Bloody Disgusting Finishing Fund

Bloody Disgusting (in association with The Collective) is looking for films that are nearly complete, but need finishing funds to put on the final touches. This means (but is not limited to): sound mixing, scoring, securing music rights, color grading, computer graphics, editing visual effects, or other post-production needs.

We’re looking for feature-length (70-110 minute) horror, sci-fi/thriller or other films in this genre from around the world.

If a prospective film submission is chosen to receive finishing funds, such financing would be contingent on Bloody Disgusting and The Collective participating in its ownership, distribution and marketing.

You must read and accept the Terms & Conditions before submitting your film to the Bloody Disgusting Finishing Fund (hereafter “BDFF”).

Submission Period: There is a rolling submission period with no deadline for entry. Please take your time to prepare your submission to best present your film and why it should receive finishing funds.

Submission Materials: In order to be considered for the BDFF, you must submit your film on a DVD along with a typed and fully executed submission form to the following address:

Bloody Disgusting Finishing Fund
C/O The Collective
8383 Wilshire Blvd., STE 1050
Beverly Hills, CA 90211

Your film output must be in HD (whether it was shot as HD video, film or other formats) at a minimum resolution of 1920×1080. Do not up-convert or “stretch” smaller resolutions to “fit”.

A trailer is highly recommended to help us understand your film before screening it. Include as playable DVD. A trailer can be a traditional theatrical trailer or it can be a selection of scenes (i.e. sizzle reel) from your unfinished film that showcases the story and style (Maximum length 8 minutes, please).

Any materials that you submit will not be returned to you. Do not submit originals.

You must be 18 or over to submit a film to the BDFF.

By making a submission, you acknowledge that there may be other submissions which are very much like your film in theme, idea, format or other respects (e.g. “found footage” of paranormal activity, a deranged neighbor that keeps people in the basement, masked psychopaths that kill teenagers for revenge, etc.) and that you waive any and all claims that other’s submissions may be similar to your original submission.

All Feature Submissions should be shot in HD format (1920×1080 minimum) and submitted on a regular DVD format. All Submissions should be in English, must be original work, true and verifiable, and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity. By making a Submission to BDFF, you represent and warrant that you are the sole creator of the film submitted and that you own all right, title and interest in and to, or have the valid right to use, all material contained in your Submission.

To be eligible for the BDFF, Submissions should not have been previously broadly commercially distributed or licensed to anyone, anywhere in the world, and no third party shall have any current right to exploit the Submission, in whole or in part, such as television rights or theatrical distribution rights (“Undistributed”).

Submissions should not contain any of the following:

  • stock/file film or photo footage or any footage that is not originally created material without the necessary licenses, rights, releases, consents, and written permissions;
  • patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights (including music, audio or video works, and other works of art or images published on or in websites, television, movies or other media) without the necessary licenses, rights, releases, consents, and written permissions;
  • names, likenesses, voices, or other indicia identifying any person, including, without limitation, celebrities and/or other public or private figures, living or deceased, without the necessary licenses, rights, releases, consents, and written permission;
  • images of any locations or property without the necessary licenses, rights, releases, consents, and written permission;
  • content that endorses any form of hate or hate group;
  • content that appears to duplicate any other Submission;
  • content that contains any personal identification, such as license plate numbers, personal names, e-mail addresses or street addresses without the necessary licenses, rights, releases, consents, and written permission;
  • By making a Submission, each participant acknowledges and agrees that BDFF may obtain many Submissions and that such Submissions may be similar or identical in theme, idea, format or other respects to others submitted under this finishing fund and/or through other of BDFF’s (or any of its affiliates) activities, and waive any and all claims participant may have had, may have, and/or may have in the future, that any similar submission, film, song and/or other works accepted, reviewed and/or used by the BDFF (or its affiliates or designees) may be similar to participant’s Submission. Participant acknowledges and agrees that the BDFF does not have now, nor shall it have in the future, any duty or liability, direct or indirect, vicarious, contributory, or otherwise, with respect to the infringement or protection of any copyright in and to participant’s Submission.

    BDFF has no right to exploit or otherwise use the Submissions except in accordance with these Terms & Conditions or as set forth in the Participation Agreement, if applicable, and participant shall retain all right, title and interest in and to the Submission unless otherwise agreed.

    No Obligation to Proceed: Nothing contained in these Terms & Conditions shall require BDFF to advance any participant’s film. Upon review of the Submissions, BDFF may eliminate participant in its sole discretion and preclude participant from participating in any other future submissions. BDFF may also require participant to bring the Submission into compliance with any requirements of the finishing fund, including any guidelines provided by BDFF. All decisions regarding a Submission, including without limitation, eligibility, participant selection, the acceptability of Submissions and participant elimination, are at BDFF’s sole and exclusive discretion, and are final and not subject to appeal.

    Film Selection: BDFF reserves the right not to select any films. BDFF reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any participant that it finds has tampered with, or has attempted to tamper with, the submission process or the operation of the BDFF, or to be in violation of these Terms & Conditions or who has acted in a disruptive or unsportsmanlike manner and void all associated Submissions.

    Filmmaker Notification: BDFF will notify filmmakers by e-mail, phone or mail. All potential filmmakers must execute a “Filmmaker Participation Agreement” and any other documents required by BDFF such as liability and publicity releases (except where prohibited) within fourteen (14) days of notification to be eligible to receive funds. Noncompliance with the Filmmaker Participation Agreement, these Terms & Conditions, any additional documents or other instructions provided to participant may result in disqualification or a request by BDFF to become compliant.

    Released Parties shall not be liable for (i) failed, returned or misdirected notifications due to inaccurate information provided by a participant, or (ii) responses to notifications which are lost, late, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible, misdirected, damaged or otherwise not received, in whole or in part, by BDFF. If any Finalist is at least 18 but still considered a minor in his/her jurisdiction of residence, BDFF may, at its discretion, require his/her parent or legal guardian to execute all required documents on behalf of potential Finalist.

    Filmmaker Search Restrictions: By participating in the BDFF, you hereby agree to release and hold BDFF, Bloody Disgusting and The Collective and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates and advertising and promotion agencies and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, shareholders, licensees and agents (collectively, “Released Parties”) harmless from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs and expenses, including attorneys’ fees and costs, arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from your participation in the BDFF or any BDFF-related activity or acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any funding. You further agree to indemnify, defend, and hold Released Parties harmless from and against any third party claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs and expenses, including attorneys’ fees and costs, arising from or relating to the BDFF or any Released Party’s use of the Submission in accordance with the rights granted herein. Released Parties are not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, damaged, stolen, altered, garbled, incorrect, incomplete, delayed or undelivered Submissions; all of which will be void. Released Parties are also not responsible for problems uploading or downloading any BDFF-related information or materials from the Site or for any other technical malfunctions of electronic equipment, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer hardware or software failures, phone lines, failure of any Submission to be received by BDFF on account of technical problems, traffic, congestion on the internet or the Site, or for any other technical problems including telecommunication, miscommunication or failure, and failed, lost, delayed, incomplete, garbled or misdirected communications which may limit participant’s ability to participate in the BDFF. Released Parties are not responsible for any other errors or malfunctions of any kind, whether network, printing, typographical, human or otherwise relating to or in connection with the BDFF, including, without limitation, errors or malfunctions which may occur in connection with the administration of the BDFF, the processing or judging of Submissions, the incorrect uploading of Submissions, the announcement of the selected films or in any BDFF-related materials. In the event of a dispute regarding online Submissions received from multiple users having the same e-mail account, the authorized subscriber of the e-mail account at the time of Submission will be deemed to be the participant and he/she must comply with these Terms & Conditions. Authorized subscriber is the natural person who is assigned the e-mail address by the Internet Service Provider (ISP), online service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses. BDFF reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the Submission process or the operation of the BDFF or any website, intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other participant, BDFF or any of its representatives or to otherwise be acting in violation of these Terms & Conditions and void all associated Submissions. BDFF reserves the right to suspend, modify or cancel the BDFF, or any participant’s participation in the BDFF, at any time in its sole discretion if a computer virus, bug, non-authorized intervention or other problem corrupts the administration or security of the BDFF, or for any other reason and, if the BDFF is cancelled, to select the filmmakers from among the non-suspect, eligible entries received during the Submission Period prior to the cancellation date using the selection procedure set forth herein. CAUTION: Any attempt by a participant to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the BDFF is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, the BDFF reserves the right to seek damages from any such participant to the fullest extent permitted by law and to disqualify such participant from the BDFF.
