very impressive for what it is.. rodrigo cortes really does make one hell of a movie about a dude trapped in a box.. ryan reynolds is great in this flick too. its literally just 90 minutes of reynolds trapped in a box.. very intense at times.. not recommended for all movie fans.. just recommended for people who enjoy film.. its not a pleasant experiance

I share a worst fear with Edgar Allen Poe, being buried alive. This film made me feel very uneasy but it’s extremely well done. Some of the panicked humor kind of took me out of it, but hey whatever. Couldn’t have asked for a better ending.

i don’t know that a lot of people liked that film but i didn’t
it didn’t even have a plot
it was just a person for 90 minutes who just called people to get him out and it was obvious from the beginning that he was going to die because on such trap-films the character always dies
i don’t know why i was bored: because the film had just one actor or because the plot didn’t have a point?
it was just a cheap propaganda against Muslims

wow this movie blew me away i didnt think someone could pull of a movie 90 min long bout a guy trapped in a coffin but it fucking worked.. AWESOME dramatic piece of film i give ryan reynolds a hell of a bow for having emotional taken hold of me during this 90 min. He was outstanding. And i respect he agreed to do such a small indie role. Very well made movie .. not for everyone but certaintly an awesome flick.

It’s really awesome to grow up with an actor, and I definitely grew up with Ryan. From Van Wilder and Just Friends to the Amityville Horror Remake and The Proposal to this. He just keeps surprising me and taking me to new places. It’s hard to maintain a person’s interests for 10 minutes (no matter how smart or easily entertained you are) let alone, 90 minutes, and Cortes does this with ease. After having said that, nothing about watching a man buried alive was easy to sit through. I left feeling so much better about my life. Thank you, Ryan. Hah.

Initially I was quite skeptical towards the idea of a movie that shows a man in a coffin for more than 90 minutes and I never thought that this could work – but now that I’ve seen it, I truly can say:
YES, it works. It really, really works; everything about “Buried” works:

~ Ryan Reynolds delivers the performance of his life. Extremely believable and mindblowingly emotional.
~ The script is just awesome: perfectly written, perfectly paced, full of terrific ideas, great plot twists and brilliant dialogue.
~ Rodrigo Cortés’ direction which makes the movie unbelievably tense and suspenseful.
    ~ It’s absolutely never boring!
~ The camera work is simply outstanding.
~ The score is powerful and always sweeping.
~ The ending is a super-stunning shocker that left me speechless and perplexed in my seat.

Undoubtedly one of the most impressive movie of 2010 and one of the most original movies of the last years.

I was hotly anticipating this critical darling as I thought it would be an interesting idea. Turned out to be way overrated. The film time was way to long for this premise, I kept checking the time and the conclusion was way too unsatisfying. Ryan Reynolds gives a decent performance that borders on annoying at times. This movie was just simply alright when I was expecting brilliance.

One of the best movies I’ve seen all year. I was floored by this. Going into it, and even after the first half hour mark I was thinking, yeah, this is an interesting idea and all, but I don’t think I’ll ever need to watch it again. By the ending, my heart rate was up and I was on the edge of my seat, something I can’t say another movie has done for me on DVD this year.
Reynolds was great, and the cinematography was inegenous but never flashy.
Not even a day later, I was ready to watch it again and show some friends.

This movie did so much with so little, the director managed to capture intense moments and kept me on the edge of my seat, all in this one coffin. I never thought a movie that takes place in a coffin with ONE man would be so entertaining. I’m a Ryan Reynolds fan and he did wonderful this time around once again. This film shows you how quick the government will just be rid of your situation if it doesn’t benefit them. The ending was kind of a bummer, but I like that it was realistic. Definitely a movie you should check out at least once. Something different to watch.

This was one movie that was hard to grasp the plot from just viewing the trailer except for the fact that it takes place in a coffin. For it basically being a one-man-show it offers a fair amount of mixed emotions from sadness to slight humor and anger with tense frustration.

Even the reason of why everything is happening is intense and very believable. It makes you wonder if this has or still going on. Ryan Reynolds does a wonderful job with having just himself to work with. And the box too I suppose… It is a must see IMO. The ending leaves you breathless…

All in all I’m glad I watched this movie. I would never watch it again, but it was pretty good. I guess the fact the entire movie takes place in a box is a bit annoying and a little boring. Some parts were kind of intense but the humor let up on the intensity throughout the film. I would for sure suggest this to any horror fan.

Good acting, good direction. Its gotta be hard to keep a film interesting that takes place entirely inside a coffin but Ryan Reynolds and Rodrigo Cortes pulled it off. That being said the ending was disappointing. I don’t think I’ll watch this film again.

Much like Frozen and Open Water and last year’s Devil, Buried is a small film which takes place entirely in one location. In this case, our main character portrayed stunningly well by Ryan Reynolds is buried underground in a coffin in Iraq. Director Rodrigo Cortes has certainly gone out of his way to craft a newer take on the buried alive scenario, managing to introduce different characters, or at least the voices of different characters to help add to what was a relatively simple story.

Not sure if we really needed to Iraqi Warm government contractor and evil corporate bureaucracy themes, but it still managed to work. Anytime you make a movie with only one person on screen, it takes an amazing actor giving an amazing performance to actually work and I think Reynolds mostly succeeded here.

My only issue with the film was its ending, which all of a sudden reminded me of an old Tales from the Darkside episode back in the 80s. I wasn’t really surprised by the ending, but perhaps some folks will be. It does manage to keep you guessing for quite some time.

All in all, this was a great movie which manages to capture the pure essence of horror, from the fear of being buried alive, claustrophobia and even some good old fashioned suffocation fears thrown in. This film is definitely worth a viewing.

The unknowing, the clausterphobia, and the jacked up final frames are all well crafted in buyable anger, fear, and despair–a round of applause for Cortes and Reynolds in pulling this off and entertaining with so few variables to play off of. The most isolated movie I have seen—makes isolationist themed Open Water and Frozen seem like mass cast parties in multiple locations in comparison. Good movie, and what an ending.

Okay what the fu!k kind of ending was that!!!! Ryan Reynolds was terrific as a one man show about a truck driver that wakes up and finds himself buried in a wooden coffin with tools for instance a cell phone which he desperately communicates with the outside world and finds out some type of group put him there for ransome. It is claustrophobia at it’s most terrifying and there are tons of edge of your seat moments with little time to breathe, it doesn’t let you go, it’s unrelenting tension and suspense. I know what kind of movie I was getting myself into but I kind of lost my patience with it when it just took place in one area and it could of bounced back and forth between the coffin and the outside world a little bit to speed up the pace and action. What makes me most frustrated with this film is that towards the end it manipulates and teases you with conclutions and it pissed me off, why would we want that in a movie that we paid for? Overall it was a fine performance from the one man show actor and it was suspenseful and intense but I can see why it didn’t get much of a wide release in theaters because it was pretty much in the end a pointless exercise of survival that could of been so much better as a whole but wasn’t and I’m extremely disappointed with it. Don’t waste your precious time on this one. Not recommended!

FINALLY got to see this gem yesterday… THANK YOU, NETFLIX! I loved this flick. Ten minutes in I was wondering how Cortes could fill another hour twenty and keep me interested. Brilliant camera work, fantastic lighting sequences, a solid script, and a powerful performance from Reynolds more than answered that question! Although I’d inadvertently stumbled upon unproclaimed spoilers..cough..on this site…cough, cough…and, therefore, knew the ending, I found myself intrigued enough by the story and its premise to remain riveted. This film disturbs enough to make you think and to leave you wondering… “Does this sh*t really happen?” What more can we ask for from cinema?

Nothing but good things to say about this movie. I don’t know how you make a film all shot inside of a casket work. But “Buried” manages to bring you right into the setting, with one of the scariest situations imaginable. Something about this possible predicament, gives this film plenty of horror value.

Buried, Is an interesting film to say the least. It has its moments of thrills, wonder and at times drags. Overall the movie is top notch for taking place in one location. (A nice sign of hope for cheap independent filmmakers). Ryan Reynolds preforms very well and makes you feel for his character. But after its all said and done the movie twists and leaves you thinking a few things. 1. Pondering what just happened and 2. Was this movie really worth it in the end? I think it was but I can see the counter argument. Its a good way to burn an hour and a half on a boring day. Rent it!

Ok first off Ryan Reynolds did a great job. Now the movie was actually really good and different and I loved it up until the ending. I mean come on why would you just end it like that. I think it was just a cheap way to conclude a fine movie. Isnt it really so hard to show some hope and have a happy ending once in a movie. Like I said if it wasnt for the ending I would have loved it but to me it suks ass just because of that.

Lets get one thing straight; if the ending of this movie is something that is going to make or break your opinion of this film you should probably get off Bloody-Disgusting and go to Disney.com, because I believe that is what you’re looking for. Although, somewhat predictable with a great little twist of false hope towards the ends this film was excellent all around. Buried had so much stress and tension built up throughout the entire movie all from the confines of a coffin not much bigger than the man inside of it. This man is Ryan Reynolds, and he goes a more than incredible job playing the character of Paul Conroy. In my eyes this movie has done everything right, and did it everything it was intended to do. This is easily one of the most under-rated films of the last 3 years.

I went into the movie thinking that it could easily go either way. It takes a very special actor to pull off being in a coffin for literally the entire movie. I kept thinking that at some point it would show the caller but it never did. Which was amazing. I think it definitely added claustrophobia to the equation which may not be achieved in the same way at home as in the theater. It feels at times like you’re in the coffin with him. Although I thought the whole movie and even immediately after than I was going to hate it if it turned out the way it did, I think the ending made it a more lasting movie and it definitely stuck with me for longer because it. Without the ending I think it would have been much more mediocre.

I never imagined that being buried underground with Ryan Reynolds for about an hour and a half would be so entertaining, compelling, and dare I say, thrilling.

“Buried” has it all; a talented actor who is for once displaying his talents, a talented director, and a good premise. One would expect a film like “Buried” to be a forgettable mess. It’s not. What we get is a powerfully made thriller; one of the best of 2010. Perhaps it IS the best thriller of that year, which is saying a lot without saying much, because there weren’t many of them.

“Buried” has the highly-claustrophobic premise of a man who is buried underground with only a few items to keep him alive. As it turns out, terrorists have placed him under the earth thinking he is the enemy, which he is (technically) not.

The character fights. He fights hard. And we willingly follow this struggle because at times it gets emotionally heated in all the right ways. I really did enjoy “Buried”. This is Ryan Reynolds’ best movie, and this is one of 2010′s best. A must-see for horror/thriller fans.

I did try to put this movie off for while, but I had to be in the right mood to watch this movie, I was not sure if I could handle whole movie about man stuck in coffin for whole movie, i was thinking it was going bore the hell out of me.

So I sat down I watched I was really surprised how drawn was into the movie, I did check how far I was in 40min mark, I did get a tad bored but still carried on seeing the movie, I am clad I did as after 40min mark the movies flew by for me, I found the rest of movie really entertaining from there to the end.

Talking about the ending all I going say WOW, It was unbelievable.

I did not think I would like this movie at all but ended loving it and after the movie all I wanted to do was watch all over again.

This movie outstanding, acting was outstanding and ending was shocked the hell out of me.

Directed by Rodrigo Cortes who has directed about seven short films prior to this one…and his next project is with Robert De Niro in âe~Red Lightsâe(TM). Well deserved.

Ryan Reynolds plays âe~Paul Conroyâe(TM) a truck driver who wakes up in a wooden box. He has no idea why or how he got there… the film rolls showing this characters unbearable experience in one single location. It is obviously suffocating, terrifying and extremely intense. Ryan Reynolds does a tremendous job in this emotionally charged desperate situation. This story is of nightmares, the films simplicity is one of awe. After seeing this at the cinema I bought the Blu-ray, itâe(TM)s a definite for my own collection.

I was a little depressed afterwards, nothing to do with the film. I was just gutted that I didnâe(TM)t come up with this story. Itâe(TM)s an actorâe(TM)s dream role and must have been an economical project to fund. I find it astonishing that no one else has created a story like this before, some films have come close though. Not one to watch if you have a heart condition because the tension is nauseating to say the least. âe~Buriedâe(TM) has won several awards from four different film award organizations. Iâe(TM)m sure some people might not appreciate this film or they donâe(TM)t want to watch it knowing the concept. Itâe(TM)s intelligent, well scripted and edited. Everyone involved in this production should be very proud. An all round unique thrilling experience that will stay with you…

So unbelievably overrated, I don’t know where to begin. I love Ryan Reynolds, but I did not enjoy his acting in this. The movie was only an hour and a half, but if felt like three hours. Some of the dialogue was weird and the ending was a total cop out. I know a lot of people enjoyed this, but I personally did not get what all the hype was about.

The Movie starts out into a very stylish fantastic way and really reminds me of Vertigo & Alfred Hitchcock style. The movie differently reminds of Psycho, Rear Window, Strangers on a Train & Shadow of a Doubt which are all Alfred Hitchcock movie, the director most of been heavily influenced by his work in this very genius new take in suspense thriller. The movie is heart racing, really brings in powerful emotions & a brilliant directions that stands out, with also the one man performance piece of Ryan Reynolds really did shine a little to his talent as an actor. I like the music & sound score of the film (also Alfred Hitchcock type sound), that builds up the rush and panic in the movie. The storytelling is brilliant, as it makes me wonder if something like this actually happens? The Ending got me, I was like he going, no he’s not, wait yes he is, or crap no he not and the sweet moment when he’s gone make out alive, then FUCK HOLY SHIT NOOOOOO, that was the most shocking ending of this decade without any doubt, that was heart racing suspense of a movie. Bravo to Ryan Reynolds One man Performances & Director Rodrigo Cortes intelligent filmmaking that would really make Alfred Hitchcock Proud to watch.

Official Score: 4 / 5
