This was what I expected from a SYFY Channel Original!Story was decent. The special effects really hurt the film. The CGI wall arm scene was hilarious. The Banshee looked terrible as well.Lance Henriksen was very good and Lauren Holley was good too.The rest of the actors were pretty bad. This years batch of A.D. Originals have been pretty weak. This could have been great with a bigger budget and better actors. The end was pretty lame too!
WOW! this movie was terrible. It’s hard to imagine that this is a After Dark film when it deffentially felt like more of your average and very crappy SYFY Channel Orginal’s. The CGI is awful and The Banshee itself is so damn unscary that I swear to you the first time it actually showed up on screen I was laughing my ass off. The only redemming factors are seeing Lauren Holly in a tight tank top and honestly even Lance Henriksen’s random arrival towards the end was pretty damn funny. I seriously hope these A.D. movies get better because this is probably the worse batch of films they have released in a long time so far.
I must say I didn’t hate this movie I guess it was the hot 3 minute full frontal nudity scene of Lauren Holly that made this movie a keeper, oh wait I must have been daydreaming alittle bit there, okay back to the movie I kinda liked it I thought the Banshee was alright and the tits on Lance was pretty funny he reminded me of Meat Loaf(Bob)on Fight Club but it wasn’t great but a slightly above average after dark film.
Scream joins the ranks of the “crappy” after dark releases. It features a cast of largely bad actors, working with an equally bad script. Lance Henrikson really seems to phone it in with these small budget movie performances and Lauren Holly looks to have not aged as well as one would have hoped.
The premise of the story, that a banshee has been released and is terrorizing the people who have heard it’s scream sounds promising, but it fails in most regards. It seems to borrow heavily, from the nature of screaming causing you to die, to the way people are exposed to the scream, it is simply a rehashing of plot points that worked better in other movies.
The violence and monster in the movie are both poor executed and clearly fit in more on a Syfy channel saturday nigh horror film than anywhere else. Had they went the funny/campy approach, we might have had something. Sadly this movie takes itself seriously and it was a serious disappointment.
The best thing I can say is that the film was only 90 minutes long and that a few scenes of terror had promise, but the remainder was simply bad. Not only do I say save your rental money, but don’t even waste time watching it if it replays on syfy.
If neither Lance Henriksen nor a melted version of Lauren Holly can save this movie, then nothing can. A relatively interesting idea with mythology that isn’t often used in Hollywood being carried out in a boring, monotonous way. Sorry guys, just because it’s not a commonly used creature doesn’t mean you don’t need any creativity to turn it into a movie. More information here:

Not much to say about “Scream Of The Banshee”, an After Dark / Syfy-produced low-budget nonsense about a resurrected Banshee that terrorizes a few anthropology students.
The direction is weak and frequent c-movie writer Anthony Ferrante’s script is a muddled and extremely predictable mess. The whole movie looks and feels cheap due to many lame-looking settings and some horrid CGI effects. The cast ranges from mediocre (Lauren Holly, Lance Henriksen) to incredibly bad (Todd Haberkorn, Marcelle Baer).
The Banshee looks cool, the gore is nice and there are some quite cool practical effects, but overall it’s rather uninteresting and forgettable.
