Commei gave it a 2 out of 5 stars. it’s just kindasorta ok. Jaime King & Donal Logue were the best things in the movie. Jaime most definitely deserves better than this IMO.
it’s very low budget (which is fine) and the overuse of CGI gore/blood is annoying but THE SCRIPT (if i can even call it a script) is embarrassingly bad as is Malcolm McDowell. McDowell is so f^ucking bad in this that it’s hard to believe
he’s actually been good in some movies.
one example (of many many many) of the horrible writing were the “villains” (naughty people who become victims). we have the UBER-bratty 14 year old girl (who deliberately knocks heart meds out of her mom’s hands just so she can go the mall), the pervert priest (who hits on every girl he can as well as stealing money from the collections at the church), the 3 sleazy soft core porn makers, etc etc. so heavy handed and ridiculous.
but i still thought it was somewhat (if only barely) watchable.
This movie is so damn awful, and I knew it would be before I pressed play, but part of me hoped it would surprise me and be so bad it’s good (like the Black Christmas remake, but even that had more going for it than this did), but my hopes were trashed. I’m not even kidding, this remake is more of a Christmas version of the original My Bloody Valentine, even down to the twist. The only positives about it were Jamie King, the lighting, and some cool kills. Otherwise that is it. Don’t waste your time.
I enjoyed it. Its a fun slasher movie with a wonderful mix of modern horror and 80′s horror. Its also filled with hilarious dark comedy, and some great death scenes.
I murderous Santa should be more fun than this! About a half hour in I sent a text to a friend stating “this is going to be B movie gold!” unfortunately it never reached that level. The WAS some good humor (intentional or not) but the death scenes were far too random and had no effect. I didn’t care about any of the characters in peril. One day maybe something will match the fun of the Black Christmas remake!! Don’t judge.
I’m not gonna fuck around. This is the best xmas slasher movie ever. All that weak ass outdated shit served its purpose, but this is 2012 and this is where its at.The kills were great and the film kept my interest.I dont know what these other dildos on here were expecting, but I got what I was looking for outta this.4/5 skulls
Good times! The kills are numerous and fun. The script and plot have frequent issues, but slashers should get a hall pass when it comes to these things… right? At least in my opinion. I would have liked more gore, hopefully in an unrated version. I would delight in actually seeing the impalement of that bratty kid. But the head splitting scene made up for it. There are also some pretty funny caricatures in here… the slezoid priest, coke snorting soft core porn actors, and the negative santa.
CommentI liked the overall production values of this film, but that was one seriously inept script, apparently with intentional bad dialogue and mediocre acting(?!?). Jamie King was great as always, but Malcolm McDowell seemed to be in a different movie altogether. The director was more interested in getting good shots (which he did) but didn’t pay attention to anything else. If it was supposed to be a dumb 80′s film, it wasn’t as fun as it could have been. If it was supposed to be a real horror movie, there was zero suspense. For less sophisticated films it’s best to set a specific tone (serious terror vs. silly hijinks) and maintain it. Then there’s that ending. What exactly happened? Perhaps I’m over thinking it, but if Santa was punishing the “naughty”, why did the less obvious victims get killed? And how did he know who to mark? Those flashbacks didn’t reveal much of anything.
Just finished watching this. Um…it sucked. That pretty much explains it for me. Being that it was “loosely” based on on “Silent Night, Deadly Night”, I thought that it would be fairly decent, but was wrong. Just a bad movie all the way around. Not even bad enough to be good, just plain bad. Is Steven Miller the same one who did “Automaton” (Hope I spelled that right)? Because after that film I heard a lot of buzz how this dude was going to make it big. Personally I don’t see it.
