AGAINST THE DARK : Sony Pictures

Katana master Tao leads a special ops squad of ex-military vigilantes on a massacre mission, their target: vampires. On the post apocalyptic globe, sucked dry by bloodthirsty vampires, a few remaining survivors are trapped in an infected hospital. Tao is their only hope and he knows the only cure is execution. Now it’s time for the last stand against the flesh-eating vampires and there’s nothing left to lose but the last of humanity.

ARE YOU SCARED 2: Lionsgate

GeoHunt is a fast-growing community of adventure-seekers who play hide-and-seek around the globe using GPS devices. Anyone can play and search for treasures. In the movie, four twentysomethings who are in the game of geohunting fall for a trap set by a killer who chooses them for their notoriety on websites such as YouTube. The treasure-hunters become the hunted and thrill-seeking turns to survival as their adventure is broadcast on the web by the killer in a twisted reality show.

CALL BACK: Westlake

After trying to seduce a naive young actress, an overly cocky young horror director has the tables turned on him when the actress and her girlfriend restrain him and proceed to torture him in the same manner that people in the film that made him famous.

DEATH NOTE II: THE LAST NAME: Viz

DEATH NOTE: The Last Name is a sequel to the movie DEATH NOTE, which closely follows major plot elements from the original manga series, while featuring several new key story differences. The story begins on the heels of the first movie as Light Yagami joins the investigation team in pursuit of the serial killer known as “Kira.” While L still strongly suspects that Light is “Kira,” Light tries to uncover L’s real name so he can kill him with his Death Note. Confusingly enough, a new rash of murders all around the world are taking place, with a Second Kira” claiming responsibility. Light learns the identity of the Second Kira and suggests they join forces to get rid of L. Will L be able to catch “Kira” before he is killed?

DOROTHY MILLS: Weinstein Company

When a gloomy, God-fearing island community is rocked by the murder of a young child, a psychologist is called in to examine Dorothy Mills, the teenager accused of the crime. Despite the villagers’ resistance, the therapist soon suspects that Dorothy suffers from multiple personality disorder. But when the girl speaks in the voice of the woman’s own deceased son, what first seemed like madness may – as the locals believe – be Dorothy channeling the dead. A spine-chilling blend of psychological thriller and gothic terror, Dorothy Mills is eerie, suspenseful and truly frightening.

As the final, orgiastic scene of the film is being shot, Otto struggles to access the human emotions buried beneath his zombie exterior

RED MIST: Anchor Bay

The medical students at Forthaven General Hospital study hard and party harder, until a cruel prank accidentally puts the facility’s creepy janitor into a deep coma. But when one responsible student tries to revive the degenerate loner with an experimental injection, she instead sends his brainwaves berserk. Will a sudden spree of sick kicks now claim the guilty one by one, or has the ultimate out of body experience ushered in a bloodbath of brutal revenge?

RED VICTORIA: Well Go USA

Jim is a writer, down on his luck because is emotional drams just aren t selling. After his agent convinces him to write a horror script to make money, Jim begrudgingly begins writing only to find his muse, an undead one named Victoria. This most unlikely of love stories unfolds as the two battle freakishly grotesque parents, satanic vamps, slimy-minded perverts and a sister that will never die.

TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE: Season One: CBS/Paramount (TEX’S PICK OF THE WEEK)

This 30-minute horror/fantasy anthology series follows in the vein of The Twilight Zone. Each week presents another standalone story of horror fantasy, and/or science fiction. Some episodes are gruesome, a few are of a lighter comedic style. Like many such shows, Tales… adapted the work of famous genre authors of the period such as Harlan Ellison, Stephen King, and Clive Barker. Many episodes also featured veteran actors of the 40’s and 50’s that saw very little work in their later years.

Inside an isolated airport, seven anxious passengers learn that their charter flight has been grounded by a blizzard. Despite their pleas, the pilot, Cathy, tells them that she cannot depart until the storm abates. The unhappy passengers are soon stunned into silence by the arrival of Jack Edwards, a convicted murderer escorted by two guards whose transport van has skidded off the highway. Cathy tries in vain to make the agitated passengers feel at ease with phone lines down and radios only transmitting static. But these soon prove to be the least of the passengers’ problems, as they realize that some members of the group are not who, or what, they seem…

‘Lisa Frankenstein’ Shambles Onto Blu-ray in April With Audio Commentary and Deleted Scenes

The horror-comedy Lisa Frankenstein is headed home to physical media, with the film zombie-walking its way onto DVD and Blu-ray from Universal on April 9, 2024.

Directed by Zelda Williams and written by Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body), Lisa Frankenstein will also be available for a lower price on Digital beginning March 29.

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review for Bloody Disgusting,” Billed as a coming-of-rage tale, Lisa Frankenstein instead offers a celebration of outcasts and weirdos.”

“It makes for a sugary sweet, almost wholesome effort held together by a trio of infectiously winsome performances,” Meagan’s review continued. She added, “As a celebration of teen girls and outcasts who just want to be loved, Lisa Frankenstein ultimately charms.”

Kathryn Newton (Freaky) and Cole Sprouse (“Riverdale”) lead the cast for Focus Features, and the new film is rated “PG-13” for “bloody images and sexual material.”

Carla Gugino (The Fall of the House of Usher), Liza Soberano (Alone/Together), Joe Chrest (Stranger Things) and Henry Eikenberry (The Crowded Room) also star.
