A solid little b/w quasi-giallo that offers nothing special but at least manages to entertain.
At times, it’s way too slow and tedious; many scenes bored me to death. Some of the acting is really corny and the ending is quite underwhelming.
Gladly, it’s packed with that particular wonderful giallo atmosphere and loads of eerie and/or inventive death scenes, including death by acid, a horse-stomped head and one of the coolest suicides I’ve seen in a long time (man in wheelchair places a sword in front of him and rolls into it).
Furthermore, the castle settings look beautiful, the soundtrack is very chilling and the performances from Barbara Steele & Mirella Maravidi are just great.
Nice film!
Note: there are NO terror creatures in here! Whoever is responsible for this shit title, should be sent straight to hell.
