Full ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ Trailer Will Make You Hate Humans

Published

Twentieth Century Fox released the second trailer for Rupert Wyatt’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, a prequel to Tim Burton’s remake from starring James Franco, John Lithgow, Freida Pinto, Andy Serkis, Brian Cox, and Tom Felton.

While the teaser crumbles in the second minute, the full trailer found below only intensifies with each passing second. It’s interesting how it’s edited in a way that makes me think I’m going to be rooting for Caesar (the lead Ape) and his “cause”. The humans come off like such naive jerks (maybe we are, heh…) Anyways, even with the CGI, I think the new trailer is nothing short of spectacular. Your thoughts?

With the buzz on X-Men, I’m starting to think this is the summer of Fox. Could they blow our minds and deliver not one, but TWO great films in one year?!

An origin story in the true sense of the word, ‘Rise’ is set in present day San Francisco. The film is a reality-based cautionary tale — a science fiction/science-fact blend where mankind’s hubris leads to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

Oscar-winning visual effects house WETA Digital – employing certain of the groundbreaking technologies developed for Avatar – will render, for the first time ever in the film series, photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors.

We’ll see how this all comes together on August 5.

Sleepy Hollow movie

Paramount is heading to Sleepy Hollow with a brand new feature film take on the classic Headless Horseman tale, with Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) announced to direct the movie back in 2022. But is that project still happening, now two years later?

The Hollywood Reporter lets us know this afternoon that Paramount Pictures has renewed its first-look deal with Lindsey Anderson Beer, and one of the projects on the upcoming slate is the aforementioned Sleepy Hollow movie that was originally announced two years ago.

THR details, “Additional projects on the development slate include… Sleepy Hollow with Anderson Beer attached to write, direct, and produce alongside Todd Garner of Broken Road.”

You can learn more about the slate over on The Hollywood Reporter. It also includes a supernatural thriller titled Here Comes the Dark from the writers of Don’t Worry Darling.

The origin of all things Sleepy Hollow is of course Washington Irving’s story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” which was first published in 1819. Tim Burton adapted the tale for the big screen in 1999, that film starring Johnny Depp as main character Ichabod Crane.

More recently, the FOX series “Sleepy Hollow” was also based on Washington Irving’s tale of Crane and the Headless Horseman. The series lasted four seasons, cancelled in 2017.
