Original, Unpredictable, Kinda funny at parts (felt it had some very dark humor in it, not much though) good acting minus the opening scene with the 2 chicks.. this was a fantastic movie.. b-disgusting.. this deserves better then a 3/5.. at LEAST a 4/5.. excited for full sequence

Much like the Hostel films this movie aims to shock, terrify and repulse and much like a nightmare you beg for it to stop. This movie raises the bar when it comes to grotesque, stomach turning violence and is a crazy new turn in the horror genre yet it has similar elements from other films like Martyrs, Hostel, Pig, Vacancy ect. which doesn’t make it feel that original as it should have been and it just ended up being a rehash of them than surpassing them but I’m happy to say that it didn’t suck balls like Martyrs and the horrendous Pig which made you mad, annoyed and frustrated than anything. I thought that Dieter Laser plays an fantastic psychopath and chilled me to the bone and he is a villain that could give anybody nightmares, great work! The supporting cast was ok but over acted sometimes but I have to give it to them for making their horrible situation raw and not make it a laughing stock which it could have been. The ending was a little bit of a let down and was anti climatic and I really didn’t think it went to the lengths which it could of gone but it definitely backs up its title The Human Centipede because while you like it or not you will see one in this movie, bring a bucket just in case! I really don’t know how they’re going to do a sequel to this it just doesn’t make sense right now other than following it from the ending but where will it go from there unless it’s a prequel which I can picture that happening than a straight up sequel, I’m interested to see what they’re going to do with it. Overall I didn’t love it or despise it I just thought it was a very descent, well made shocker that’s bolder than most hollywood theatrical released horror movies these days and I give kudos to the cast and crew for that and it had me glued to my seat in horror on what was going on and that’s what a horror movie should do and I recommend it. Not for the squeamish!!

This film when people were talking about it. They were making it out to be nothing more then a torture core film. Which in aspects I guess it is. But in some its not, it’s more a film base upon human qualitys and how a man gave up on humans. WHy we don’t know. But anyways. This is more as like people say it’s a dark comedy poking fun at all those torture core films. You got the mad fuck up, the dumb bitchs, the out of place asian, the insane amount of cliches, the dumb cops. And a straight up cliche ending. WHat makes the movie amazing is that it’s done in a fashion that hasn’t been done before.

Mr. Six could of easily turned this into a gross out vomit fest. But instead turned it into a little charm of a movie that in 6 years time will be in ranks with texas chainsaw, and other horror classics. Yes this movie will most likely disturb most people and turn most people stomachs. But if your like me and seen fucked up movies like Inside, martyrs, irreversible. Or anything else along those lines, this movie will be like a stroll in the park for you. Yes you’ll still go WTF. And want to laugh. I laugh a few times. Does that make me a sick man??? LOL prob. Oh well.

but just don’t go in thinking for a blood bath. SIx plays his cards right. And in the end you get a really thought out movie. Well done. Can’t wait for number two even though IDK how they’ll pull it.

Wow, by far one of the most disturbing films I’ve ever watched. Like seriously what the hell? Some sick and twisted stuff. The adrenaline was a rush for me because I had no idea wth was going to happen next. I even had a mini panic attack before watching this just because I was that disturbed by the trailer. wow.. gg

This is what I expected it to be. This is a rather disturbing movie but not head fuck disturbing, more bizarre disturbing. The sight of seeing three people fused together ass to mouth is just so weird. There is nothing here that is shock for shocks sake and that’s a good thing. The concept alone is enough to shock, that someone would want to do this to another human. there is nothing here that is overly gratuitous, although when the head of the chain announces that he needs to shit one can only imagine how awful that must be for the next person and that alone is rather stomach churning.
it does start rather cliched but then becomes it’s own film and is very original and unique. The doctor is suitably crazed and a rather creepy figure and he is played well. Thumbs up to the people who make up the centipede because they are certainly put through the wringer. This is a slow moving film but very intruiging and things do become more bloody and intense as it reaches its climax. Not a masterpiece and not a bad movie but somewhere in between. It’s refreshing to watch something entirely original and entertaining.

Not as disgusting as it’s hyped to be, but still pretty damned disgusting. It’s more the idea that is disgusting than what is actually portrayed on the screen, in my opinion. Still, a pretty decent (“disgusting”) movie, and I thought Dieter Laser was damned good as the doc. Was a 7, the Laser cranks it up to 8.

Ive seen Troma movies with better acting. In fact this movie almost came off as a comedy because of how terrible the actors were. I don’t see why everyone likes this garbage ass movie. The idea the movie presents is interesting and gross but when you actually see it, its a big let down. This movie was so incredibly boring that I felt like I was trapped in a bad movie gauntlet. I watch some really cheesy and shitty horror movies on a regular basis and by my standards this isn’t even worth of skimming through for the good parts. Do yourself a favor and don’t give in to the hype surrounding this piece of rancid dog shit. I’d rather watch a piece of shit bake in the sun than watch this movie again.

Great cinema that is as nasty as the title implies. It is only implication, however, otherwise, one thinks it would be so utterly repulsive that it wouldn’t be released, let alone be made. Gore-hounds are mostly likely be disappointed, because of the lack of on-screen gore and violence. There are throat slitting and old-fashioned gun shooting sequences, but no sewing of the mouths to the ass (thank heavens). This film, however, does not really need to emphasize the already beyond sickening concept onscreen. The idea is emphasized through the humiliation and extreme suffering of the three characters. The ending is brutal and emotionally devastating; its devastation is carried over through the subtle, and even poetic, treatment of the director. “The Human Centipede” is for not everyone, but fans of disturbing, dark and exploitive cinema should not miss this.

I’d watch it again for sure. I don’t think ‘medically’ it would be possible.. how would you breathe? haha but I thought it was a killer film! ;)

This movie felt more like a Dark and twisted comedy than a true horror film, probably from the campy and sometimes over the top acting and the absurdity of the entire premise. The over the top Doctor was the highlight of the movie for me and despite the over the top performance I think he is one of the most hilarious mad scientists I have seen in a movie in a long time. Worth a watch if you are into into weird and macabre body horror and unintentional comedy.

    A disappointing film.

The concept is great, Dieter Laser is fantastic and the final 25 minutes are pretty good.

The problem is the movie isn’t disturbing enough. I thought I would need to take a shower after this one but nope. The film doesn’t push the disturbing content far enough.

Actually it’s more amusing than disturbing.

Not bad but could’ve been better.

When I first heard of The Human Centipede I expected the film to be very Cronenberg-esque. As soon as the trailer hit the web it was very clear that wasnt going to be the case. Well, not entirely. Instead, I was treated to a decent and pretty original flick. My main 2 issues with this film are A)The female leads werent the best when it came to acting (the fact the both of the females end up in the middle and the rear really cuts this issue down once the film gets going). And B)There were a few continuity issues, but I can honestly say these arent hard to get past. The Human Centipede doesnt try to be too much more than it really is – a gross out flick. No gore or copious amounts of blood and body limbs here, more or less just the bizarre little beauty that is the centipede. Basically, if you demand too much from this film then the chance of you being disappointed is good. Its just a nice little independent horror movie that wants to gross you out rather than lead you down the same tunnel of torture flicks and remakes.

8, maybe 9 skulls. Where the reviewer didnt find this to be visceral, I did. I went in not knowing much (I dont really keep up with promos or check out photos etc released before the film) so after the first half hour of agonizing stupidy lost in the woods – I found this to be the next best thing to Texas Chainsaw Massacre in viscerality. A great new horror tale with a killer to truly fear. If he gets you, its bad news. This whole thing is an exercise in tense anticipation of an extreme fear. If you can empathize with strength, this film will have you at the edge of your seat.

When I first saw this movie I thought to my self WTF. I did not now if to laugf or cry because I started to crack up when I saw this movie. The first thing I thought was the Clerks 2 movie whre they had that conversation somtimes it forgiveable to go ass to mouth. Tom Six was good of makeing people sick to there stomach but I would have showed poop all over the girls mouth and had removed the damm strap that was covering there mouth. So rember Kids if you are stranded in the woods don’t trust a German surgen or you two might be turn into a human Centipede and pray that you are not the back part because you wont have any one to lick your pooper clean. Favorite line from this movie is (Feed Her:):):)
PS: I would recomend this movie to any horror fan who is not squimish and makes a great birthday present for somone you hate or love.

I liked the originality of the movie the most, but it still was a pretty good movie. The doctor played a terrific psyco with great outbursts of anger. Nasty concept, but not at all as violent as advertised. I still think you should check it out.

This ass to mouth concept is OK but I think it was not expoited enough. The doctor was a lunatic and as most lunatics do, they live in bullet proof homes hidden in the underbrush where nobody sees it and he can freely do all the creepy things that seem to be his hobby. My sweet three dog. The centipede thing needed to be a bit more gory and convincing. Then maybe its just me.

Originality is the name of this beast and credit must go to Tom Six as well as IFC for picking up something that they knew in her their hearts of hearts was not marketable to anyone except for those of us who lurk on websites such as our very own Bloody-disgusting.com, so kudos again on a wonderful idea, however that is where my love for the film stops.
Human Centipede is a great idea, but like a lot of ideas it does not translate into a film all that well, if this had been a novel it could have been played up pretty well. I say this as the dialogue in the film is very one sided and leaves a need for atmosphere and sound, which we are never given, instead we are treated to a rather mundane audio and visual experience. Aside from originality the doctor does make this film a little more enjoyable, but again what starts off as a great role slowly slips away into something that is far too stereotypical. There is no building of characters nor is a level of sympathy that one would feel outside of I sure would not like that to happen to me ever garnered, instead after thirty minutes the viewer is left thinking of only one thing and that is how do you end a movie that has a concept, but no story. The ending to this piece of work is probably its greatest feature, while the originality and concept were great in its initial stages; those two things are never more than a theory to us the viewer. The ending itself or at least the ending that is presented is not one that will be discussed until the end of time, however it is a rarity in the fact that the ending seems organic a natural progression even though it is a less than pleasant one, it truly was the only way you can end something like this.

In the end the film is ultimately a direct to DVD style horror movie, its most redeeming qualities are an idea, the shock factor of the idea, a made to order scientist and lastly an ending that had to have to been thought up not all that long after the initial idea. For most people I would suggest giving it a once through, albeit on 2x fast-forward, for Gore hounds I would suggest missing it entirely, this was never meant for you.
I personally loved the concept but ultimately loathed the film, it just never came across as a horror movie and yes I know due to the disturbing nature of the actual act it has to be, but honestly if one violent disturbing image is all it takes to become a horror movie than I suppose Bambi needs to be reviewed on Bloody-Disgusting as its imagery has messed up more people than a lot of what is passed off to us as horror.
So from my opinion I would give the film one and half skulls, from an unbiased standpoint I believe it deserves two and a half skulls.

One of the weirdest conepts for a scary movie in years. Maybe a litle too weird. Still, lots of tension, good perfomances, and a few scares. But not something I am eager to see again. It’s not that it is so violent, because it isn’t. It’s just that it is too demented and gross. And coming from me that means a lot.

We never saw the bandages off, im not sure if they were meant to be there until it had healed or to actuallykeep them in place or whatever, but it would have been good to see some effects with exception of stitches on the mouth. Had alot of disturbing scenes yet some humour, unless that one was just me. The part where the asian man needed to erm..’go’, was the worst. i cant imagine how bad it would have been to be the one in the middle O_O

Hell yeah, undoubtedly one of this year’s best horror flicks so far! Disturbing, disgusting and terrifying, but also extremely entertaining, full of black humour and cynism, with a highly original and inventive story, very beautiful camera work, brilliant-looking settings, terrific atmosphere, an interesting spartan score, incredible images, a pretty good cast and of course Dr. Heiter (played by an incredible Dieter Laser), one of the greatest villains I’ve seen in a long time.
I can hardly wait for “The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence)”!

The only part of this that could be considered “horror” is the acting. Put a camera in front of a pile of rotting garbage, and you’d be better entertained.
In addition, this story appears to have been written by a three year old – but that may be an insult to the little ones out there.
1 – Who pulls up next to a parked car on the side of the highway and takes a crap?
2 – If you’re in a foreign country and get a flat, walk through the woods. In the dark.
3 – How did the one guy get the three people up the stairs after connecting them?
4 – Who the f**k cares? Why am I asking these questions?

I heard the director received death threats because of this movie. I was not one of those, but I almost understand; although he certainly does not deserve to die for making this POS, but he should be banned from movies. This movie was offensive to cameras.
Uwe Boll could film himself taking a crap, and it would be better than this. Can I give it zero skulls?

The Human Centipede was a disturbing, yet oddly humorous excuse for a film. The trailer had me intrigued, I was curious to see what the doctor could create from his three victims, and found myself excited to see it was some sort of creature. Can you blame me after hearing the title? But moving on…In the beginning, I found the two american girls to be annoying and just plain stupid, I mean who wanders through the woods after getting a flat tire? And what are they doing in the middle of nowhere anyway if they’re on their way to a club??? The two should have been more wary walking up to a magnificent house occupied but only one man, a surgeon at that. However, I could tell from the point that a fat man pulled up next to them and asked them to fuck him, this director was preparing us for something brutal. When I heard that, I laughed out loud, almost in shock…these girls were in for it. When they arrived at the doctor’s house, I saw a piece of artwork on the wall in his living room of siamese twins–instant creep factor. That alone would have sent me running out the door. But don’t forget, these girls are dumb. And the doctor was played very well, he came off as a quietly suspicious, yet sharp-tongued man. The surgery scene came fairly quickly, I wasn’t expecting him to perform it until close to the end, who could imagine an entire movie consumed of 3 conjoined people trying to escape? One girl attempted to run away after the three were explained what he planned to do, and at times the girl was laughable(hiding in his pool, really?). However, the doctor’s performance was pretty solid, I loved the part when the girl cried, You are a sick man! You need help! and he just pounded on the door and yelled laughing, I AM A SICK MAN! So finally, he attaches them mouth-to-anus, and at that moment as he began to stand them up, I felt a sudden sense of sadness, and he showed them their reflection in the mirror. It was a little silly how he became so overthrown with joy over it, like he’d just created some sort of masterpiece, but the three began to sob, and I felt horrible. In the back of my mind though I did find a relief to know he shut the girls up! Further and further from there, the movie kind of went downhill. I mean after sewing 3 people ass-to-face, what exactly could he do with them? Put them in a cage, force them to fetch, whip them, watch them defecate into each other’s mouth’s, and if they ever escaped, what the hell could they possibly do? While the movie had an original idea, and such medical procedure is possible, the movie itself could only go so many miles. The fact that the director plans for a sequel really says something, and the teaser suggests he isn’t doing it to produce a moving film, but to inflate his massive ego and out-gross his previous one. He really thinks he can do something new with 12 people in sequence? The movie upset me at times, despite it not being “graphic” by today’s standards(for instance, they wore bandages the entire film, I mean come on! /sarcasm). It’s not that the film was scary itself, just the idea that it could happen, there are sick, mental people out there, and the main question, What would you do if in that situation? But all in all, The Human Centipede I would not say is “the sickest film ever”, and the director needs a new hobby if you ask me.

The acting was bad, the plot was thin, the effects were fairly good, but this movie was just not interesting. It failed to build the tension that would have made it’s slower segments hold your interest. Overall an original idea but a failure.

Acting is kinda bad, not gonna lie. And the muzzle flashes at the end look like Syfy flashes, and thats not good. But other than that, It’s really good. So I enjoy it just for that concept, I like something new when it comes to horror movies. So I think its worth renting.

The real shit sucking was that this waste of time got made…

Yet again, why I should not listen to hype. The only thing shocking about this was that I actually sat through it all and that people actually thought this was shocking. What an idiotic waste of time. The premise may have been disturbing, but the actual film wasn’t. The doctor was a sad Udo Kier wannabe, the film plodded along until the premise came to fruition as the creative writing project of some antisocial 15 year old in study hall. The whole poo in mouth thing was just asinine and done for shock value. Trust me, while it is SO not my thing, I have seen FAR worse in some underground German fetish films. Why is it that I’m constantly disappointed and annoyed by films that I’m told are so disturbing and intense? This was just fucking stupid…

I don’t understand all the hate… If someone wants an original horror film, full of disgusting imagery, then look no further.
Sure the acting is a little rough in spots, but that goes along with the low-budget genre.
Strangely enough, this film even refrainded from going into pure exploitation shock value too… a lot of the gross out moments are implied or off screen, in a way that I think Hitchcock would have approved, had he ever made an ass to mouth film.
For the people who claim they’ve seen far worse (in underground german fetish films. Okaaay… Congratulations? You’re the winner of the disgusting fetish contest?) Yes, there are much worse gore-for-gore’s-sake movies out there, but this actually has an original story. Or situation… I guess there isn’t a TON of story.

All in all, I give it massive points for being the most original horror film I’ve seen all year. Any flaws, are taken with a grain of salt simply due to the fact that this isn’t a remake, sequel, or rip off. Go Tom Sixx!

This film certainly lived up to its premise though a rating of 3/5 is about right. The acting all round is fine. The characters do some daft things in order to propel the story forward. Why do captives always have to be stupid in these movies? At times it was like watching that God-awful Wolf Creek all over again. The girl trying to escape makes so much noise you keep yelling shut-the-fk-up! at the screen. The Asian captive had a few opportunities to attack his captor and it irked me that he didn’t just lunge for the guy a lot earlier in the film. The two cops characters were unbelievably stupid. I would have liked the scientist’s character to be fleshed out a bit, explain his motivation further. Also, the ending lacked poetry. Definitely worth a watch

Very interesting movie. I was expecting more gore and crappy acting but I found the acting to be quite good. Off the wall but not over the top, it is a slow burn of sorts but to me that just made it even sicker, in a good way. The cops were idiots and I hate that in movies :/ And the ending felt like, well, kinda sad and annoying crap. How do you have such an interesting movie and characters (excluded the dumb-ass cops) then just end it like you ran out of film?? I’m all for tragic endings but this just felt unfinished. Bummer, it coulda been great.

Disturbing and awkward. This movie was completely different than I thought it would be. I was actually enjoying the movie for the first half hour our so. I thought they would have taken, the more “Frankenstein” creation approach. What I ended up seeing was 90′s minutes of a German porn. This movie could have been something, if they would have taken a turn in another direction.

In an age when people are salivating over 70′s remakes and “Saw 93″ I have to give them credit for really trying something creative and unlike 99% of anything I’ve seen. With that said, while it’s an entertaining flick, it’s not a great movie. Not that it’s bad either, I just was left flat at the end. Maybe it was that no angle of the movie went quite far enough. I’m okay that it wasn’t all gore, but then I needed something else to get racheted up. Listen I give them all the credit in the world for being original and trying. Maybe in this day and age of complete horror crap, that’s about all we can hope for.

“The Human Centipede” is definitely a love it or loathe it film. I can certainly see the controversy surrounding it as it has the demented german surgeon obviously inspired by the horrific things nazi surgeons did in the war. Germans are definitely not going to take to this, I think they’d like to forget about the war but this is really exploting what they did on a sickening level, but thankfully I’m not German.

Yeah, I’m english and so it didn’t offend me disturbed me. It disturbed me in such a way that it has left a scar in my brain and watching it was certainly an experience I will never forget. I found myself watching the credits roll (something I don’t normally do) I was confused and didn’t really know what to think about what I just witnessed. But something that has that effect on you is very rare in my case it’s only happened on such disturbing brilliance like “Martyrs” and “Mum & Dad” and so surely that must mean something.

You know when a film is good if it becomes more of an experience rather than watching a moving image and Tom Six’s “The Human Centipede” certainly became an experience for me. The premise is so disturbing and insanely original! The film certainly had it flaws with the somewhat cliched first half but when the surgeon actually makes the centipede it actually becomes not cliched at all and actually gripping stuff.

The directing was beautiful, Tom Six is really a talented man, the lighting and slow camera movements really added to the coldness and isolation of the film. Dieter Laser really did an incredible performance as the mad doctor, his face is so menacing (no offence Dieter) and his deep german accent actually becomes quite scary. He really is a frightening villain!

I heard that this was meant to be a comedy but I didn’t find much of it funny at all. If this is a dark comedy than it’s too dark for me to see it.

In the end “The Human Centipede” certainly won’t win the critics over, but I’m no critic, I’m just a horror fanatic and this film really stuck with me. You have to make up your own mind about this so I’d definitely say give it a go

I have to Agree with horrorking95 review of this movie. “The Human Centipede” is psychologically deep rooted. People have been watching this movie just for the total “shock value” of it. We forget that the actual surgical procedure is anatomically correct. It is possible to create a “Human Centipede”

It is one of the most original and completely “Bizarre” movies I have watched in a very long time, yeah so the acting is “shoddy” but that reflects the budget the movie was given. Lets face it, you would never get an “A List” actor to take on such a role. Although seeing Megan Fox’s face sewed to Angelina Jolie’s ass would have been very entertaining with Michael Douglas as the head. Now there’s something to give you nightmares!!

Sick, Depraved and totally twisted. I am pleased I have watched this movie and lord only knows what the sequel will bring?? “The Human Centipede” is a definite “once seen, never forgotten” movie.

Give it a view and remember a review is only one persons opinion, make your own mind up!!

    The Human Centipede
    *May contain Peanuts & Spoilers

Like it or not Writer/Director Tom Six is getting recognition and a sort of pseudo fame for his gross out horror flick “The Human Centipede”. This movie plays like a B movie side show act. Six looks only to use simplistic story telling techniques and minimal character development to bring his creation to life. This movie was made only to shock and disgust and rarely does either effectively.

The story line is quite generic and could be lifted from numerous other horror films. Two American college girls traveling in Europe are on their way to a party when their car breaks down in the countryside. Both girls are extremely annoying and shallow New Yorkers who brave the rain to find a house occupied by a mad German doctor/scientist, played by Dieter Laser (I love that name). Perhaps the best part of the movie is Laser’s performance as the insane doctor who will stop at nothing to create this monster.

Along with a Japanese guy, it is explained that the surgery will connect the three young people ass to mouth to create a “medically accurate” new animal. And why does he want to this? Probably either for shits and giggles or to launch a new German fetish porn site. The movie promises a Human Centipede and you eventually get a Human Centipede. While there are some sick and twisted images, it really does little to create a sense of empathy for the characters that are in the unfortunate positions. Then comes the question of once you’ve created a Human Centipede, what do you do with it? He takes it out in the back yard for a bit, then at night he locks it up in a cage

Tom Six is currently in post production for next year’s sequel which promises a longer centipede and hopefully a better plot. He set the bar pretty low for the first one, so hopefully the sequel will cash in on the problems of the first one.

This is 10 stars for originality alone. Tom Six is one sick fuck. Dieter Laser makes this movie. He plays a cold, heartless, brutal, and sadistic surgeon/mad scientist.
The imagery from “The Human Centipede” will be burned into your noggin’ for eternity. This is the sickest film I’ve seen since that French movie where the chick gets all ov her skin peeled off.
It’s good. Don’t understand the comments about the film being boring. Quite the opposite going on here. You’ll be on the edge of yr. seat waiting for the first link in the “centipede” chain to shit. I agree that Mr. Six may indeed have a shit-eating fascination.
What in the world would someone like Tom Six be doing if he weren’t makin’ movies like this? You ever thought that when watching a movie by one of your favorite auteurs? I have more than once. I shudder to think.

So when I got the chance to see The Human Centipede at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, I jumped at the chance. It was the closing gala night film (what else would close?) I think the theatre helped make the experience of this film better than watching it alone.

The title and trailer made this film the hype sensation it was and the most talked about horror film of the year. Can a film live up to such a bizarre and disgusting premise? The answer is yes and no. The film does deliver on what it promises, a human centipede and it has some good laughs in it. I found the film to be a comedy more than a horror. Although, with every positive, there is a negative and the film doesn’t go FAR ENOUGH!!! What!!?!?!?!?! Is he serious? Yes, I am.

With a film like this, one that has generated such a considerable amount of buzz about how grotesque the subject matter is, you would expect the film to be pretty disgusting. The Human Centipede is not disgusting. First of all, it’s all imagination. The film has one scene that might get people gagging a bit, but I expected more than half of the film to be like that. It’s not. The director Tom Six seems to have let the concept get the best of him and thought to himself that this concept alone will make a entertaining film. The answer is unfortunately no. A concept does not make a film.

I don’t applaud Tom Six, I applaud the two actresses who had to ‘act’ 3/4 of the film in the centipede position. The film tries to build some suspense but it’s pretty hard when you have three people moving at a snails pace around a house. The film has it’s funny moments, which are all primarily given by the mad doctor, the brilliant Dieter Laser. He knows he’s in a crappy film and he plays up the role beyond hilarity and over the top cheese.

The Human Centipede is a horror film that is weak on the horror and would rather rely on a concept that try to say something about modern horror or anything for that matter. Characters do stupid things, the ‘horror’ is hidden and makes you think about the disgustingness rather than show it. The Human Centipede follows with a few words (The First Sequence). So expect a sequel, especially since the film was such a huge thing.

The film got so much buzz over the concept alone. There was hardly any chance that the film would be able to match it. So a lot of people will be setting themselves up for disappointment. It is a great concept, otherwise people wouldn’t be talking about it, but the film on the other hand falls a little short.

Well, at the screening they asked for some people to demonstrate the human centipede. Once a guy saw that two females were on stage, he ran up there. He was also Asian, coincidence? Before the movie started they also told us that the tagline they used was correct. Is this really 100% medically accurate? Who knows, I hope not.

Watching this movie made feel like these 3 unfortunate souls were truly sewn together. While to me this is more for the torture porn lovers, it will make anyone that sees it cringe when finding out how the “centipede” feeds. SO what was the fucking point? There was none!! YOU can have any original idea you want, but if it’s for shits and giggles, then what you have is a failure to communicate.

It was a laugh-fest. I spent most of the film rolling on the floor! The acting was abysmal (except maybe the doctor) and even in scenes where they could have shown some serious gore, they didn’t! But what hurt my soul the most with this movie was that it had the potential to be a totally disgusting and disturbing film, especially with a story such as “human centipede” (who does this not offend?). How could they drop the ball on this one and go for cheap laughs instead of utter horror? Shit film. Don’t watch it unless you feel like a comedy.

Chances are you’ve heard something about this flick. It’s been spread around the internet and by word of mouth since its premise was released and just gained more and more hype about its gruesome nature and horrifying concept as time went on. I had the privilege (err) opportunity to see this a month or so ago and I jumped at that chance. I had heard all the horror stories about it and was ready for a disgusting ride. So, what did I think?

I’ve seen worse. I’ve seen far, far worse. This was really all talk and the concept is where all the horror comes from, not the actual film. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nasty movie. It’s unsettling and disturbing but it doesn’t live up to its reputation. The story, for those of you who are unaware, takes place in Germany and is about a renowned (mad) doctor who is known for his exemplary work with separating Siamese twins. Something happens and he doesn’t do that anymore (I don’t remember and honestly, it doesn’t really matter and I don’t feel like looking it up) and now dreams about creating a human centipede. He tried it on his three dogs but it failed so, naturally, he wants to fulfill his dream with some people. These people aren’t voluntary guinea pigs or anything like that. He stocks and captures people for his sick experiment.

Since it’s a horror film, there are two dimwit American girls who are traveling around Germany and are trying to meet up with some guys they met earlier. Of course they end up on some side road in the woods and they bust a tire. As they sit and gripe about their situation, a local pulls up and verbally assaults them in German and peacefully leaves when they roll up the windows. That’s right. If you’re ever in trouble, just roll up your windows and the problem will leave. Thanks, Human Centipede! I’ll be sure to apply this lesson to my life.

Anyway, the girls decide it’s a good idea to try and find help so they leave the safety of their car with magic windows and somehow, end up lost in the woods. They stumble upon a house and guess whose house it is. Yeah, it’s the doctor’s house. You know, there’s really no point in going much further. You’ve heard what happens. He makes a human centipede with the two girls and an Asian guy. As they lay strapped down, he thoroughly explains the procedure. It’s not a pleasant speech to say the least. He then puts his plan into action and horror ensues, I guess. It’s really not that bad, honestly. Sure, the ass to mouth visual is pretty gnarly but when there are films like Antichrist, Audition, and even Haute Tension and The Hills Have Eyes remake out there, this really seems tame in comparison. You don’t see much of the procedure at all but the idea of it and seeing the finished creation is what freaks people out.

I’m not saying it’s not bad. It’s a disgusting concept and quite disturbing. I did enjoy the film (for the most part) but, to me, it doesn’t deserve all of the buzz that it’s earning. It’s a dark and sadistic little film but it’s not the end all be all of horror. If you find yourself curious, see it. It’s worth the watch but mainly just to say, “Yeah, I saw The Human Centipede.”

Author’s Note: Though I greatly respect and admire Mr. Roger Ebert, I found his review for this little terror quite over dramatic especially since he awarded it zero stars because “it is what it is and occupies a world where the stars don’t shine.” I do recommend watching Daniel Tosh’s 24 minute “review” of the film though. It’s quite entertaining: http://www.comedycentral.com/videos/index.jhtml?videoId=343580&title=spoiler-alert-human-centipede

This film has no artistic value whatsoever. A friend called me up and asked if i wanted to watch a horror film, so already i was like FUCK YEAH! I didn’t even know the title until i got to his unit. I asked and he said “The Human Centipede.” Ok first and foremost going into this film i had no info on it. I never heard of it, and didnt even hear any news, hype or hate for this film. So what the hell right…

what a trip. The acting was terrible and the concept, while apparently possible medically, only interested me a little. Well with a lack of a set plot or acting to distract me i thought, “Well ok if these elements suck, then maybe it will get gruesome with the surgical procedures.”

Again a let down. Not even good gore scenes or un-nerving sugical sequences. The film from then on was drawn out while plugging my ears trying to block out the most annoying Asian from screaming for almost no reason. And he had the best end you could get.

Not really worth your time. It isn’t disgusting, interesting or even wrong. Its a dumb movie… I didnt like it at all and would never recommend it to anyone.

My good friend Wayne insisted I show ‘The Human Centipede First Sequence’ for our film club night. I may have been the only one that appreciated it. However, we all agreed it could have been oh so much better.

This film has a wonderful central evil and crazy scientist character called Dr. Heiter played by Dieter Laser (see above photo). He has such a great face and voice. He is definitely the best thing in this film by Tom Six. Dr Heiter lost three dogs in an experimental operation…I think the correct discription would be ‘mental’ operation. An operation where all dogs were stitched together, mouth to anus. Dr Heiter believes he can carry out the same technique to humans….. the phrase âe~All stations to Barkingâe(TM) come to mind. A phrase I remember from working alongside Richard E Grant in ‘The Scarlet Pimpernel’ my dear luvvies!

The filming, set design and feeling of isolation and helplessness is very powerful in this story. Where Tom Six has missed a trick is that he should have spent more time on individual character building at the beginning of the film, so you care or are able to have some empathy when the victims begin their journey to absolute hell.

You may have seen the stunning ‘Wolf Creek’ which did an awesome job developing characters and their relationships and feelings for each other, all this took place during the first 45 minutes. ‘Wolf Creek’ achieved a master stroke in getting the audience involved with the three main players. I wish Tom Six did the same with this film. I can only guess with ‘The Human Centipede’ there were production time constraints or lack of funding, who knows. Watching this film felt a bit like when your late to get to the cinema, you’ve missed the first half hour, and you sit in your seat just when the nasty madness kicks in.

Apparently the idea for this surgical venture stemmed from a conversation about what punishment would be suitable for all convicted paedophiles. The other great bit of PR they pushed is that the actual operation connecting human beings, mouth to anus, is 100% medically accurate. Most sensible people would laugh at this, but after seeing this film I was totally convinced… Does that mean Iâe(TM)m a sucker for advertising or a little naive?

I guess this film is a love it or hate it experience. I totally get what Tom Six was aiming for with this film, it’s brave and original. To be honest it was not as naff or as graphic as I expected, or may be it was and because I see so much of this horror stuff I’ve become immune…I dunno. Perhaps I need to build a gentle film review website for rom-com’s only…..oh god No! Coincidentally, I have contacted Tom Six because I want to work with him, but I aint gonna spend weeks on all fours as a victim in ‘The Human Centipede 3′. I want to be the next crazy scientist geezerfreak!!

Surprisingly good if you ignore some B-class stuff.

To be honest when I read about this movie I thought that it would be much more gory / violent.
When I saw it for the first time I was like “Well this is a nice movie” but when I watched it for the second try I began to love it.
I have to say that the character Dr. Heiter was probably the best character in this movie.

Despite everyone liking this movie, I found it amusing, yet so stupid.
