i had quite high expectations for this one. loved joshua, so that might explain the expectations. first of all, that poster above is one of the coolest ever (want one on my wall), and the plot sounded really interesting. a movie about love, without the little things that make you vomit in your mouth a little bit. you know what i mean. okay, onward to subject. Lo was/is a great flick! plot was/is original. dialogue was good and entertaining, betz has a great and twisted sense of humour. sure it had some boring and cheesy moments. but not in a manner that it would bother that much. about acting, pretty good, pretty good.no academy winners maybe, but they did a good job. Birkett as the demon Lo was excellent. Lo became instantly one of my fav movie characters. Lo is a good example in that you don’t necessaryly need that much money to make a good movie, if you have the talent, you can do a fucking great movie. and Betz has that talent. i raise my hat to Betz and give him a humble bow.

yes,my english is shitty. grammar nazi’s can shove it..

Great zero-budget movie. My only complaint is the boring cinematography. I really enjoyed the cheesy sets made for the flashbacks. The crew appearing in the background was also pretty cool and occasionally funny. It would have been nicer to see some on-location flashbacks, but what they did was fine. If the trailer (or the awesome poster) caught your interest, it’s definitely worth a rental (Blockbuster will mail one to your house for $5. Just ask them).

there are only two things that i did not like about this movie; one was that i did not discover it or any other of travis betz movies a long time ago and two, there was two scenes…thats right just two..that i think dragged on a little bit longer then they needed to. but seriously that aside this was an amazing journey all the way. I had no idea what i was getting myself into when i first saw the poster for this movie (which i agree with the poster below, i want one…for real travis if your reading this, and i know you will, ill send you my right knee cap if you send me a poster) there are a lot of very intense moments in this movie that are honestly really hard to find in indie movies like this. not that there are really any indie movies like this one but if there where i can assure you they would suck compared to this one so side note for anyone wanting to make a movie like this…good luck..the bottom line is this movie will find a way to get down into the really dark twisted parts of your brain and stay there for a very very long time. I highly recommend this movie to anyone looking to break out of the box and step outside reality for a little bit with a “charming” demon named Lo.

I watched Lo last night on Netflix and I wasn’t sure what I was in for but once it began I was amazed by the Demons personality. I love this film, as soon as I can I am going to go out and buy it. Demons, Hell and Love makes a great film. It feels as if you are watching a live theater performance. I think the demons looked amazing. This movie was original and heart felt and that is saying a lot for a horror film these days.

Randomly saw this via Netflix. So glad that I did as I very much enjoy a good indie. Lo’s costume/makeup were well done and frankly, creeped me out. The movie is funny, creative and kept my interest in wanting to see how the story developed.

The dialogue is fantastic, which is seems very hard to find in flick. The script and the acting is what made this movie. I highly recommend it. Besides, singing and dancing demons… What more can a girl ask for? :P

It was really well done and like nothing I have ever seen before … but I just don’t really like plays.

I highly enjoyed this quirky little film. One of the more unique films in recent times and based on personal research, the most accurate depiction of demonology.

    I recommend it! :)

Bought this upon a recommendation from my Dad and I instantly loved it from the opening scene!
    It’s quirky, original, and different.

Most people probably won’t enjoy this as it’s titled “horror” and has very little blood and guts.

If you’re looking for something smart, entertaining, and highly original check this movie out.

I will admit, the way it was presented made me expect something far different. My issue isn’t because i expected some horror movie filled with demons, it stems from the fact the movie drags on and on with nothing that sufficiently entertains me for the length of the movie. The ending was predictable, and the story a bit cheesy. I can’t imagine how this can have such a high rating, when it’s just a typical forbidden love story filled with angst.

Now, had this been a short, I think it would have been more successful.

Not bad, it dragged a bit, but don’t expect scares.

I absolutely loved this movie. Yes, it seems like it drags out but… the comedy from the demons was just great. It kind of reminded me of the movie beetlejuice. But, if you’re looking for a different kind of movie this is a pretty good choice for different.

“Lo” might just be one of the best horror-comedies you’ve never heard of. It’s an indie effort from writer-and-director Travis Betz, who might just have a successful future ahead of him if what he demonstrated in “Lo” is equal to his overall talent and ambition. It amounts to plenty of fun, and plenty to admire. You can’t exactly watch “Lo” expecting the best film ever, but then again, when do you ever do that with a movie?

Say you do this from time-to-time. Please, for the love of god, don’t do it with “Lo”. Don’t expect anything amazing. You know what: don’t even expect a whole lot. Indie filmmakers can only do so much, and compared to most horror filmmakers, Travis Betz has contributed very little to this genre. So why, oh why, is “Lo” better than the average film for its genre? Perhaps it’s because while flawed, the film has wit, ambition, and good intentions galore. Perhaps more attention would garner the cult audience that the film rightfully deserves.

Well-made is a term that can’t truly apply to this film. The script kind of wings it half of the time. I don’t mind it, but sometimes it feels a bit pretentious. But at least the film is aware of it.

The story involves a young man as he searches for his lost love in the depths of hell; at the hands of a demon named “Lo” as well as several other entities of the like. His girl was taken from him by a demon, so the man can recall, and he consults the book that she gave to him (for Christmas, I presume). The film isn’t so much abundant with story-telling; but more-so story-telling, humor, and creativity.

So yes, the pacing is genuinely slow, even for the genre. However, if you can get past this, “Lo” is actually pretty worth-while. I’m not one of them “hipsters” that likes a film just for being indie. I like a film because it’s good; and that is why I like “Lo”. Some may argue that it is “bland” and “unfunny”, but that is strictly seeing it out of one eye. Seeing it from many different angles, I analyzed what Betz did on his low budget, what he accomplished, and how this successful film may influence his body of work to come.

The good aspects out-weight the bad. The costume design and make-up isn’t the best out there, but it’s much, much better than it needed to be. That I’ll grant a film such as “Lo”. Also, the direction is pretty solid, if you can acknowledge the sheer craftsmanship that went into the production. Dedication and love were both involved too; it’s just that some won’t care. There are some pretty funny jokes within the film, and then there are some. The jokes can be funny, somewhat funny, or not funny at all; they often range from either of the three.

The bad aspects of this film are few, but they should still be mentioned. The film is sometimes inconsistent, and the payoff is just plain disappointing, when you think about it. The film ends on a note that leaves us thinking, “That was it?” Yes, indeed, that was it. That’s the end of the road; the last dance. But with that being said, I thought the overall ride was satisfying, and as it turns out, I quite liked “Lo”. It’s not the best movie out there, it has its flaws, but there’s a whole lot of heart, humor, and random musical acts to be found here. I mean, who doesn’t want to see someone intent on beating up their verbally abusive hand-cut? No hands shall be raised, because somewhere deep down, we all admittedly want to see that. It’s kind of useless to deny it.
