See The ‘Cold Skin’ Creature In Early Concept Art

Cold Skin

Frontier(s) and The Divide director Xavier Gens, who is also in development on James Wan’s House of Horrors, has shared some early concept art from his long gestured adaptation, Cold Skin, which once had 30 Days of Night’s David Slade attached to direct.

“Cold Skin” is the debut novel by Catalan author Albert Sánchez Piñol. The novel chronicles the stay of an unnamed weather official on a remote island in the south Atlantic close to the Antarctic Circle. The film adaptation was written by 28 Weeks Later‘s Jesus Olmo.

On the edge of the Antarctic Circle, in the years after World War One, a steamship approaches a desolate island far from all shipping lanes. On board is a young man, on his way to assume the post of weather observer, to live in solitude at the end of the earth. But on shore he finds no trace of the man whom he has been sent to replace, just a deranged castaway who has witnessed a horror he refuses to name. For the next twelve months his entire world will consist of a deserted cabin, trees, rocks, silence and the surrounding sea. Then night begins to fall…

The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences. With fiendish followers invading suburbia, it’s now up to the kids to discover the secret that can lock The Gate forever . . . if it’s not too late.

If you’ve never seen The Gate, it’s now streaming on Prime Video and Tubi.
