I do agree with Ryan Dayley
If you have the patience, A Violent Kind is a ultimately rewarding, interesting genre-masher that despite it’s flaws in the plot department manages to be a good viewing investment. Worth a rent for adventurous horror fans.
Weird, offbeat,violent and oddly memorable. The Violent Kind starts off as one thing and becomes something else at the end. I enjoyed it.
A white trash version of Funny Games. Wierd..
White trash? I’ve seen better scripts in a porn film. If it wasn’t for the eye candy this film would be unwatchable.
SPOILERS
I’m not much of a horror movie aficionado, but I gotta say, this is a fascinating piece of work marred only by a lag in act two where the pure gore slows down the possession plot. It doesn’t get interesting enough until we start to see more of the possession and contextual bits, which are too few until the end; in other words, too much time spent on gore, not enough on the real plot line. The lack of closure at the end is perfect, however, and the “missing persons” segment what makes me want to instantly watch it again.
Interesting storyline that doesn’t get muddled up on subplot. Disturbing kills. The physical attractiveness of all the characters really takes you out of the story; it’s hard to buy a gang of bikers composed of beautiful people.
@prettyscary
bitch please…
SAMCRO….just saying
Shit movie.
Could do without the supernatural alien stuff but other than that it’s a good movie.
The first Butcher Brothers film I saw was “The Hamiltons”, one of the dullest and most boring horror movies I’ve seen in the last 10 years. “The Violent Kind” is fortunately way better, but still far from being a good movie.
Actually, the first 50 minutes are quite good. There’s some mediocre acting and the pacing is often too slow, but aside from that, we get to see many highly thrilling scenes and atmospheric settings, some gorgeous gore and a few superhot chicks. The soundtrack consists of cool punk / rock / rockabilly tunes and the plot feels like an interesting blend of biker exploitation, exorcism horror and “The Evil Dead”.
Unfortunately, the remaining 30 minutes are largely crap. The plot, that throws up more questions than answers, takes a twist that turns out to be as inept as the twists in “Kill List” or “Slaughter”, we get introduced to a few characters that annoyed the shit out of me, the dialogue is incredibly inane, and the very last “Independence Day”-like scene is just ridiculous.
Nice try Butcher Brothers., but please try harder next time.
