I personally loved the first Grave Encounters and find it way better and creepier than any of the Paranormal Activity films combined, as well as one of the only really good found footage horror films out there. When I saw the trailer for GE2, I figured it may be good, but not as good as the first. After watching it today on VOD, I gotta say that I enjoyed it about as much as the first. The acting is pretty solid, it builds on to the story without getting too farfetched, and has a great creep factor. However, there is one part near the near involving the cameras that didn’t make sense and wouldn’t work at all. The first is still better, but this one isn’t too far behind it. The film basically goes in the same direction as Blair Witch 2 did, but this one actually succeeded in doing so.
An utterly disappointing sequel and horror film. It lacks any soul and takes away any idea that anything from the first movie was really found footage. Not to mention the cast. They are some of the stupidest people that have every been shown in a horror movie. And the main character Alex is the must unlikeable character I have ever seen! I hate him! The whole movie I just wanted to see him die and of course everyone else but him does. This movie literally made me made. A waste of time. It sucks
OK the movie was not too bad. Better than some of the other ‘found footage’ movies out there. But one thing…
Why is everyone in Vancouver walking round in short sleeve shirts in December? And why does it look like the height of summer, complete with rich foliage on the trees?
That’s just really lazy.
Utterly disappointing sequel. Removed any of the drama and soul from the last film. Started off as a good sequel idea and then the plot just got confused and lost it’s way. It’s an alright film if you stop it 20 minutes before the end. The idea with the cameras at the end is just ridiculous and does not work. Has some good scary moments though.

Okay, everyone is entitled to his or her opinions and I know a lot of people are going to hate my opinion on this one. Found footage films scare me as much as French horror films. I absolutely love found footage films because they scare me so much. The original Grave Encounters scared the crap out of me! The scene where they break through the front doors only to find another hallway still haunts me. Grave Encounters 2 managed to scare me again. I don’t think it was as terrifying as the first, but it did manage to freak me out. My only problem with this film is that it took a really long time to get going. The first 30 minutes I wanted to fast forward through most of the scenes. But once the characters hit the road, the film finally starts to pick up. There was a ton of scary elements to this film. Even though the ending didn’t make a whole lot of sense, it was still pretty eerie. I enjoyed this film and I’m actually hoping for a third.
*If you haven’t seen the first, I wouldn’t see the second. The majority of the film won’t make any sense without seeing the first.
