What happened to Halle Berry’s career? This could have been good, and indeed there were moments. But it felt like all the actors went between taking this film seriously and hamming it up. The shark effects were quite nice and realistic, so that was a plus. It just completely lost the plot at the end. I could not figure out the sense in Kate’s character progression. The fact the actors in this film have some skill (when they chose to apply it, that is) and the very beautiful scenery of South Africa make this tolerable viewing.
