The worst in the series, possibly one of the worst movies ever made. Not recommended!!!
Horrible. I saw this painful rim-job in theaters as a wee lad and I even hated it then. The story is ambitious, but ultimately ridiculous. The characters are terribly unlikeable. Freddy is over-the-top retarded (even more so than ‘Dream Child’). He goes as far as to put on a Power Glove and make a Nintendo joke. I wanted to vomit. The 3-D climax is laughable. I don’t even think it was in 3-D, I think they just made us put on the glasses, and that only made my eyes burn. Thanks, New Line. Can’t say I’m sorry to see your company fold with releases like this. I didn’t think it could get worse than ‘The Dream Child’, but it did… big time.
This one is not the worst in the series but it comes close. I did enjoy the thought put into the story in this one, and some of the ideas. Overall this movie is horrible and takes away from alot of the rules set up in previous nightmares. Watch this one, just know it is off the wall.
This is a comedy a stupid comedy. Even though I laughed in most of the film the story was stupid the killings sucked and were also dull. They should have made just a straight comedy. Without the scares without the stupid plot this film really sucked.
Oh dear, how the might have fallen. Not scary, boring , lame , stupid. Hello, Freddy playing Nintendo for fucks sake and don’t even get me started on the 3D!!! A good story let down by unlikeable characters, poor direction and dumb dumb Freddy ‘one liners’ even his makeup sucked in this one. What a terrible end to a franchise. Even Part 5 was better than this, just! Thank god Wes Craven came back to redeem the character in New Nightmare. This is just tragic and totally avoidable at all costs
I gave this movie the highest rating out of everybody who’s rated this so far. Yes the movie is terrible. Yes, the kills are a joke. And, yes, the Nintendo thing is the worst thing I’ve ever seen in a horror movie.
I think one thing is being overlooked, though. The scenes of Freddy’s pre-death history. Put the movie on and watch only that part. You will desire a prequel with all your heart. These scenes are worthy for any movie serial killer. I know it’s a small part to give the extra skull for, but it is a good part. If you want to know a bad back story, watch the TV show, Freddy’s Nightmares. There’s one there.
The best and the worst nightmare film the story adds up to be fantastic the only problem is Freddy gets killed at the end Freddys dead… yeah right
This movie made me cry.
I grew up loving the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” series. The first one is my favorite horror movie of the 80′s. None of the sequels were as good as the first, but none of them I disliked.
Freddy’s Dead however, changed that. I disliked this movie, and it made me cry. Freddy Krueger was one of the kings of horror. This movie made him a court-jester. It really brought nothing positive to the table and New Line should have been disgusted with themselves for making this movie….especially for promoting it as the final Freddy movie.
Was there any good? Robert England of course IS Freddy Krueger. Whenever I see him, no matter the script, I pay attention. Anybody who attempts to be Freddy in this upcoming remake has some large shoes to fill…
What was the Bad? The acting was fine as far as I was concerned. The main problem was the directing and the storyline. There was nothing really dark about the movie. So forget about anything scary. The end battle reminded me of some cheesy ECW steel cage match. Notice, they fought in a cage, they had weapons. I think something bigger would be in store for the closing chapter of one of horror’s biggest icons. Shame on you director and writer! The rest of the storyline…well, Freddy never would have raised a daughter, the previous rules established in previous movies were discarded, and Springwood was a total joke.
This movie broke my heart as an Elm Street fan. The creators should be ashamed of themselves for going this route. If you’re a FreddyFan, watch this movie. But instead of putting it was canon, just act like it was a bad dream!

The poster lied, they saved the worst for last. Although part 4 may be the worst. The original is vastly superior to any of the sequels.
When I was younger, this was one of my favorite movies, I’d watch it about 3 times a day, along with Waxwork. But now that I’m older, it’s easy to see that this movie is a complete mess. Rather then picking up where we left off with The Dream Child, everything is avoided for this disaster. After no build up, we’re shown Freddy again within the first couple minutes, flying on a broom like the wicked witch from Wizard of Oz, oohhhhhh scary…then we see him driving a tour bus “No screaming while the bus is in motion”. Yup, easy to tell, this is going to be a long ugly ride.
So this takes place 10 years in to the future, from 1991, so I guess it’s suppose to take place in 2001, and all the Springwood children have been killed…by Freddy of course. Not exactly how we remember things from the last entry. There is one remaining Elm Street child who is forced in to a halfway house/shelter by Freddy (lol). And this last survivor seems to have amnesia after hitting his head on a rock, so he can’t remember anything about his past or where he came from, all he knows is if he falls asleep, he ain’t waking up. Of course there are other kids at the shelter, and they become wrapped up in to things shortly after.
There is also a “twist” added for this one, as the story just isn’t strong enough without it. This twist being that Freddy has a daughter, and she works at the same shelter where this John Doe is now staying! To help him remember his past, Maggie Burroughs (Lisa Zane as Freddy’s Daughter) brings him back to Springwood, which is basically a ghost town now since all the children were murdered and families moved away. While on the way there, we find that 3 kids from the shelter were hiding in the back of the van, so it looks like they’re a part of the team now.
This movie really pushes the limits on the gimmicks as there are tons of cameos from Roseanne, Tom Arnold, Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper. The only one I didn’t mind seeing was Johnny Depp, as he was one of Freddy’s original victims, back when Freddy was a monster and not a comedian. Speaking of Freddy as a comedian, there’s really no other way to describe him in this. He lost everything that made him scary, and does nothing but bust jokes, unfunny ones at that. This is Freddy at Rock bottom.
There’s only one good death scene, and that being Carlos’ (Ricky Dean Logan) who happens to be deaf. Freddy gives him a custom hearing aid, that is ultra sensitive to noise, and Freddy makes as much ruckus as possible until Carlos’ head completely blows up. Then there’s the video game death of Spencer (Breckin Meyer), where he’s sucked in to the television and Freddy controls him through his power glove (oh jeez). I don’t know what I was on as a kid, but I use to consider that as one of my favorite deaths, now it’s almost unbearable to watch. And the sound effects when his body is bouncing around the house is just pathetic. One death, that I was surprised about, was the death of our John Doe. At least, the makers had some balls by doing this as he was one of the leads throughout the first half of the movie.
This movie also acts as bit of a prequel, showing some of Freddy’s home life before he was burned alive. We shown this as Freddy lets the viewers know “It’s Traveling time!” Thanks for the update Freddy! At least it’s good to see Robert Englund without the make-up for a bit, since the plastic he wears throughout is just horrible.
Oh, I almost forgot about the 3D gimmick. It’s just terrible, as we see Maggie wear the cardboard glasses and we’re shown ridiculous special effects like the dream sperm demons who gave the Freddy the power who control Nightmares. I never really liked this idea, as I feel it makes the series seem cheap. Should have brought in the Dream Police or whatever else they had planned because this simply didn’t work.
So Maggie must bring Freddy in to the real world to defeat him. Not a bad idea, but it worked much better in the original and FVJ. His death in this one just didn’t work for me, a few ninja stars (ya, ninja stars) and a bomb to the chest finishes him off, really running out of ideas now arn’t we. I did like the flashback of Freddy throughout the series once he is blown up, a nice touch. Kinda sad how one of the things I like about this movie is when they show flashbacks of the other movies though.
In conclusion, this is the low point in the series, and ended things weakly. Thank God, we were given New Nightmare, as this was the wrong way to go out and should have never been made. It’s a Freddy movie for kids…er…for when I was a kid, I doubt the kids of today would even appreciate this. This movie does take me back, but with that said, it should be left there. One good death, and a little extra back story make me give this one a…

The back story for Freddy was kind of cool. But didn’t feel right or appropriate. The final fight is pretty much the only real reason to see this movie.
Eh it’s ok. It’s more of a Looney Toons version of a Nightmare film. But the final death was awesome and bumped it up a star.
It turned Freddy into a joke and gave him a bad reputation which people still think of even after New Nightmare and Freddy vs Jason.
Sad.
Anyone that even remotely likes this film has the worst taste of movies. This film is insipid and beyond tedious. From the beginning, this is such a cheesy and ludicrous film that fails at its every attempt and its potential it had, was wasted. This shouldn’t be the film you should pay to see, it should be the film they pay you to see. My strong loathing of this film is indescribable, because that’s how bad this movie is. This film even makes Jason Friedberg and Uwe Boll like an Oscar contender for Best director. If you even bother seeing this film, then be prepared to have seen the worst movie of your life. Even giving it a one skull rating is being highly generous. If you have not seen this film, then do not say that you’ve seen a bad movie. This is by far the most unfunny, insipid, tedious, dull, and beyond putrid film I have ever seen.

This petty little ”end” of Freddy is barely saved by the naff humour.
That tagline is such a lie. They certainly didn’t save the best for last because this movie sucked and was definitely more of a comedy if anything. There was nothing remotely scary about this movie. The characters basically sucked except for the last survivors. If this movie was good for anything it was that it was the closet thing I think we were ever going to get to a prequel that explained Freddy’s backstory. Had this been more of a horror movie and not so goofy it probably could have been one of the best. The ending was so cheesy and I know the excuse was blamed on the whole 3d thing but it was still anti-climatic and like I said in my part 4 review thats why that should have been the final one becuase the way freddy went out was awesome. The 2 best thngs about this movie are the backstory of Freddy which was really good and the end credits with the montage of all the movies. Other than that there is nothing positive to say about this movie.

Was Freddy too much of a wisecracking comedian in the previous 3 films? After viewing this one, you might actually be thankful for the Freddy of those. Still, I have to give the Nightmare series credit- actually, nope, I don’t. I just have to give Robert Englund credit. He can turn crappy one-liners and campy acting into an art form. He really is the only thing that saved the worst sequels in this series. But still, one person cannot save a movie, especially not one as bad as this one.

Now, everyone hates this film, as do i. But today, i’ve reviewed the film with a different perspective. Watch it, like it is something like Return of The Living Dead or the original Dawn Of The Dead. Not serious, but a horror comedy. Of course, those are 2 of the best horror films ever, and this is not. Even though its intentions were infact to be both funny and scary, it only succeeds in one aspect. Guess which one
the WORST entry in the series. oh boy, where do I begin. the acting is total crap, even by nightmare standards. the plot is BORING and I mean BORING. my god I cannot believe the film makers even had the audacity to imply that “they saved the best for last”… HAHAHA, whatever. I hate everything about this film, it’s incredibly boring and goes nowhere, not a single thing about it is entertaining. for god sakes, they have freddy kill a kid by transferring him into a nintendo game or some shit, and bouncing him down a flight of stairs to his death. the lead guy, the one who thinks he’s freddy’s son, annoyed the fuck out of me, i couldn’t wait for him to get offed. the lead woman, freddy’s real kid, also annoyed the shit out of me and looked asleep throughout the whole film. seriously, this is one of the worst films in the series, i wish it was out of print so nobody could see how awful and a joke to the series it is.

I have a sentimental connection to this movie, when I was 4 I had the VHS and I probably watched this movie every single night I knew the whole script by heart!lol. I think it gets way too much shit, I mean the story is kinda out there, but who gives a shit all I want to see is Freddy crack jokes and then crack heads and he certainly delivered on that. Really not as bad as people make it to be.
Although the Glory Days were behind the franchise. I thought this movie still kicked ass. Not only is this movie filled with awesome cameos, but i found Krueger’s material to be some of his best. At this point theres nothing left to do but bring out some comedic value in the series. Character development was still good, and the nightmare sequences were still innovative. Fred Kruger brings your worst nightmares to life. Then laughs at you while he does it
`Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare’(A.K.A Nightmare on Elm 6: Freddy’s Dead) is a 1991/1992 sixth Movie of the film series & the fifth sequel out of the series & of course played by Freddy Kruger is Robert Englund which I think in this Movie he still shows the Horror Icon legend in this one & brings a great performance of Freddy Kruger (then from his last one wasn’t as good).
I think this part of the Movie series is dying out with the storyline/plot, but this one did get me more interested than the fifth one soo its a step up really, This one is more horror comedic humor (with Robert Englund performance as Freddy Kruger) & it has the right amount of gore, blood, guts & cool deaths & all rolled into quit good acting form the main & small cast an in the end Freddy dies which would be his 5th or 6th time now soo just got to watch the 7th one & see what that all about then.
(There were some well -known actors make cameo appearances in the film, including Johnny Depp (whose screen debut was in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street), Roseanne Barr, Tom Arnold, and Alice Cooper.)
i hated this movie. cant get passed the opening scene i mean freddy reminded me of a saturday morning cartoon. it reminded me of pee wee herman.
althought not scary but pretty good for a horror comedy, i wish they had worked more on the storys and the video game kills was not very thought out or well made
