‘100 Bloody Acres’ Begins Principle Photography

Published

on

Cyan Films today announced the cast of new horror film 100 Bloody Acres, the feature film debut from filmmaking brothers Colin and Cameron Cairnes, who won first place with the film script in the horror section of the prestigious Slamdance Screenwriting Competition.

100 Bloody Acres commences principal photography in South Australia today (Monday 16 January).

100 Bloody Acres is the story of brothers Reg and Lindsay Morgan’s struggling organic blood and bone fertiliser business. To fill a big order they need a fresh supply of their ‘secret’ ingredient (think roadkill) to process through the meat-grinder. By chance Reg comes across two guys and a girl with a broken-down vehicle on their way to a music festival. But Reg and Lindsay are not psychos — they’re just small business operators.

100 Bloody Acres is written and directed by the Cairnes Brothers who are best known for their award-winning short film Celestial Avenue which won the 2010 If Award for Best Short Film, the Grand Prize at Rhode Island and Best Comedy at Arizona Film Festival in 2009. From the press release: Headlining the cast is talented actor Damon Herriman in his first leading feature role. Damon’s career includes an extraordinary range of roles in films working with high profile directors such as Clint Eastwood (J.Edgar) Steven Soderbergh (The Last Time I Saw Michael Greg) David Mamet (Red Belt) Neil Armfield (Candy) and Rowan Woods (Winged Creatures). Damon’s television career includes a current role in hit US series Justified, and appearances in Breaking Bad, Cold Case and CSI, and he is well known in Australia for roles in Love My Way, Offspring and Wilfred.

Starring alongside Damon is the creative and distinctive performer Angus Sampson. Angus’ work includes box office horror hit Insidious directed by James Wan, Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are, AFI Award-winning film The King and much-loved roles in Spirited, Wilfred and Thank God You’re Here. Recently Angus appeared on stage with Stephen Fry in QI Live and completed filming Beaconsfield.

Also starring are winner of the Out of the Box Award at last year’s IF Awards Anna McGahan (Underbelly 4: Razor, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Spirited), Oliver Ackland (The Proposition, The Slap, Cloudstreet), and Jamie Kristian (UK series As If, Underbelly 4: Razor, Rescue Special Ops: Myall Creek, Big Font, Large Spacing).

Guest appearances include John Jarratt (Wolf Creek), Chrissie Page (Last Ride), Paul Blackwell (Red Dog) and Reg the dog (Dr Plonk).
