important scene”.
I felt really disappointed with this one.
I saw this on Fios on demand and it blatantly gave away the main twist ‘not that it wasn’t expected’ but to have it written in the program description was messy.
This movie had weak kills and the gambling aspect of the plot was not shown much at all.
Just when I started to get into the movie I looked at the time and there was only 18 minutes left.Time management wasn’t handled well at all.The effects were very average and for a Hostel film there were very few.
I will say that those last 18 minutes were really really good which just made me think why couldn’t they have put more effort into the rest of the movie?
All in all I give it 2 and a half stars for the first hour and 4 stars for the last 30 minutes.
Good movie, not as good as the first two, but definitely worth a watch
Maybe one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. There is nothing redeemable about this at all. I hope that Mr. D was paid off for his positive review because at least that would be slightly better than just having absolute shit taste in movies. Basically, take the terrible, stereotypical characters of the first film and add not a single redeemable kill scene and you have Hostel III. The added twist of people betting on how the kills will take place is glossed over and makes no sense, as is. It was far creepier in the first two films that the elite rich were paying for the privilege of taking a life. The twist of them now simply watching and guessing on what might happen takes the series two steps backwards. And it bears repeating, the kills are awful. How do you not at the very least up the ante on the kills when it’s clearly going to be a straight to DVD schlock fest? Avoid at all costs.
Quickly fast paced, Mindlessly brutal, violent, graphic, gory and more disgusting than the previous predecessors Hostel Part 3 is the best Hostel film in the Hostel franchise. While the first two Hostel films were average and decent the third film in the franchise changed it all. This film seriously went to a new direction from the settings until the torture scenes. I really enjoyed this movie. This film has everything you need for a Hostel movie so far. This movie was really fast paced until in the later on scenes it moves faster like your racing against an opponent in a race car which was really good for this movie. This film was incredible the plot was really well paced and it was intriguing as well and since I like the plot of the film and the pacing of the movie was really fast and well paced there are other great things I would like to say about this film. What I also like about Hostel Part 3 is that they changed the setting of the film since the first two films takes place in Europe this movie takes place in Las Vegas which is quite good for a Hostel sequel so far. I really like the idea that they placed the film this time in an American setting instead of a European setting. While the setting of the film is incredible the great things about Hostel part 3 is that the film is really suspenceful and it is more suspenceful than the first two Hostel movies because the first two Hostel movies mainly didn’t have enough scares and thrills even some suspense as well which makes this movie even better. And since those are the great things about Hostel part 3 the other great things about this movie is that the torture scenes are really different this time and all of the torture scenes in this film are seriously on screen and really intense as well. All the torture kill scenes in Hostel Part 3 are really graphic and nasty as well and since in the first two Hostel movies we got people getting their toes and fingers cut off with a pair of pliers. We also see people getting their nose cut off graphically with a pair of scissors and last but not least we see people getting beheaded violently and they use the head as a soccer ball and they play soccer with it. Here in Hostel Part 3 the torture scenes are seriously different because in this film the Elite Hunting memebers are gonna make a bet on which weapon they want the person to use to kill the victim and once the weapon has the highest bet that’s what the person will use they can watch the victim die as the person tortures and kills the victim and the torture scenes in this movie are more graphic and disgusting than the first two Hostel movies here in part 3 we get to see people’s face being cut violently and graphically by tracing a mark on their face first and the person who will kill the victim will proceed to use a scalpel to trace the marks on the face and the person will remove the face of the victim. Then we got people getting shot with nine arrows from the stomach to the face and let’s not forget the nastiest and the most ickiest torture scene where we see a person getting killed where the person who will kill the victim by placing cockroaches all over the body until the roaches goes for the mouth that’s the nastiest and the most ickiest torture scene you need to keep an eye out because that scene will make you vomit because the way the person will kill the victim in that scene is seriously icky and hard to watch. Now the acting is great in the film Kip Pardue(The Wizard of Gore remake) did a good job with his performance in the film as the main antagonist in Hostel Part 3 while the rest of the casts did a good job as well with their performances in the movie so far. Director Scott Spiegel(From Dusk Till Dawn 2 director and Hostel Part 2 producer)did a good job with his directing with this movie so far and writer Michael Weiss did a good job with his writing on the film as well so far. I also have to say that since Hostel Part 3 is not only the best Hostel movie in the Hostel franchise it is also one of the best Direct To DVD sequels of 2011 since Quarantine 2 Terminal and Wrong Turn 4 Bloody Beginnings so far. Overall Hostel Part 3 gets a 10/10. Thank you Director Scott Spiegel and writer Michael Weiss for making a good Horror sequel for Horror fans I’m really proud that you did a good job with this film so far thank you Mr Spiegel you did a good with your directing so far.
The movie looked cheap all around. The acting sucked and so did everything else.
A great step down from Hostel 1&2..while amusing at times the whole movie feels greatly sanitized and toned down compared to the first two films…where did the gore go?
You know what your getting into with this movie. If you liked the last two, you will like this one. Cool twist in Vegas
Mr. D – Hostel III “…is quite ambitious, loaded with unique twists and turns that will engage you until the very last frame” and “It’s an enthralling and unique spin that takes the franchise to a new level.”
That review is almost as bad as the movie. Just horrible. Bad acting, bad kills, no gore, shitty wtf ending…there wasn’t anything redeemable in this movie. Do not pay heed to Mr. D and listen to guttersnipesurf below, avoid at all costs. Not worth it.
Hostel: Part III definitely turns out to be just as good as the first two if less atmospheric, less bloody( it was more restrained this time around but just as vicious) and less inventive but still had a few new tricks up its sleeves. The pace was faster than ever for the series and had a few good twists here and there with pretty likable leads that you root for to stay alive but nothing quite new added to the story making it mosty routine but entertaining this time but towards the end it seemed rushed. To me it tops the first one when it comes to thrills and entertainment value but not in kills or intensity but to me Hostel 2 is still the best one because it was the most atmospheric, suspenseful, inventive, brutal and well performed one yet the third one though didn’t really breath new life into the series it still put just enough ignition in it to keep them going for a fouth installment or maybe more. Overall a very surprisingly decent direct to dvd sequel of to me a now top torture franchise that I can stand because I usually don’t like most torture films but this series is an exception and if you love the Hostel movies you will likely enjoy the latest edition that doesn’t let down the first two and for not being awful that it definitely could of been I have to recommend it to diehard gore hounds. Bring on Hostel: Part 4! 7 out of 10
Crap! one okay scene and that is it.
This one is really on the ball with a good script. It has a lot of interesting twists and turns. It also satisfied me in my curiosity such as what would happen if…well get the DVD it just might satisfy your curiosity too. Whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas…..not. I am pretty sure another sequel to this franchise will be in the works. I will look forward to it as usual. They might take it back to Germany, isn’t it where it all started?
Much more enjoyable as a film and not as dreadful of torture, although it contains alot of torture, its more creative with the deaths and i felt the overall storyline as it progressed was interesting to watch and see what would happen, some good twists and turns make it more watchable, not a great film by any means, but for part 3 straight to dvd it does succeed
Definitely a huge step down from the first two, Hostel 3 is a crap spin off that doesn’t have any of the tension or style of the original. The whole Vegas locale-thing instantly takes all the Euro-sinister feel away from what a Hostel viewer would kinda expect, leaving a hollow and very second rate horror bastard in it’s wake. Hostel 2 wasn’t good, either, but part 3 is just flippin’ lame. Just rewatch the original Hostel and be happy.
I was a bit disappointed to see that Hostel 3 was not created by Eli Roth, but such things happen and I had to deal with what Hostel 3 is. Hostel 3 is a direct to dvd film that isn’t filled with any major stars or producers.
Despite this, I found the film to be enjoyable. It takes a different, yet still sinister spin than the first 2. I did like that this film was not filled with nudity much like for the first 2, it just got straight to the story and action. The effects/gore aren’t as good obviously because the budget is not as good, but I still felt like everything was done well.
Overall, I had no complaints of the acting. It was not as good as the first two, but it was to be expected. It involved a good cast with a couple familiar faces.
I would recommend this one, but just remember what this film is. It is not a major motion picture with a big budget.
The third instalment of the Hostel franchise sees friends, Carter (Kip Pardue), Justin (John Hensley), and Mike picking up Scott (Brian Hallisay) for his bachelor party in Palm Springs, only theyâe(TM)re not going to Palm Springs, theyâe(TM)re going to Vegas! The guys meet two girls and after some debauchery, wake the next day missing Mike. The classic horror film search begins and the group start to delve deep into world of extreme sport hunting, and find themselves in a place they could never have dreamed of. However, not all is as it seems and the bond of friendship may not be as strong after all. I really enjoyed this film for the fact that it was not anything like the other two films and so doesnâe(TM)t affect their standing in the film industry. It is a completely new, fresh look on the franchise and it seems as if they have tried to break the rules by doing the opposite of what the other two Hostel films did. This is great as we donâe(TM)t feel like they have just made the same film again. The new elements such as the fact that the location is Las Vegas and the majority of the cast is American not European gives a more modern feel to the film. Also it ties the game element in to the plot as people are betting and gambling for what they expect will happen to the victims. There are lots of twists and character shifts; it is not the girls who lead the group to their demises in this film. The film feels a lot like a horror/thriller with a better storyline, it isnâe(TM)t just killing for the sake of it, thereâe(TM)s a motive. This film is less reliant on the torture and more on the story which makes it more realistic for the audience, without ruining the concept of Hostel. The film has a great ending and ties the whole story together; there are no cliff hangers which annoy me in horror moviesâe
This movie sucked.
what the hell did I just watch it was awful and I can;t even believe that made it, the other 2 Hostels were better. The gore in the film was a joke what a waste of time don;t even watch unless you need to see some tits and ass
Hostel 3 doesn’t offer much of anything compared to previous installments. It’s choppy, and filled with build-ups that don’t deliver (Kill scenes in particular). There are a few creative twists that I will give them credit for, which is why overall I would recommend seeing the movie. Not to mention, I loved to see Detroit as a filming location. Saying that, Hostel 3 is a straight to the shelf, watered down version of the first two.
The Ultimate Movie Review! – http://tss5078.blogspot.com – @tss5078 – It took three films, but finally the new Hostel film initiated a marketable franchise. The first two films were about a bunch of travelers who got kidnapped and killed by millionaires, who were part of some human hunting club, but they didn’t go any further than that. Finally, in Hostel III, we see inside the elite hunting club and learn it’s purpose. Also unlike the first two films, this Hostel has a plot, that’s interesting and apathetic. Featured in Hostel III is Kip Pardue, a veteran b-movie actor, and newcomer Brian Hallisay. They were humorous, likeable, and perfect for this type of film. After two insane gorefests, Hostel finally grew up and learned to combine the shocking violence with a good story, and a likeable cast. This was the by far the best Hostel film so far and one of the best horror movies I’ve seen all year. If you like horror, don’t miss this one. Even if you didn’t like the first two films, give this one a shot!
