Pretty good.
hated it.
trash
liked it
..normally I like to write a review that explains something but to keep up with the rest of the reviewers on here all I’m gonna say is
“at least it had Tiffany Shepis’s boobs”
ugh.
why the fuck did they have to make it a hitman???! it really had me tense for the first half of the film. i hate fucking shit endings like these.
This reminded me of the movies i use to watch at drive ins in the 70′s. It started out ok but the ending really screwed things up. Worth watching.
This film was awful!!! There was nothing original about it in any way and It just bothered me from start to finish. I even gave it a chance and played it the whole way.Nothing new here.I just want to know how these guys get the money they do to make a film like this.
I didnt think i was going to like this film for as how it began the first 30 minutes into the film, but boy it transforms into something that i really didnt see coming, which was a delight and great surprise as it turned from one horror film sort of into another, interesting story, turns into a horror film most horror fans should find very cool.
Eh easily the worst of the 8 films to die for in 2007. The only thing good about it was the ending. Not a very good story or acting or really anything. Two thumbs…down.
I actually liked this.. Decent movie
A bad movie. the movie had fake blood. It had terrible acting. The second worst horror movie i’ve ever seen. The mask in the movie was stupid and the killer was stupid. Don’t see it.
Sigh… it… sigh… I mean it… sigh… Boobs. You can see boobs in so many other places in much more fulfilling ways. Sad then that the only thing I saw good in this flick… were boobs. DAMN.
This starts as just a run of the mill low budget slasher but ends up with some surprising plot twists which turn the film in to a supernatural thriller. Dont get me wrong, there can be no question that this is a B movie. But its one hell of a fun B movie. Its all here Nudity, gore, dark humour and reasonable FX. It also manages to build up quite abit of tension in certain scenes. But being a good film was just a bonus. I would have never of watched this film if it hadnt started Tiffany Shepis. I endeavour to see as many of her films as I can. This didnt disappoint me, as it was worth watching it just for the looking back through her legs scene.
Classic Shepis!
A Very Fun And Somewhat Chiller Movie
I could barely sit through this movie, it was really bad, and the part where that girl is doing those fake orgasms while the nightmare man is outside doin his thing, I couldnt tell if they were trying to be scary-sexy or fuckin retarted and funny, because that was so stupid. this movie sucked the only good part was when that slutty little bitch pulled up her skirt to that guy, she had a really nice ass. thats it boooooo!!!
Wasnt bad but wasnt good either. It was your typical low-budget slasher film with really shitty acting. Decent gore effects though.
The last ten minutes-ish are the best part (minus the unnecessary “there’s going to be a sequel” ending); topless chick with a crossbow, bee-otch!
Aside from that, this movie was a chore to get through. Annoying ass characters, a dumb predictable plot and just plain cheap in all forms of the word. The main character makes you want to cap her in the face.
As much of an atrocity this film was, there were some hard-core scary parts that were not makeup effects or creature feature effects, but serious jump out scary. However, this movie was very painful to watch in the sense that it would have never made it on it’s own had it not been attached to Horror Fest. I guarantee that nobody would dish out more than $3.00 to see it and just the overall acting; lighting and intensity of story would drive people to $1.00 bin. This movie is essentially about a woman, who appears to be mentally ill, who is haunted by a mask-wearing killer called the Nightmare Man. But when the Nightmare Man is released from her mind and starts attacking her, can she stop it? Is the Nightmare Man really real? Can a group of ridiculously hot young teens save her? Will there be any end to this horrible nightmare of a movie? That answer is yes.
The acting…. was pretty bad. Tiffany Shepis, who plays the supposable schizophrenic, does a horrible job at playing her role. There were more than twenty different times were she overreacted to some of the most stupidest things. There were more than a few times were she was heavily breathing so much that it was distracting. Some of the stuff she does to avoid the knife-wielding maniac is so stupid. Blythe Metz, Hanna Putnam, Jack Sway and James Ferris play the young teens that happen to take this mental woman in and one by one they get killed. All of these kids did a somewhat feasible job acting our there roles but they seemed way to over the top and there performances were not natural. Nobody acts like that in that situation. Maybe that was the intention to give this movie that kind of feel, but as far as I’m concerned it did not work. I thought the acting was very poor. Luciano Szafir, who plays husband to the schizoid, has such a poor acting personality. You could tell that he was putting 00001% into what he was trying to portray as a foreign and caring husband.
For a low budget movie, the manipulation of the sets was very well done. This is perhaps one the better aspects of the movie. It brought back that horrible feeling of loneliness and entrapment by having half of the movie take place in a car. This was perhaps one of the best things they did, and the scares that accompanied the car scene were very well done. The lighting and the feel of that scene was somewhat there, not so much the feels as the lighting. It had a very cold and dead feel to it, which I think really captures the moment. The forest scenes were probably the worse scenes in the movie next to the cabin ones, however it still had the cold, eerie and dead feel to it. The cabin set was very carefully and masterfully utilized to make up for the very low budget on this movie. Some of the lighting, and placement of the cameras are very reminiscent of those old 80′s slasher and comic book looks to it. It reminded me of Creepshow. With a very low money pile, this movie succeeds in set, camera work and lighting.
I will admit, the scares make up, in part, for the bad acting and the very stale plot. There are points were the jump-out effect comes at some of the most random times, and that’s why it’s scary, because it’s random and you don’t expect it. Accompanied with a high orchestra/music component, the scares are very abundant in this movie. There is, unfortunately, a scene near the end and the final confrontation, where they use heavy makeup to make a devilish looking face. This was not scary. In fact, it was more humorous than scary and it was completely random in a bad way. There was no point and I think that if they changed just the eyes, it would have done a lot better. It was just very inappropriate.
All together, this movie had a slightly below average rating to it. For a B-movie, the technical aspects (ie: camera, lighting, set and editing) were very well done and deserve a pat on the back. The acting, makeup and overall plot were very weak, and some of the scares were very cheap. On the contrary, there were a lot of good scares to. I would recommend this movie to those horror fans that have a developed a good taste in b-horror-movies and enjoy movies of that caliber. To those fans who have developed a bit of a sophisticated pallet of horror, I would not recommend this movie for you.
This falls under it’s so bad it’s funny category. What were they thinking when they released this to after dark horrorfest, it doesn’t deserve it at all going to theaters. It has very bad acting, no scares, cheap gore effects, it was just pointless and mindless junk that should of went straight to dvd. They need to start releasing horror movies that deserve to be at the after dark horrorfest not this crap, it’s like they don’t even try. Not recommended!
I typically have differences with Tex Massacre on his reviews (except for the Friday the 13th remake), and this is no exception. Nightmare man was just an atrocity.
There is at least one cliche per 5 minutes. the acting was extremely poor. The script was upsettingly bad. Truth be told, Tiffany Shepis in underwear/topless is the only redeeming quality about this film.
Borderlands was truly only the good installment in this series of Horrorfest. I’m really disappointed in Nightmare Man and Horrorfest in general.
The movie was real obvious and I mean what I am about to say…
Nightmare Man is easily on the list of my 10 Worst Horror Movies ever created.
I’m gonna get through all of these “Films to Die For” eventually. This is a good example of why it’s taking me so long. When the only thought on my mind is “I hope we get to see more of the crazy chicks boobs,” then it’s not a good movie. One half skull for the half second we see her boobs and one skull for Tiffany Shepis being in it. She’s an automatic one skull for any movie. Those are the only good things about Nightmare Man.
I could’ve made a better horror movie in my basement with my dog and twelve year old sister. low quailty, weak plot, and overall poor performance. the cast was poorly choosen. its not the worst movie ive ever seen but its up there.
According to many user reviews on BD & Imdb I’m in the minority of people who like this movie – which I don’t fully understand. Of course it has its flaws: the camera work is lame, the lighting is rather poor and it often looks pretty cheap, yet it’s easy to overlook these flaws because the whole movie is so effing entertaining.
“Nightmare Man” is a great supernatural indie-slasher that feels a bit like an 80s b-movie (including many scenes that are a bit reminiscent to “Evil Dead” and the “Friday The 13th” films). It’s tense and suspenseful, full of neat atmosphere and nice jump-scares. The cast is nothing special but at least decent. The make-up/special effects are great and the killer looks pretty cool (especially his mask). Highlight of the movie is the script which is brilliantly paced and full of surprising twists, jumps and shocks.
I admit: I totally enjoyed this flick! It’s no masterpiece but it’s definitely a gorgeous little horror gem.
This was garbage.
Nightmare Man is a movie that made me very happy that I kept watching after the first five or ten minutes. Had I stopped, I likely would have missed the fairly entertaining movie that followed.
Nightmare Man is about a troubled woman who continues to see what she calls the Nightmare Man attacking her in her dreams. This effects her so much, that we begin the film with her husband driving her to a mental institution to be committed. After their car runs out of fuel in the middle of the woods, far away from civilization, she finds herself alone in her car waiting for her husband to come back. She wouldn’t be alone for long…..
Much like the movie the Cottage, Nightmare Man is actually more than one movie. It starts as a horror film, evolves into a less supernatural slasher film, before settling back into a supernatural horror film with just a taste of that physical dark humor that made Evil Dead such a joy to watch.
Despite some fairly obvious budget issues, Nightmare Man gets the job done, largely due to the fairly impressive performance of Tiffany Shepis who steals nearly every scene she is a part of and just really helps keep the film moving along. In fact, the lead character, played by Blythe Metz, delivered such a horrible performance in the first ten minutes, that I was completely ready to stop watching.
The film does suffer at times from some odd pacing, but it clocks in at a steady 90 minutes and those 90 minutes are fairly well-spent. I would recommend giving this at least a rental and making sure to watch past the first 1/3 of the movie to get to the good parts.
Kind of shitty but a little entertaining, i guess.
A perfect blend of horror themes to keep you up at night. A Shepis jamboree!
