Rue Morgue Founder Breeds Violence to Surviving in ‘Cut Throats Nine’
Rodar y Rodar, which produced The Orphanage and Julia’s Eyes with Guillermo del Toro, is teaming with Canada’s Rue Morgue Cinema on Cut Throats Nine. Being helmed by Rodrigo Gudino, the founder of horror magazine Rue Morgue, the pic retools 1972 cult Spanish horror western Condenados a vivir (trailer below). Cast includes Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Clash of the Titans), Harvey Keitel (Pulp Fiction, Bad Lieutenant) and Roy Dupuis (The Rocket, La Femme Nikita). Screenplay is by Gudino and Joe O’Brien. The action is set in 1892 in the American west where a wagonload of murderous convicts is attacked by bandits. Only seven survive, along with a sergeant (Mikkelsen) and his beautiful young daughter. Stumbling toward its destination, the convoy degenerates into savagery, with survivors being choked, stabbed, shot and burned.
