Weird Ass Trailer for Sony’s ‘The Skin I Live In’
It was announced a few weeks back that Sony Pictures Classics has acquired the Pedro Almodovar-directed horror thriller The Skin I Live In, a Spanish-language thriller starring Antonio Banderas as a plastic surgeon seeking revenge on the man who raped his daughter.
Sony will give the film a theatrical release here in the States this coming November, but Spain will see a release much sooner. Inside you’ll find the first official teaser that’s pretty effin’ weird.
“Ever since his wife was burned in a car crash, Dr. Robert Ledgard, an eminent plastic surgeon, has been interested in creating a new skin with which he could have saved her. After twelve years, he manages to cultivate a skin that is a real shield against every assault. In addition to years of study and experimentation, Robert needed a further three things: no scruples, an accomplice and a human guinea pig. Scruples were never a problem. Marilia, the woman who looked after him from the day he was born, is his most faithful accomplice. And as for the human guinea pig…”

‘The Devil’s Bath’ – Shudder Sets Release Date for Horror Movie from ‘Goodnight Mommy’ Filmmakers
Austrian filmmakers Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala (The Lodge, Goodnight Mommy) are back with new horror movie The Devil’s Bath, and it’s coming to Shudder this summer.
The Devil’s Bath debuts on Shudder June 28, Variety reports today.
The film makes its North American premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in June.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for the German-language horror movie: “In 1750 Austria, a deeply religious woman named Agnes has just married her beloved, but her mind and heart soon grow heavy as her life becomes a long list of chores and expectations. Day after day, she is increasingly trapped in a murky and lonely path leading to evil thoughts, until the possibility of committing a shocking act of violence seems like the only way out of her inner prison.”
Anja Plaschg, David Scheid, Maria Hofstätter, Camilla Schielin, and Lorenz Tröbinger star. You can check out a first look image above. Expect the trailer in the coming weeks.
The filmmakers tell Variety, “We want to see the world how it is, and that’s of course sometimes very difficult and painful, but I think we owe it to ourselves and other human beings to be honest about everything that’s not great in the world. Many movies just depict the world as a humongous place that’s amazing to live in. We think sometimes that’s not true and feel the responsibility to look into those pieces.”
The Devil’s Bath is produced by Heimatfilm Productions and Ulrich Seidl Productions as a co-production with Heimatfilm and Coop99 Filmproduktion.
