When I read Breaking Dawn for the first time I loved it. It was shocking and chaotic and I couldn’t believe the author could take it in such a bizarrely perverse direction. But in no way did I think any of the novel’s real gruesomeness would make it to the screen in the squeaky clean series. Well i’m happy to say that I was so off my game and happily so. Breaking Dawn pt. one is everything you have been hoping for in these adaptations. The characters are fully drawn finally with solid performances to match. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are at their best and Taylor Lautner is finally really good. The film is directed wonderfully by oscar winner Bill Condon of Dreamgirls and Of Gods and Monsters. The film is always engaging, interesting, funny, clever and even a little terrifying. How this film escaped without an R rating I just don’t know the sex scenes are pretty impressive but is nothing compared to the grotesque birthing sequence only briefly outlined in the book but much more effective here. The film is powered by potent melodrama as usual but it’s much more effective this time around creating an atmosphere of utter suspense. Now there will no doubt be haters as usual, and maybe even more so because this is such a bizzarely perverse and darkly wonderful film. But it is without a doubt the best of the series and one of the best films I’ve ever seen. I’d also like to say that Kristen Stewart be commended for her utter dedication to the role. She looks sickly and completely immerses herself in it. It’s quite striking with a film too match. Brilliant!
This is definitely the best film in the series so far. The acting was much better and it didn’t get too bogged down in silliness as some of the others have. Not to mention that the birthing scene was pretty awesome. Much gorier than I had anticipated. I hated the score at times though. It seemed not to fit what was happening on screen. Overall loved the movie though.
A Twilight movie worth watching? Hmmmm.
Let me start by saying that I DO NOT like the twilight films. The first was mildly entertaining, I could not stay awake through New Moon, and was not a fan of eclipse (I was dragged into seeing this one with my niece). Oddly enough I do believe it was the lack of the poorly done annoying action sequences that killed the first three films, that made this one work. For once the time was taken to actually start to like the characters (I know, I know, believe me it sounds just as f**ked up to me as I write this).
I did not particularly enjoy this movie, it really just isn’t my thing, but I have to give credit where it’s due, it was very well done, and beautifully shot. Some of it was actually entertaining, I kind of got into it, as much as I would hate to admit; that is until the terrible CGI wolves talking to each other telepathically took me completely out.
In the end I give props to Bill Condon for making a good twilight film.
I cannot help but love Kristen Stewart, there is just something about her that drives me insane, I just don’t get why so many people rail so hard on these Twilight movies, I know they’re not great by any means and they’re cheesy but I like cheese and really I could care less whether anybody else likes them or not, it’s what I like that matters to me and Breaking Dawn does is pretty good and I want the whole world to know that I will also fight for Bella until her birthing canal stops bleeding.
I can believe how incredibly lame this saga has become. The story, the same as in the last book, is silly and downright painful to watch unravel in its transition to the screen. The trio of characters is boring and only Taylor Lautner survives this ‘romantic’ ordeal.
With a bloated budget that reaches $110 millions and zero difference in quality from the last two movies, one wonders where did all that money go?
And now we can rest for at least another year when the saga ends for good. A week later, the world ends. YAY!
I liked the first Twilight, didn’t like the next two but sat through them out of some kind of morbid curiousity.. I have to admit, this was the best BY FAR. It was funny when it was meant to be funny, not as cheesy as the others, everyones acting had improved by a mile and it actually got pretty gruesome towards the end. I was wondering how they were going to get away with doing it and still maintain their rating and I was quite impressed with the way it was shot.
Looking forward to the next one, let’s home it doesn’t get two bogged down in lame poorly done action sequences and cheesy lines like part 2 and 3.
Kristen Stewart Hottest Vampire MoM Ever!
