‘Hilarious’ is probably the only word to describe this Spanish low-budget trashfest, which feels like a best-of of all the European 60s and 70s horror flicks, as it is packed with all kinds of zombies, ghosts, black magic, executions, sharp murder weapons, decapitated heads and lots of gore.

The plot is horrible and the script makes absolutely no sense, large parts of the dialogue are just laughable and the acting is rather poor – with the exception of Paul Naschy, who is pretty powerful in his 3(!) roles.
The repetitive soundtrack is annoying, many of the effects look rubbish (obvious fake blood, Alaric de Marnac’s head, a laughable from-dead-to-alive transformation…) and the abundance of silly and/or completely pointless scenes is just ridiculous (many poor and unnecessary sex scenes, the absurd fire against the undead, all the amulet-stuff, the annoying hillbillies…).

At least it never gets boring, most of the kills look really great (torn out hearts, the kitchen kill…), it’s well-filled with wonderful nudity and especially in the first half, there are a few quite remarkable scenes (the execution, the séance, the painting…).

    Euro-Horror at its ‘best’ :-)

Not bad,but kinda silly.”The werewolf vs.the vampire woman” is Naschy’s best movie though.
