Literally years after being announced, Chris Columbus’ 1492 Productions and Warner Bros. Pictures have set André Øvredal to direct Carpe Demon: Adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom, reports Moviehole.

The director of the Norwegian TrollHunter will be adapting Julie Kenner’s best-selling action-adventure tale about a stay-at-home mother with a demon-hunting past who is called back into action to rid her small California town of monsters.

Øvredal’s sophomore effort will retain the fun and punchy tone of his debut, but possess a considerably larger budget. Dan and Kevin Hagerman, of Sony’s Hotel Transylvania, are working on the script with Home Alone alum Columbus. Thanks to ‘Chris GMX’ for the tip.
