GAG REFLEX level:5!!! Hell yeah!
After hearing about this movie for sometime, then finally watching it i can only say one thing… it is amazing.
The movie proceeds in a very dark yet stylized fashion. It is set in futuristic Tokyo where the backdrop has become a very bleak and deteriorated cityscape. The gore level raises the bar to heights only previously seen in Dead Alive (maybe even higher). The story itself is also fantastic. Those who are not fans of Asian cinema may find it slightly “over the top”, but at the same time it is very engaging and tons of fun.
Not to spoil the story, but the ability held by engineers that a wound becomes a weapon just makes for some awesome visuals.
For anybody who is on the fence about watching this movie, i would say “watch it” for sure. If you are in the mood for a dark, thrilling, gory tale with slight humor (commercials and dispatch girl) then i would definitely recommend this movie. It has everything from a great story, to a fantastic style that will have you wanting more as the credits role. Tokyo Gore Police quickly became one of my favorite movies after watching it for the very first time.
My friends had me watch this movie a few hours ago, and it was incredibly over-the-top with 200 gallons of blood pouring out of everybody from beginning to end. It was almost like a video game because of how insane the gore was. From literal ‘hand’ guns to eyes that pop out to mutated private parts, and much more. The film is set in the futuristic Japan. A suicidal girl named Ruka helps the police bring down the Engineers. I highly recommend TOKYO GORE POLICE!!!
A creative futuristic tale with color-saturated cartoonish elements and over the top effects and concepts! Need to see it!
