Starts out really good, the part in the farm house creeped me out. After that……it got boring, and i hate the whole bloody ‘people are far worse the monsters’ cliche..i hate it so much. I can’t really explain it but I just didn’t care about this movie. If you liked the remake of dawn of the dead, you’ll be let down by this. I didn’t care for ‘Diary of the dead’ (and i love Romero) but i did prefer that film to this.

Wasn’t that impressed. When you watch this and a film like REC…well it has no chance really. dull and lifeless (yes..its a pun)

ohh the zombie diaries,i bought this thinking..it would be awesome but as i watched it..i started to realize that it wasn’t that bad..but i must warn you there is very little gore,a lot of head shots, some zombie tits, not a bad movie overall.

Basically, this movie is “Diary of the Dead.” However, it is a little more realistic. At points it is confusing, but is more logical in the sense that it leaves a lot out. Let’s face it, the biggest problem with these Blair Witch style films is that people are ALWAYS recording, no matter what. This leaves you having to piece a lot more together, which at times is frustrating. However, it is very Romero-esque in the sense that their biggest enemies turn out to be each other. It’s worth a watch.

ok this movie had some good scenes but not really a good movie over all
yes this movie does start off slow and dosent really speed up but it has a little nice pace of creepyness like when the guy walks throw that little grave yard with the stick crosses and when that girl is shooting aimlessly and they found out what she was shooting at(best scene in the movie!)
then it starts pissing me off by making the poeple more scaryer then the zombies witch makes me not like this movie =(
but yeah it only has too good parts worth seeing but the rest is not worth shit

definetly liked this movie. it was one of the most realistic zombie movies, which was great and gets alot of points for. it was pretty creepy, which was also cool.
the only thing i have to say bad, about the movie is the ending. i was disappointed, but i stopped to think of the whole movie and i was happy.

overall: if you like zombies, you will be paying attention, it was very realistic, and i am very proud for this movie to enter my collection.

Painfully perfect. The simplicity of this film is what is behind its brilliance. Some spots of suspense that lead to not so suprising endings. However, the reality of this tale is what really makes it scary. Not your typical zombie flick with blood and gore at every corner. This is a flick that will have you sitting uneasy till the very end. And the end in itself is enough to make you quiver.

two words, false advertising. look at the cover. anything you assume you’re going to see based on the cover art, isn’t going to happen. first, there’s a badass guy with body armor wielding a shottie and handgun. you never see this guy in the movie. not as a main character, not as a secondary character, not even as some random guy in the background getting eaten by zombies. second, i got the impression from the cover art that i was going to see a destroyed city overflowing with walking corpses for a large part of the movie. well, i was wrong. well, not wrong, misled by the cover art. but you never see an awesome destroyed landscape, let alone hundreds of undead. the movie takes place largely in some european countryside. which is beautiful, but it in no way conveys an atmosphere of desolation and chaos that i expect in a zombie movie. and it in no way is epic. that’s what i assumed i was gettting from the cover art, an epic zombie movie, like 28 days later, or the intro to the dawn of the dead remake. and the most zombies you see at any point is five, if that. really? if you’re going to use the traditional walking dead, at least have them in hordes so it’s frightening. a horde of walking corpses is scary, 1-5 just makes me think of what i would do to them shaun of the dead style. and the back of the box has a review by ‘beyondhollywood.com.,’ which says ‘better than danny boyle’s 28 days later.’ it isn’t, in no way is it better. comparing zombie diaries to 28 days later is like comparing george bush jr.’s speaking ability to barack obama’s, there is no comparison. 28 days later is not only a terrific zombie movie, it’s a terrific movie period. diaries is just a zombie movie, and doesn’t expand or add anything to the zombie genre. i wouldn’t care that it doesn’t add anything to the genre, but i just didn’t find it to be a good zombie movie. i mean the dawn of the dead remake didn’t add anything to the zombie genre, but it was a good movie nonetheless. diaries doesn’t even have that going for it.

I have to admit I couldn’t get past the third segment of this movie. I have to agree with AbsorbantJellyfish that the cover of this movie in no way reflects what is delivered. As a graphic designer I have to say that the cover was what got me to snatch this off of the shelf. The designer must have not watched the movie or they lied to him/her.

I would have to think that anyone who gave this movie a rave review on the case was paid. To compare this movie to 28 days is laughable. The dialogue is horrible. Most times what the actors say directly contradicts what they do. Such as in the second segment. In the beginning we hear comments regarding ammunition and preserving it, yet we see the guy with the gun shoot the slowest moving zombies that are 500ft away!
The acting sucks. Most of the lines sound as if the actor just read them.
The special FX suck. If the world was coming to an end, you would see it. When people flee in mass chaos, shit happens. Wrecked cars, blood on the streets. Dawn of the Dead (2004) did this beautifully. I know not everyone has that budget, but come on! Throwing some old newspapers to blow in the street…that’s weak.
The Walking Dead (comic), World War Z, Dawn of the Dead (2004)…too much good stuff has raised the bar to a level that this hot turd can’t reach.
Do yourself a favor and rent 28 days and remember what a good zombie flick is. Damn you graphic designers…

Despite the fact that it is just a little bit more realistic than Diary of the Dead, it is not as good. Don’t get me wrong, the movie is entertaining, but it has a lot of problems with it. First off, I did not really like the idea of featuring more than one survival group, showing that the scriptwriter probably could think of anything else to happen for the first survivor group that they show, which is the only interesting survivor group they show. Another thing, they don’t explain why the groups, other than the first one, have video parents. It’s like they tried to make it a coincidence. Finally, the ending. Wow. Was that the real terror lurking in the shadows? Two guys killing people for sadistic pleasure, not even for survival? The movie is highly entertaining, and the ending completely destroys the movie. Despite all these downsides, the movie is enjoyable, gory, and realistic. But, I will say to those of you who want to see it, be very cautious. Do not hold this movie with high anticipation. I don’t mean to ruin your anticipation, but, to me, it was only a little bit above average.

This movie was a pile of crap. I picked it up thinking that I’d see this wasteland, zombie epic movie. What I got was a sub-par zombie movie that quickly turned into a movie about 2 sadistic guys who wanted to kill people. You know, the survivors. WHAT THE FUCK?

    Horrible, horrible movie.

I’m pretty sure I didn’t miss anything here. The cover is misleading, the plot changes for some odd reason and it just horribly sucks.

Damnit people, what’s it take to get a GOOD zombie flick nowadays?

i realy liked this little zombie flick, i know about the new trend in the “home video movies” but i dont realy care, if its good its good and to me this movie was pretty frickin good, not only is it pretty much exactly what would happen durring a zombie invasion (ie people not giving two shits about others wellfare and taking the lives of people in there group) it was kinda hard to follow at times but the finale is pretty different and thats what we need… different.

I wasn’t paying complete attention when I watched this, and afterwards thought two things: watch it again and pay closer attention, and it didn’t catch my attention in the first place.

I had trouble following the story and all of the characters, the camerawork gave me a headache (Cloverfield didn’t bother me), and I actually found the whole thing boring until the end twist was revealed.

The hype has me wanting to watch again to see if I missed something, but I kinda doubt I did. I wanted to hold off on rating it, so for now I’m still neutral. Didn’t hate it, but wasn’t impressed with just one viewing either.

This film was interesting, but not great and not that good, but not that bad either. The seperate stories coming together as survivors meet up was pretty good. The psychotic character was interesting, torturing zombies, and even making a zombie sex slave! But the ending in general kind of sucked and the film overall was kind of forgetable.

Whoever did the cover art for this film was overcompensating for the not so wonderful contents. Yes, it had its moments, reminescent of Night of the Living Dead, where strangers stumble upon an “empty” farmhouse, just to make the discovery that it’s not so empty after all. The first 30 minutes of this film was watchable, almost interesting. Then came the 3 separate diaries, trying to intertwine things, and hey! let’s throw in two psychopaths just to spice things up, and soon this film was turning into a crime/horror/drama attempt that fails miserably. I will not even comment on the ending, because it’s a painful memory (that isn’t a good thing). Better luck next time, eh?

At first glance, judging the cover ( which is a no no) the film looks to be another action packed running zombies in the apocalyptic city film that we are so used to. Not this one. Although the cover is very misleading, what you will find inside is what Romero’s diary of the dead should have been. Yes. I said it. I idolize Romero and love all his films. But in comparison this film is very very eerie. Yes it is low budget and filmed the same way Blair Witch project was, but i think it adds to the intensity of the film. From the beginning of the film there is this lingering feeling of impending doom. The atmostphere works great with the story, which focuses on 3 sets of people trying to survive after zombies are ressurected. There are some truly emotional moments, and some sick moments at that. With a nice twist thrown in for good measure. this film is not happy. But it will have you thinking as the credits roll. I put this film under 28 days later. rent/buy this film.

Alright, I can’t even imagine where to begin…o.k. I found somewhere. I was shopping with my cousin when we stumbled upon this film, I tricked my Nanny into buying it for us. You know why? Because that cover is Amazing! Now lets get to the sad, sad attempt for a zombie film. Crap, Crap, Crap this movie was so bad I couldn’t even finish it the night we bought it, I fell asleep. The next morning I finished the movie with one gun two bullets, ready to put my cousin and myself out of our misery but I changed my mind and decided to write a review about the film instead. Editing was bad, props were bad, transitions were bad, time laps were bad. If you ever see this film in a store, I don’t care if they are handing it out for FREE! do not and I repeat do not take it!

Though I didn’t abhore this movie quite so vehemently as my other reviewers, it certainly is not wasting an hour and a half watching.

The plot was messy and confusing, very amature in its cinematography, and the script was laughable.

My mother bought me Zombie Diaries as a christmas present [mom's, god help them, they at least do try], and tried to watch it with me. She left halfway through and apologized.

This is just not a movie to watch.

I appreciate the effort given by Bartlett and Gates. I really do. However, George A Romero himself couldn’t save this one. The Zombie Diaries main problem is that it jumps around more then Saws 1-6 combined. And it does so in an uninteresting, empty way. The plot is weak, that is to assume you have pieced it together well enough to fathom what is going on. Lastly…If ever there was a more misleading DVD cover, i haven’t seen it.

Disjointed, poorly shot, univentive, and throw-away dialogue is how I would describe this boring mess of a zombie yarn (YAWN!). One shot of a disemboweled woman is all I remember (or care to remember) from the entire movie. At least it only had an 81 min. running time, so the pain was short-lived. If you have an immediate need for a zombie fix, replay something you already have before shelling out wasted $$ and time on this.

Interesting but quite tedious shaky-cam zombie flick. There’s some brilliant atmosphere and a bunch of good old Romero-like zombies (you know, the slow ones), but unfortunately there’s nearly no suspense or tension, most of the actors are pretty lame and there could have been way more pace and action. The plot is pretty lame and the script is a mess.
A good idea, badly executed. Watch “[REC]” or “Diary Of The Dead” instead.

This average Zombie film offers nothing new. There is a bit of gore to look forward to, but overall this flic is low on thrills. Very slow until the last 15 minutes, when the story begins to make sense, but by then it’s too late.

If I could give this movie 0 stars I would. This film is an atrocity and an eye sore. Worse that Diary of the Dead. There is little to no gore, the acting and story for the most part is very weak. I found myself drifting in an out of sleep after the first 15 minutes. It’s a very slow movie lacking in all departments. I’d write more in depth for this review but it was so bad that I don’t care enough to take the time. Plain and simple. Avoid this film.

Let’s be honest a the Cover Art for this movie is simply amazing.

Yesterday I was at Specs this movie had a 60% off so I only spent 3$ which is basically free.

The Zombie Diaries is a movie that you really expect more just because of it’s cover and I believe EVERYONE who has come across this DVD has thought of that. Now to the movie: It really isn’t THAT bad, of course it could be ten times better. The home made” video style reminds me that it is hard to make a film like this, which leads to my opinion that if this movie had a bigger budget it would as good as Cloverfield (it’s not a zombie movie but it has that home made style) because it had that much potential.

If you’re a zombie fan that likes to give a chance to movies like this then go for it, but if you’re a die hard Zombie fan who is very “picky” about them, just walk away.
