Episode 1.1 Sacrifice. The first episode, which is directed by Mick Garris is nothing special. Four guys are end up in this village with these beautiful women who have never been outside of this village and seem to be bait for some creature. What could it be? We’ve all seen this many times before. The story was predictable and the music was overbearing. It was a decent watch but not one I would buy on DVD or watch again when it’s ‘unrated’.
    5/10 or 2 1/2 skulls

Sacrifice. While it was nothing to get excited about. It was better than i thought it would be for nbc. The story had a few wholes that could have been fixed with a little tlc. being nbc tv show I expected 0 gore. There was a little gore which was a shock for me. Over all I could tell from the first ep that fear itself wants to be masters of horror and just fell short. Sacrifice was good enough for me to make me want to watch next weeks show and hope for more from it.

The first episode while not wonderful was enough to get me to tune next week. What else could we expect from a cable show. Just because this genre is missing from regular television I do hope it gets an audience and sticks around. I’m not hopeful though, most other attempts have failed. Kingdom Hospital, 2002-2003 Twilight Zone and even the more drama based Point Pleasant have all vanished. One major problem for me, what’s with the opening credits music! Talk about not matching the visual, sounded about as far from horror as you could get. Did not set the mood well at all.

Episode 1: The Sacrifice was pretty decent, considering it is on NBC.
Four guys wander into an old fort with 3 girls there and they are hiding a dark secret.
There is a some gore (didn’t expect much considering it is regular TV) and an ok story. (Its tough for them to expand on the story since it is only like 45 mins. long)
It has an interesting creature as well.

Really not that bad. For only 45 minutes, they did quite a good job. I would have liked more characterization, but again, only 45 minutes to work with. Other than that, it is kind of refreshing that this horror story doesn’t rely on gore and language. It was a well fashioned monster-story. I hope they keep it going, because I could definitely stick around for this series.

I really didn’t like any of the episodes, but a few were decent. However, actual ‘decent’ episodes are few and far between, and the show is quite awful. Even the opening credits theme was irritating.

i thought this show was awsome! with only 45 minutes to work with they made a good plotline. the sacrifice was the worst episode out of th em all. you have to whatch more than the pilot to get a feel for the show.

I just picked this up on DVD and I am stunned. Last year I saw possibly 3 episodes when it was on the air.. Then to my dismay it was cancelled (for no obvious reason, ratings were average if not better).

It’s a masterpiece, while not always being scary it does in fact always make you wonder what’s coming next, so the suspense is very well maintained in this series.

If you could only see two episodes I would strongly recommend “Eater” or “Something with Bite”. They SPFX in “Bite” are really something else.

Not a bad show and here is why… its a bunch of short films based on horror. this is rare for tv so I am rating it higher than it should b because we need more of this type of thing….

Heck bring back new tales from the cyrpt…

Fear Itself is a great horror anthology show with lost of episodes but different story. This show is really similar to Masters of Horror mainly because the show was created by the same creator of Masters of Horror and that’s Mick Garris I remember watching each episode in a channel when it was airing on TV I did like some of the episodes the rest were really dark and scary as well while the first episodes were thrilling other episodes were getting darker and darker but some failed while other episodes almost failed so far.

liked the show, it is basicly Master of Horror season 3 but since not on showtime the gore was cut way down “some extra gore scenes are on the dvds though”
the worst 2 episodes are “something with bite” and “new years day”

the best 2 are “eater” and “skin and bones”

you can get the whole set on amazon for like $12, very worth it to check out.
