I must say I went to see this film with an open mind I was only let down with the over the top ending and no plenty of gore.with the mass body count in the 1st film this one was a let down Yes there was plenty of jumps and scream, but with 2 scenes cut from the original and was put in the second film I felt let down
every one is going to say yes the 1st is the best but I can see why this has got a limited release in the usa and straight to VOD

Piranha 3DD is pure cheesy greatness. While the film should certainly not be taken seriously, it nails the tone I was hoping for more of in Piranha (2010), not that that movie didn’t have it’s own merits (I quite enjoyed it). Definitely worth my time/ money, a very fun and enjoyable experience. The only complaint I have is that it felt a little rushed, and was lacking a third act.

I really wish I could give this movie at least a 3, but I can’t. The acting is terrible, the dialogue is cringe-worthy, and the gore is sacrificed. This is a fun movie, and you could certainly spend 83 minutes in worse ways. It’s just that this movie is very flat in what it tries to accomplish. It promises the big buckets of blood; we get ounces. It promises a climactic ending. We get a shred of that. It’s decent. I’m really torn on this movie, it’s fun and I never got bored, but it’s not something I would see in a heartbeat. Figure out for yourselves folks. I certainly can’t.

Garbage. The one that came out before this was so much better. This tried to hard to be funny. There was a severe lack of gore. The only positive thing I could say about this was that the fish looked a lot more real than the first one, cause I’m pretty sure every shot of them in the fist one were CGI, and here they used a combination of CGI and actual physical moving fish props.

Piranha 3DD, is unfortunately as bad and half-assed as its title. In a movie claiming to have double the action, double the terror, double the D’s and the location at a water park, you would of thought that it would be double the fun. Not even close and it has to be the worst horror sequel released to theaters I have ever seen. Not even the gore was inventive enough to save this from being a pile of shit. This movie blows and not in a good way!

The acting all around was despicable and lazy, Danielle Panabaker being the only one giving her best with not much to work with. She is by far way too good for this movie and deserves better roles; the most interesting one so far is the role in Mr. Brooks. Katrina Bowden has great assets and is becoming quite the B-movie scream queen, but doesn’t have much in the acting department. Sure is eye candy though. Using David Hasselhoff from Baywatch in the film probably was entertaining on paper, but just wasn’t an effective gag here and just was a misfire at trying to be a funny nod.

Director, John Gulage wasted a potentially great location for a creature feature, a water park! He could of done wonders with that location and created some sort of suspense and inventiveness but didn’t even bother. It comes off as a soft-core porno you see on the movie channels that happen to have piranhas in it. Even at that it wasn’t rewarding, very bad taste. So far the only horror movie that used its water resort location effectively is The Pool, which they should have taken some notes before making this film. Feast this isn’t. Not on a winning streak so far, better luck next time.

The gore just wasn’t as memorable this time around. The effects were cheap looking and the piranhas look worse than before. There were no thrills, no big laughs, no terror, just big jugs and relied too much on CGI. This movie should have been trashed from the start until it was in good hands. Just a waste of everything.

Overall, not saying I’m surprised that this sequel ended up being a disgrace of wasted potential, but man they could of done better than this. Bigger boobs doesn’t mean a bigger and better movie and this will definitely be on the top of my list of being the worst horror film of 2012. Not recommended!

I am sorry, but this film is no where near as good as Piranha 3D (2010). Alex Aja made that film a fun fest with lots of nudity sex and gore. I loved every bit of that movie. Piranha 3DD tries to take the humor a lot further and for the most part they fail. I can see they were trying to go with the campy so bad its good element but it was pretty much just bad. The jokes were all half assed and the violence was toned down so much from the original. There are a few fun segments in the film but at under 80 minutes not including credits, this could have worked much more on the syfy channel. Aside from Danielle Panabaker, I did not like this movie at all.

If you are a fan of the original Piranha and the Piranha 3D remake you will most likely enjoy this movie. It’s not perfect by any means so don’t go in with high expectations, but if you except it for what it is: a fun tongue-in-cheek late night horror comedy to watch with your friends while drinking beers, you will have a blast watching it. I’m surprised that the official review didn’t give it a higher score.

In all seriousness I actually enjoyed the first film. In particular because it was just cute to see Hollywood attempt to remake the movie. Kind of like watching a two year old draw a house built out of pizza. As for this one I loved it as well but it sits where it deserves to sit. I rented this with some friends on PPV and we laughed at the comedic parts and at the extremely cheesy gore, but that’s it. It is one of those films where you drink and watch it and never watch it again after because it just wasn’t that memorable. But that doesn’t make it a bad film. It is what it is a cheesy B horror comedy.

Official Score: 3 / 5
