Now out on DVD and Netflix Instant, writer/director Simon Rumley’s Red White & Blue (which I recommend to more open-minded viewers) tells the tragic story of three disparate Austin, Texas residents whose paths eventually collide in a shocking explosion of savage violence. I recently chatted with stars Amanda Fuller and Marc Senter – playing a soul-broken nymphomaniac and an aspiring rock star, respectively – whose one night of passion early in the film sets off a horrific chain reaction of murder and mayhem. The two gave insight into the making of the film, executive-produced by Alamo Drafthouse founder Tim League, as well as working with co-star Noah Taylor (The Proposition), who plays a mysterious blue-collar worker concealing a dark inner nature. Monster Mania is arguably one of the best Horror Cons on the East Coast, and with this years proposed lineup, it could be the biggest and best installment yet. With big names such as Dario Argento, Gary Busey (yes, that Gary Busey) , Malcolm McDowell and Doug Bradley, this promises to also be one of the best attended shows in Monster Mania’s history. There are also a lot of names which you don’t always see on the typical Horror Con lineup, first off Thom Mathews of Return of The Living Dead (“You mean the movie lied?!â€) and Friday The 13th Part 6:Jason Lives fame making his East Coast debut. Also on the bill (no pun intended), William Katt from Carrie and House, Meg Foster from They Live and Jeff Zornow, the artist behind the latest Halloween comic book series as well as Day of The Dead:Desertion and a slew of t-shirt designs for Fright Rags and Hip-Bonz. In addition to singular acts, there are two reunions going on, an original My Bloody Valentine Reunion (featuring a whopping 9 cast members) and a Night of The Creeps Reunion with Tom Atkins, Jason Lively, Stephen Marshall and Jill Whitlow. It plans to be a Horror nerds dream weekend. (more…) READ MORE

With all of the news breaking this evening we figured now would be a great time to introduce yet another review for George A. Romero’s Diary of the Dead (first review), which was just acquired by the Weinstein’s for US theatrical release. Read on for the review! The film follows a group of college students shooting a horror movie in the woods who stumble upon a real zombie uprising. When the onslaught begins, they seize the moment as any good film students would, capturing the undead in a “cinema verite” style that causes more than the usual production headaches.
