The Curse of the Crimson Altar isn’t quite as interesting as the high-camp, bizarre opening images would suggest. It starts off good with an interesting build-up but then it just takes too much time building up to an ending that’s way too under-developed and less impactful than you’d hope for. Nevertheless it does contain some laughs (mostly at its expense) and its awful direction and set design also add to its amusement. Don’t go expecting a classic, more of a throwback to the 60′s. Of course Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee are on fine form, I don’t know why the bloke from Coranation Street is the main character!?
